Micro powders of recycled wool and cotton from textile waste is prepared and characterized. Wool and cotton waste fibers were frozen in liquid nitrogen and milled for various period times to produce fine powders. The powders sizes distribution depends on the milling time. Scanning electron microscopy micrographs confirm that, the fine cotton and wool powders have average size around 60 μm, and that, there are powder particle with size even less than 20 μm. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermal gravimetrical analysis (TGA) results show that as the powder particle size decreases, its thermal stability increases slightly. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and amino acid analysis confirm that, the freeze milling technique is a safe technique to produce ultrafine powder, with no effect on the chemical structure of cotton and wool.  相似文献

The present work aimed to investigate the processing of textural clay based materials using tape casting together with freezing. Two model raw materials were used, namely: BIP kaolin from France and ABM montmorillonite from Mediterranean region. The mixtures of both clays were studied, whereby, the amount of montmorillonite was 0, 5, 10, 20 or 50 mass%. After tape casting, the as-obtained green bands were frozen into liquid nitrogen, lyophilized and then fired at 1050 °C or 1200 °C.The amount of montmorillonite appeared as a critical parameter that controls the cohesion of the dry products. For montmorillonite content ≥20 mass%, the products exhibited multiple cracks after lyophilisation. With lower montmorillonite content, the cohesion of the dry products was satisfactorily and a macroscopic cross-linked surface texturation was observed. After calcination at 1050 °C or 1200 °C, the texturation appeared well defined. Moreover, calcination at 1200 °C increased the densification of products and the occurrence of a glassy phase was noted.The combination of both tape casting and freezing (freeze tape casting) is a promising way to develop various clay-based and composites materials exhibiting unique microstructure organization and characteristics with potential application in the field sustainable and environmentally friendly filtration, adsorption or catalysis.  相似文献

Cotton having good antibacterial activity can be obtained without the need for a binding chemical as a cross linker or the need for chemically pre-treated antibacterial agent. The procedure of synthesis consists in grafting an alkali-cellulose fibre by a quaternary ammonium salt: Epoxy propyltrimethylammonium chloride (EPTMAC). The characterization of grafted cotton (EPTMAC-Cotton) has been targeted on the nitrogen and the methyl group in the ammonium graft structure, by using some analytical techniques, such as infrared, NMR spectroscopy, and volumetric measurement. The antibacterial activity of EPTMAC-Cotton has been studied using four kinds of bacterial stains (Escherichia coli 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa 27853, Staphylococcus aureus 259223 and Salmonella LT2DT104 typhimirium). An optimization of conditions of culture medium has been carried out for the bacterial strain for which the modified cotton presents the best antibacterial activity. This optimization is achieved while varying the most important parameters influencing the bacterial growth. We have chosen the pH and the sodium chloride concentration as variable parameters, and we have applied an experiment plant, in order to consider all possible combinations of experiments, and therefore, to estimate the effect of each factor, as well as the effect of their interaction. It has been noticed that a quaternary ammonium salt (EPTMAC) is an efficient antibacterial agent, especially against salmonella in alkaline medium slightly concentrated in salt, and its action depends, in some manner, on the whitening procedure of cotton.  相似文献

The aim of the present work was to investigate the applicability of a Wavelet Neural Network to describe the inactivation pattern of Listeria monocytogenes by high hydrostatic pressure in ultra high temperature (UHT) whole milk, and evaluate its performance against models used in predictive microbiology such as the re-parameterized Gompertz and modified Weibull equations. A comparative study with linear partial least squares regression (PLS-R) as well as neural network (NN) models demonstrated on the same dataset has been also considered. Milk was artificially inoculated with an initial population of the pathogen of ca. 107 CFU/ml and exposed to a range of high pressures (350, 450, 550, 600 MPa) for up to 40 min at ambient temperature (ca. 25 °C). Typical survival curves were obtained including a shoulder, a log-linear and a tailing phase. Increasing the magnitude of the applied pressure resulted in increasing levels of inactivation. Modelling approaches provided good fit to experimental training data as inferred by the low values of the root mean squared error (RMSE) and the high values of regression coefficient (R2). Models were validated at 400 and 500 MPa with independent experimental data. First or second order polynomial models were employed to relate the inactivation parameters to pressure, whereas the wavelet network as well as the PLS and NN models were utilised as a one-step modelling approach. The prediction performance of the proposed learning-based network was better at both validation pressures. The development of accurate models to describe the survival curves of micro-organisms in high pressure treatment would be very important to the food industry for process optimisation, food safety and would eventually expand the applicability of this non-thermal process.  相似文献

Optical emission efficiency of two-dimensional layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is one of the most important parameters affecting their optoelectronic performance.The optimization of the growth parameters by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to achieve optoelectronic-grade quality TMDs is,therefore,highly desirable.Here,we present a systematic photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopic approach to assess the intrinsic optical and crystalline quality of CVD grown MoS2 (CVD MoS2).We propose the use of the intensity ratio between the PL measured in air and vacuum as an effective way to monitor the intrinsic optical quality of CVD MoS2.Low-temperature PL measurements are also used to evaluate the structural defects in MoS2,via defect-associated bound exciton emission,which well correlates with the field-effect carrier mobility of MoS2 grown at different temperatures.This work therefore provides a sensitive,noninvasive method to characterize the optical properties of TMDs,allowing the tuning of the growth parameters for the development of optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

