In this paper, we introduce the splitter placement problem in wavelength-routed networks (SP-WRN). Given a network topology, a set of multicast sessions, and a fixed number of multicast-capable cross-connects, the SP-WRN problem entails the placement of the multicast-capable cross-connects so that the blocking probability is minimized. The SP-WRN problem is NP-complete as it includes as a subproblem the routing and wavelength assignment problem which is NP-complete. To gain a deeper insight into the computational complexity of the SP-WRN problem, we define a graph-theoretic version of the splitter placement problem (SPG), and show that even SPG is NP-complete. We develop three heuristics for the SP-WRN problem with different degrees of trade-off between computation time and quality of solution. The first heuristic uses the CPLEX general solver to solve an integer-linear program (ILP) of the problem. The second heuristic is based on a greedy approach and is called most-saturated node first (MSNF). The third heuristic employs simulated annealing (SA) with route-coordination. Through numerical examples on a wide variety of network topologies we demonstrate that: (1) no more than 50% of the cross-connects need to be multicast-capable, (2) the proposed SA heuristic provides fast near-optimal solutions, and (3) it is not practical to use general solvers such as CPLEX for solving the SP-WRN problem.  相似文献

A simple method is described for patterning polymer surfaces with reactive groups. This entails pulsed plasma deposition of anhydride functionalized films, followed by DUV irradiation using a ArF excimer laser. Micro and nano-scale patterning was demonstrated, leading to well defined structures with controlled chemistry and/or geometries. We investigated the chemical changes induced by DUV irradiation. Among other parameters, we demonstrated that the covalent attachment of an amine terminated nucleophile via the aminolysis improved significantly the DUV photosensitivity. Using this approach it was possible to create combinatorial patterned surfaces. In particular such patterned polymer films appear as excellent candidate to study the effect of nanostructuration on the development of biofilms.  相似文献

Wireless sensor network has special features and many applications, which have attracted attention of many scientists. High energy consumption of these networks, as a drawback, can be reduced by a hierarchical routing algorithm. The proposed algorithm is based on the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) and Quadrant Cluster based LEACH (Q-LEACH) protocols. To reduce energy consumption and provide a more appropriate coverage, the network was divided into several regions and clusters were formed within each region. In selecting the cluster head (CH) in each round, the amount of residual energy and the distance from the center of each node were calculated by the base station (including the location and residual energy of each node) for all living nodes in each region. In this regard, the node with the largest value had the highest priority to be selected as the CH in each network region. The base station calculates the CH due to the lack of energy constraints and is also responsible for informing it throughout the network, which reduces the load consumption and tasks of nodes in the network. The information transfer steps in this protocol are similar to the LEACH protocol stages. To better evaluate the results, the proposed method was implemented with LEACH LEACH-SWDN, and Q-LEACH protocols using MATLAB software. The results showed better performance of the proposed method in network lifetime, first node death time, and the last node death time.

This paper presents the design,implementation and testing of an embedded system that integrates solar and storage energy resources to smart homes within the smart microgrid.The proposed system provides the required home energy by installing renewable energy and storage devices.It also manages and schedules the power flow during peak and off-peak periods.In addition,a two-way communication protocol is developed to enable the home owners and the utility service provider to improve the energy flow and the consumption efficiency.The system can be an integral part for homes in a smart grid or smart microgrid power networks.A prototype for the proposed system was designed,implemented and tested by using a controlled load bank to simulate a scaled random real house consumption behavior.Three different scenarios were tested and the results and findings are reported.Moreover,data flow security among the home,home owners and utility server is developed to minimize cyber-attacks.  相似文献

This paper investigates and compares the performance of two GMPLS-based distributed control and management protocols for dynamic lightpath provisioning in future IP networks. The first protocol is a global information-based link state approach that consists of both an integrated RWA algorithm and a signaling algorithm. Two triggering mechanisms for the LSAs update procedures are considered; one is periodic-based and the other is threshold-based. This paper presents results showing the robustness of different SiC JFET transistors from SiCED in current limitation regime or short-circuit operation. Crystal temperature during failure was estimated after different electrical characterizations and using appropriate models of saturation current which is used as a thermal indicator.
