In the world of geospatial data infrastructures, geoportals are developed to facilitate access and use of geospatial resources, including data. The design and implementation of effective and efficient geoportals are becoming crucial. Providing possibilities for users to organize and integrate available resources can arguably enhance the process of data discovery and spatial analysis required, and hence, is the focus of this paper. We argue that the synthesis of summaries of distributed datasets, map and feature services through the geoportal can present a coherent view to support data discovery. For this purpose, the atlas metaphor is used as an indexing server and integration interface of summaries. Thematic maps and a storyteller view are accessible through the atlas metaphor. They can be used to provide a supporting context for data discovery and access purposes.

Despite the importance of mechanical compliance in most applications of semiconducting polymers, the effects of structural parameters of these materials on their mechanical properties are typically not emphasized. This paper examines the effect of length of the pendant group on the tensile modulus and brittleness for a series of regioregular poly(3‐alkylthiophenes) (P3ATs) and their blends with a soluble fullerene derivative, PCBM. The tensile modulus decreases with increasing length of the alkyl side‐chain, from 1.87 GPa for butyl side chains to 0.16 GPa for dodecyl chains. The moduli of P3AT:PCBM blends films are greater than those of the pure polymers by factors of 2–4. A theoretical model produces a trend in the effect of alkyl side chain on tensile modulus that follows closely to the experimental measurements. Tensile modulus correlates with brittleness, as the strain at which cracks appear is 6% for P3BT and >60% for P3OT. Adhesion of the P3AT film to a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate is believed to play a role in an apparent increase in brittleness from P3OT to P3DDT. The additive 1,8‐Diiodooctane (DIO) reduces the modulus of P3HT:PCBM blend by a factor of 3. These results could enable mechanically robust, flexible, and stretchable electronics.  相似文献

For improving product quality and minimizing energy consumption during drying, intermittent drying is often recommended. The mathematical models that are used to describe intermittent drying are usually transport phenomena based, complex models. In this study, the lumped reaction engineering approach (L-REA) is implemented to model wood drying under rapid periodically changed drying air temperature and humidity with high number of cycles of intermittency. The equilibrium activation energy (ΔE v,b ), an important parameter for REA approach, is evaluated according to the corresponding drying air temperature and humidity in each drying section. The results of modeling suggest the L-REA works well with the experimental data. The simplicity of the L-REA is obvious and is hoped to be used in an industrial setting more readily. The L-REA can be used for sustainable processing in industries to assist in energy audit and management.  相似文献

In this paper, we describe Swoop, a hypermedia inspired Ontology Browser and Editor based on OWL, the recently standardized Web-oriented ontology language. After discussing the design rationale and architecture of Swoop, we focus mainly on its features, using illustrative examples to highlight its use. We demonstrate that with its Web-metaphor, adherence to OWL recommendations and key unique features, such as Collaborative Annotation using Annotea, Swoop acts as a useful and efficient Web Ontology development tool. We conclude with a list of future plans for Swoop, that should further increase its overall appeal and accessibility.  相似文献

In this paper, development of a small signal model for 2 × 200 μm GaN HEMT based on the conventional 20-element model is presented. The proposed model presents a direct parameter extraction algorithm, instead of the hybrid optimization approach, that provides simplification, accuracy, and less computational complexity. The extrinsic elements are extracted using a modified cold pinch-off condition while discarding the unwanted forward biasing of the gate. The negative drain to source capacitance Cds is also observed in the ohmic region (for smaller VDS). An excellent agreement found between the measured and modeled data for a wide range of frequencies and bias values shows the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The proposed modeling technique is validated with a good agreement between the achieved bias dependency of intrinsic parameter values and the respective theoretical parameter values.  相似文献

In this paper, the basics and some of the recent developments in quantum dots-in-a-well (DWELL) focal plane arrays (FPAs) are reviewed. Fundamentally, these detectors represent a hybrid between a conventional quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) and a quantum dot infrared photodetector (QDIP), in which the active region consists of quantum dots (QDs) embedded in a quantum well (QW). This hybridization grants DWELLs many of the advantages of its components. These advantages include normally incident photon sensitivity without gratings or optocoupers, like QDIPs, and reproducible control over operating wavelength through ldquodial-in recipesrdquo as seen in QWIPs. Recently reported high-temperature operation results for DWELL FPAs now back up the conclusions drawn by the long carrier lifetimes observed in DWELL heterostructures using femtosecond spectroscopy. This paper will conclude with a preview of some upcoming advances in the field of DWELL FPAs.  相似文献

The reaction engineering approach (REA) is examined here to investigate its suitability as the local evaporation rate to be used in multiphase drying. For this purpose, REA is first implemented to model the convective drying of materials with various thicknesses. The relative activation energy, as the fingerprint of REA, generated from one size of a material is used to model the convective drying of the same material with different thicknesses. Because the results indicate that REA parameters can model the drying of materials with various thicknesses, REA can be scaled down to describe the local evaporation rate (at the microscale as affected by local composition and temperature). The relative activation energy is used to describe the global drying rate in modeling the local evaporation rate. REA is combined with a system of equations of conservation of heat and mass transfer in order to yield the spatial reaction engineering approach (S-REA) as a nonequilibrium multiphase drying model. By using S-REA, the spatial profiles of moisture content, concentration of water vapor, temperature, and local evaporation rate can be generated, which can assist in comprehending the transport phenomena.  相似文献

A multiple-scale perturbation is conducted to derive an averaged equation for predicting the longtime solute transport in an eccentric annulus in which the uniaxial flow may oscillate periodically in time. A proof for the positiveness of the dispersivity is presented, implying that over a cycle of oscillation a solute cloud always broadens. For a steady flow driven by a fixed pressure gradient, increasing the eccentricity and annulus size gives rise to stronger dispersion. This relationship holds when the flow becomes unsteady. In the limit of slow oscillation, dispersion due to an oscillatory flow asymptotes to one-half of that by a steady flow. Increasing the oscillation frequency leads to a two-step decay of the dispersivity. The maximum dispersion in an oscillatory flow can be achieved in the limit of slow oscillation and large eccentricity, where dispersion can be O(103) times larger than that in an otherwise concentric annulus.  相似文献

Dense (~97%) CaO-stabilized ZrO2 ceramic was stabilized with minimum (3 mol%) doping (reported to date) and processed via conventional sintering at a low temperature (~1200°C); compositional analysis via X-ray florescence confirmed the CaO doping accuracy. Phase-pure tetragonal structure (characterized via both X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy) along with uniform nanograins (90 nm) of the ceramic ensured the evolution of no monoclinic phase even after vigorous low-temperature degradation experiments (both thermal and hydrothermal aging for 80-100 h). The sintered ceramic recorded a high hardness (~15 GPa); the indentation toughness value was also comparable to a 3 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia system. The remarkable structure–property correlations in the 3 mol% CaO-stabilized ZrO2 ceramic suggests that the same may be worth examining for suitable future applications (e.g., in dental ceramics).  相似文献