The focus of this study is on modeling and management of a Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) based on a Hybrid Excitation Synchronous Generator (HESG). Using a wind simulator, two controllers, CRONE and H, are evaluated for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and optimal rotation speed. The results show the CRONE controller's higher tracking capability, and robustness tests investigate the influence of parametric uncertainty. Space harmonic effects, commutation effects, and turbine shaft flexibility are all addressed in the sophisticated models. The introduction of Fractional Order Proportional-Integral (FOPI) control for MPPT is a game changer. Although fractional calculus-based accuracy and robustness are uncommon in WECS, they show promise for emissions reduction and increased energy efficiency. This work validates a dependable control approach inside an isolated HESG-based WECS's power-maximizing range. Extensive investigation of the parameters impacting FOPI control efficiency yields useful insights for effective MPPT control. A variable-speed wind turbine (WT) is linked to a HESG through a multiplier, with a controller controlling generator coil excitation voltages and a rectifier connecting the WECS to a load. A thorough 3 kW HESG electrical model that includes generator space harmonics and converter commutation effects is among the contributions. For HESG-based WECS stability, frequency analysis finds important resonant and anti-resonant frequencies. These issues are addressed by a FOPI control technique, which ensures system stability and performance. The necessity of exact frequency analysis in HESG-based WECS is highlighted by a step-by-step controller parameter tuning approach.  相似文献

Self-aggregation of Curcumin (Cur) in aqueous biological environment decreases its bioavailability and in vivo therapeutic efficacy, which hampers its clinical use as candidate for reducing risk of neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we focused on the design of new Cur- β-Cyclodextrin nanoconjugates to improve the solubility and reduce cell toxicity of Cur. In this study, we described the synthesis, structural characterization, photophysical properties and neuron cell toxicity of two new water soluble β-CD/Cur nanoconjugates as new strategy for reducing risks of neurodegenerative diseases. Cur was coupled to one or two β-CD molecules via triazole rings using CuAAC click chemistry strategy to yield β-CD@Cur and (β-CD)2@Cur nanoconjugates, respectively. The synthesized nanoconjugates were found to be able to self-assemble in aqueous condition and form nano-aggregates of an average diameter size of around 35 and 120 nm for β-CD@Cur and (β-CD)2@Cur, respectively. The photophysical properties, water solubility and cell toxicity on rat embryonic cortical neurons of the designed nanoconjugates were investigated and compared to that of Cur alone. The findings revealed that both new nanoconjugates displayed better water solubility and in vitro biocompatibility than Cur alone, thus making it possible to envisage their use as future nano-systems for the prevention or risk reduction of neurodegenerative diseases.  相似文献

The diverse and ubiquitous consumption of polymers urges the necessity to make these materials easily available. However, the excessively used petrochemical-based polymers such as poly(vinyl) chloride (PVC) are nonbiodegradable, which is a motivation to modify it with “green” alternatives. In the present study, PVC (Mw = 48 000 g mol−1) has been incorporated with cornstarch (CS) to synthesize a series of 25 samples of bioplastics in addition to blank polymer samples. The films of five various thicknesses (0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, and 1.0 mm) have been synthesized using in situ polymerization. Each sample of pure PVC film and bioplastic has been induced with different concentrations of CS in the range of 1–5 wt %. The synthesized samples were subjected to the structural characterization by using Fourier transform infrared. Thermogravimetric analysis has demonstrated the three-step degradation with the improved stability of 250 °C. The 3% concentration of CS has shown the optimum storage modulus (E′) of 1 660 MPa from dynamic mechanical analysis and Tan δ as 0.50. The swelling test performed using water has shown an induction of hydrophilicity in PVC up to 4%. Two activated carbons were obtained from pistachio shells by impregnation with H3PO4 under standard conditions of acid concentration (50 wt%) and heat treatment at 773 K for 2 h. The soaking time was 24 and 72 h for the two samples before thermal pyrolysis. Analysis of the N2/77 K adsorption isotherms proved that both were highly adsorbing carbons with considerable microporosity, and that the prolonged contact with activant enhanced total porosity (surface area and pore volume) and increased the amount of mesoporosity. Adsorption isotherms of probe molecules, viz methylene blue (MB), rhodamine B (RB), phenol (P) and p‐nitrophenol (PNP), were determined at room temperature, from aqueous solutions. Both the Langmuir and Freundlich model adsorption equations show satisfactory fit to experimental data. Both carbons exhibit similar adsorption parameters irrespective of their porosity characteristics. The sequence of uptake per unit weight was: PNP > MB > RB > P. Low affinity towards phenol may be associated with its competition with water molecules which are more favourably attracted to the acid surface which has a high oxygen functionality. Preferred adsorption in the order PNP > MB > RB is proposed to be a function of carbon porosity, related to the increased molecular dimensions of the solutes. Adsorption from a binary mixture of equal concentrations of MB and RB showed reduced uptake for both sorbates in comparison to the single component experiments. RB removal surpasses that of MB in the binary test and may be attributed to lower water solubility and higher molecular dimensions. Copyright © 2003 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Psychotherapists were surveyed regarding clients' memories of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). The 3 samples were highly similar on the vast majority of measures. Respondents listed a wide variety of behavioral symptoms as potential indicators of CSA, and 71% indicated that they had used various techniques (e.g., hypnosis, interpretation of dreams) to help clients recover suspected memories of CSA . Across samples, 25% of the respondents reported a constellation of beliefs and practices suggestive of a focus on memory recovery, and these psychologists reported relatively high rates of memory recovery in their clients.
