Moisture-induced buckle delamination of thin inorganic layers on a polymer substrate was studied. Moisture has been found to have a significant effect on the failure mode. Experimentally, an increase in the buckle width, height and the total buckle delamination length with time and humidity was observed. Moreover, a transition from straight to telephone-cord buckle pattern was taken place in a humid environment. Applying only a uniaxial compressive strain on the thin layers did not result in the transition from straight to telephone-cord. For a compliant substrate the transition from straight to telephone-cord buckle occurred at significantly higher ratio of residual strain over critical buckling strain than for a rigid substrate. A simple model for buckling was applied. Using the energy release rate, the interfacial toughness was investigated as a function of relative humidity.  相似文献

In a recent paper, Gui et al. (2008. DEM-LES study of 3-D bubbling fluidized bed with immersed tubes. Chemical Engineering Science 63, 3654–3663) reported the results of numerical simulations of a bubbling fluidized bed containing internal tubes using discrete element model (DEM) coupled to a large eddy simulation (LES). This paper investigates and compares the performance of two GMPLS-based distributed control and management protocols for dynamic lightpath provisioning in future IP networks. The first protocol is a global information-based link state approach that consists of both an integrated RWA algorithm and a signaling algorithm. Two triggering mechanisms for the LSAs update procedures are considered; one is periodic-based and the other is threshold-based. Intersymbol Interference (ISI) always appears when the communication channel is a multi-path channel. Many methods are used to reduce the effect of ISI. In this paper we focus on the autocorrelation property of the spreading codes and the role it plays in minimizing the ISI effect, where we obtain the spreading codes with minimum autocorrelation property. The results of comparing the average autocorrelation of the obtained codes with that of the well known Hadamard codes show a great enhancement in the performance, where for example, for codes of length 8 a gain of 408% was achieved at one shift, and for codes of length 16 a gain of 530% was achieved at one shift. The thermal behavior of a two–layered thin slab carrying periodic signals under the effect of the dual-phase-lag heat conduction model is investigated. Two types of periodic signals are considered, a periodic heating source and a periodic imposed temperature at the boundary. The deviations among the predictions of the classical diffusion model, the wave mode, and the dual-phase-lag model are investigated. Analytical closed-form solutions are obtained for the temperature distribution within the slab. The effect of the angular frequency, thickness of the plate, dimensionless thermal relaxation time, dimensionless phase-lag in temperature gradient, thermal conductivity, and thermal diffusivity on the temperature distribution of the slab was studied. It is found that the deviations among the three models increase as the frequency of the signals increases and as the thickness of the plate decreases. It is found that the use of the dual-phase-lag heat conduction model is necessary when the metal film thickness is of order 10–6 m and the angular frequency of the signals is of order 1012rad · s–1.  相似文献

The Kafrein dam, 480 m long and 30 m high, is located on the Wadi Kafrein, a few kilometres from the active Jordan Valley fault. The Jordan Valley Authority proposed raising the crest of the existing dam by approximately 7 m and extending the length of the embankment to 554 m, in order to increase its storage capacity by 6 million m3 to a total of 8.5 million m3. The paper discusses the likelihood that existing seepage problems will be exacerbated when the dam is raised and proposes some remedial actions to increase the safety of the dam and minimise both the amount of seepage and any adverse effects.
