The traditional shift-share analysis and its existing spatial versions fail to detect the simple effects related to the underlying spillovers derived from the neighbourhood and regional contexts. This paper presents a formulation of the spatial shift-share that incorporates novel effects and classifies the regions in a multi-contextual framework (national, neighbourhood and regional). The use of different benchmarks is valuable since the performance of some regional sectors can be diagnosed with a national focus, while for others, it may be necessary to resort to neighbourhood and regional characteristics. Thus, the technique facilitates the formulation of strategies to improve the regional economic planning.  相似文献

Studies on stepped spillways as flood energy dissipators have been conducted to understand the hydraulics on the stepped face of roller-compacted concrete dams as well as overlays of embankment dams. Significant energy losses occur along the stepped chute so that the energy dissipation structure becomes smaller and more economic. In addition, considering the design discharge, downstream face slope, height of spillway, different combinations of spillway width and number of spillway steps may lead to different head losses. In each feasible combination, the remaining head after the steps should be dissipated by downstream energy dissipators. Design and construction of spillways and energy disspators are very cost-consuming and build up a major part of the dam's construction expenses. Thus, the cost of a financially viable stepped spillway project that consists of the steps’ cost and downstream dissipator's cost should be minimised. In this paper, the honey-bee mating optimisation (HBMO) algorithm is used to determine the best combination of design variables so as to minimise the total cost of both spillway chute and stilling basin. Results are compared with those previously obtained by genetic algorithm (GA) and show the promising potential of the HBMO algorithm in this field of application.  相似文献

Studies linking exposure to low levels of radiofrequencies with adverse health effects, notwithstanding their present apparent inconsistency, have contributed to a steady improvement in the quality of evaluating that exposure. In complex electromagnetic environments, with a multitude of emissions of different frequencies acting simultaneously, knowledge of the spectral content is fundamental to evaluating human exposure to non-ionizing radiation. In the present work, we quantify the most significant spectral components in the frequency band 0.5-2200 MHz in an urban area. The measurements were made with a spectrum analyzer and monopole, biconical, and log-periodic antennas. Power density levels were calculated separately for the medium wave, short wave, and frequency modulation radio broadcasting bands, and for the television and GSM, DCS, and UMTS mobile telephony bands. The measured levels were compared with the ICNIRP reference levels for exposure to multiple frequency sources for thermal effects and electrical stimulation. The results showed the criterion limiting exposure on the basis of preventing electrical stimulation of peripheral nerves and muscles to be stricter (exposure quotient 24.7 10− 4) than that based on thermal considerations (exposure quotient 0.16 10− 4). The bands that contribute most to the latter are short wave, with 46.2%, and mobile telephony with 32.6% of the total exposure.In a complex electromagnetic environment, knowledge of the radiofrequency spectrum is essential in order to quantify the contribution of each type of emission to the public's exposure. It is also necessary to evaluate the electrical effects as well as the thermal effects because the criterion to limit exposure on the basis of the effect of the electrical stimulation of tissues is stricter than that based on thermal effects.  相似文献

Abstract:   This article presents a 3D reconstruction technique for real world environments based on a traditional 2D laser range finder modified to implement a 3D laser scanner. The article describes the mechanical and control issues addressed to physically achieve the 3D sensor used to acquire the data. It also presents the techniques used to process and merge range and intensity data to create textured polygonal models and illustrates the potential of such a unit. The result is a promising system for 3D modeling of real world scenes at a commercial price 10 or 20 times lower than current commercial 3D laser scanners. The use of such a system can simplify measurements of existing buildings and produce easily 3D models and ortophotos of existing structures with minimum effort and at an affordable price.  相似文献

This paper presents a flexible thin-film (FTF) composed by a photovoltaic (PV) cell, a flexible solid-state rechargeable battery and power management electronics. A flexible printed circuit board (fPCB) was used for providing physical support to the electronics and to the battery, whereas a PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) layer was used for providing mechanical adhesion between the PV cell and the fPCB. The high elasticity of the PDMS makes this material an excellent candidate for adapting two materials with different thermal expansions (fPCB and PV). The physical measurements showed a prototype with a thickness in the range 1.52 ± 0.10 mm, 10 g of weight and 37 × 114 mm of size. The electrical measurements showed ability to provide an output voltage of 3.8 V in a continuously form under these conditions: the PV providing DC power for solar irradiations higher than 6 W m−2, and the battery providing DC power for solar irradiations above bellow 6 W m−2 (value that has emerged during the twilight between sunset and dusk).  相似文献

The flow in a recess of a hydrostatic journal bearing is studied in detail. The Navier-Stokes equations for the laminar flow of an incompressible liquid are solved numerically in a two-dimensional plane of a typical bearing recess. Pressure- and shear-induced flows, as well as a combination of these two flow conditions, are analyzed. Recess friction, pressure-ram effects at discontinuities in the flow region, and film entrance pressure loss effects are calculated. Entrance pressure loss coefficients over a forward-facing step are presented as functions of the mean flow Reynolds number for pure-pressure and shear-induced laminar flows.  相似文献

Substance P (SP) after binding to the neurokinin‐1 (NK‐1) receptor regulates many biological functions. Both SP and the NK‐1 receptor are expressed in human normal placenta cells, monocytes, and macrophages. However, to our knowledge, the presence of both SP and the NK‐1 receptor in macrophages of the placenta, the Hofbauer cells, is unknown. We demonstrate by immunohistochemistry in human normal placenta samples the presence of both SP and NK‐1 receptors in the cytoplasm and in the nucleus of Hofbauer cells. The findings suggest a functional role of the SP/NK‐1 receptor system in the physiology and pathophysiology of Hofbauer cells in the human placenta. Microsc. Res. The influence of fluid inertia on the SFD force response to circular-centered motions of arbitrary amplitude is analyzed in detail, For finite length, locally sealed SFDs, integro-differential equations are derived in terms of the mean flow components. Numerical predictions, using the finite-element method, show that the damping and added mass coefficients remain invariant as the Reynolds number increases from small values to a moderate Reynolds number equal to 10. An approximate, finite-length, solution for the fluid-film forces has been analytically obtained which accounts for the fluid-inertia effect as well as local end seal effects in symmetric SFD configurations. The approximate solution, strictly valid for small Reynold numbers (Re < 1), agrees well with the results from the numerical solution for most SFD configurations and orbit radii considered.  相似文献

Present study investigates the influence of major operating parameters on the performance of micro-EDM drilling of cemented carbide (WC-10wt%Co) and identifies the ideal values for improved performance. The operating parameters studied were electrode polarity, gap voltage, resistance, peak current, pulse duration, pulse interval, duty ratio, electrode rotational speed and EDM speed. The performance of micro-EDM drilling process was evaluated by machining time, material removal rate (MRR), relative electrode wear ratio (RWR), spark gap, surface finish and dimensional accuracy of micro-holes. It has been found that there are two major conflicting issues in the micro-EDM of carbide. If the primary objective is to obtain better surface finish, it can be obtained by the sacrifice of high machining time, low MRR and high RWR. However, for faster micro-EDM, the surface roughness is higher and electrode wear is again much higher. It is concluded that negative electrode polarity, gap voltage of 120 V, resistance of 33 Ω, peak current of 8 A, pulse duration of 21 μs, pulse interval of 30 μs, duty cycle of 0.47, electrode rotational speed of 700 rpm and EDM speed of 10 μm/s can be considered as ideal parameters to provide improved performances during the micro-EDM of WC-Co.  相似文献
