ABSTRACT

A mathematical model for simulation of softwood drying also in temperatures exceeding the boiling point of water is presented. The equations are formulated in a conservative form based on the classical volume averaging technique with an addition of a pressure-driven moisture flux in the boundary condition. Numerical results using the control volume method are presented to show that this term missing in existing simulation models may account far the calculated build up of moisture at the very surface of a wood board. The possibility of neglecting the air- phase in the calculation of total gaseous pressure is investigated by means of an example. It shows that the effect of air pressure is only of very litde importance in the case of transversal flow in moderate tempertures.  相似文献

A concept of realizing a standard for aerosol particle number concentration was tested, based on generating singly charged aerosol particles in the size range from 10 up to 500 nm. To this end, a device named single-charged aerosol reference (SCAR) was designed, built, and tested. The device is based on electrical charging of nanoparticles and subsequent growth of the particles. With an accurate measurement of volume flow and electrical current from the singly charged particles, the number concentration can be accurately, and in the end, traceably determined. Laboratory tests have shown that the device can be used to generate a narrow (GSD<1.3) particle size distribution of singly charged particles. The device can be used for traceable calibration of instruments measuring the number concentration of the particles.  相似文献

Diblock copolymers based on polystyrene (PS) macroinitiators and four different fluorinated monomers (perfluorooctyl ethyl methacrylate (FMA), pentafluorostyrene (FS), perfluorooctyl-ethylene oxymethyl styrene (EMS), 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,10-heptadecafluorodecaoxy)styrene (FSF)) were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The lengths of the PS and fluorinated blocks were altered and the surface and self-assembling properties of the polymers were compared with respect to the fluorinated monomer used and the fluorine content. The surface properties, contact angles and surface tension, were enhanced by the existence of the CF3 groups at the end of the alkyl chains compared with poly(pentafluorostyrene). Hydrophobicity of the surfaces was further enhanced by electrospinning the polymer solutions, which yielded superhydrophobic surfaces with water contact angles >150° for polymers having CF3 groups.  相似文献

Electrospun fibres of thermally responsive triblock copolymer polystyrene‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐polystyrene were prepared. Fibre morphology and swelling were studied below and above the lower critical solution temperature of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) using cryo‐electron microscopy. Cryo‐transmission electron microscopy showed that the fibre diameter increased up to 150% after immersion in water at 20 °C. In contrast, at 45 °C the fibre diameter increased considerably less. The sessile drop technique was used to characterize temperature‐dependent wetting of fibre mats. Contact angle (θCA) measurements revealed that a block copolymer fibre mat changed from hydrophobic (θCA > 90°) to hydrophilic (θCA < 90°) state within seconds after applying a water droplet on it at 20 °C. At 40 °C the initial contact angle was measured to be higher (135°) and it decreased much less than at 20 °C during the first minute of measurement. We observed using scanning electron microscopy that the electrospun fibres of the block copolymer having 77 wt% of PNIPAM lost their cylindrical shape and changed from fibres to thin sheets at both 20 and 40 °C within seconds after applying water on the fibres. Fibres having 55 wt% of PNIPAM were observed to be stable in water at both 20 and 40 °C, which resulted, surprisingly, in fibre mats with the strongest effects on thermally sensitive wetting. We discuss the surprising results and the implications that the evolution of fibre surface roughness has on the long‐term wetting behaviour, demonstrating a self‐adaptable hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity nature of the fibre mats. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of oxygen-free phosphorous-alloyed copper was investigated in sulphide- and chloride-containing deoxygenated water at 90°C with sulphide concentrations of 0.001 and 0.00001 M. Several intergranular defects were found in the specimen exposed to the high sulphide environment. Similar defects were not found in the low sulphide environment, where only slight corrosion on grain boundaries and slip lines occurred. Hydrogen content measurements show an increase in hydrogen uptake of the plastically deformed specimens, which is dependent on the sulphide concentration and on plastic deformation of copper. However, the highest hydrogen content was measured in friction stir welds, welded in air without shielding gas, and tested in the high sulphide environment. The embedded oxide particles in the weld metal act as local hydrogen trapping sites and selectively react with the sulphide solution. A relatively thick air-formed oxide film covers the copper canisters when deposited, which transforms into a sulphide film in the repository conditions. Thus, some of the coupon specimens were pre-oxidised. The conversion of the pre-existing Cu2O film into Cu2S film occurs quickly and the transformation is almost 100% efficient. The structure and properties of the Cu2S films, susceptibility of copper to sulphide-induced SCC and hydrogen uptake of copper in reducing, anoxic repository conditions are discussed.  相似文献

Ferritic nodular cast iron, intended for use as the material for inserts of canisters for long-term geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel, was studied for hydrogen sensitivity. In the canisters, the insert provides the mechanical strength against external loads. Hydrogen was charged from 0.1 N H2SO4 solution in free-corrosion tests and under controlled cathodic potential. Hydrogen uptake and trapping were then measured using thermal desorption spectroscopy. The hydrogen desorption rate after hydrogen charging manifests two distinct peaks. Plastic deformation during hydrogen charging increases the hydrogen uptake considerably. Hydrogen reduces the elongation to fracture and time to fracture in slow strain rate testing and constant load testing (CLT), respectively. Especially, the strain rate in CLT is dramatically increased. The appearance of hydrogen-induced cracking in the ferrite phase changes from ductile dimple fracture to brittle cleavage fracture due to hydrogen charging, which initiates from the interphases of the graphite nodules. The results are discussed in terms of the role of hydrogen and the graphite nodules in hydrogen embrittlement of ductile cast iron.  相似文献

This study compared the nutrient capital of the forest floor, the nutrient status of trees, and the growth of a stand of Norway spruce (Picea abies L. (Karst.)) planted on a whole-tree harvesting treatment (needles left on site) with a conventional stem-only harvesting treatment 30 years after clearcutting. No significant treatment effects were detected in the amount of organic matter, the amounts of nutrients in the forest floor, or the concentrations of foliar nutrients. The results indicate that whole-tree harvesting with the needles left on the site did not reduce the long-term nutrient capital of the forest floor or the nutritional status of trees. Whole-tree harvesting significantly reduced the height of dominant spruce compared to stem-only harvesting, however the stem volume of dominant spruce did not differ between the harvesting treatments. The greater height growth of the dominant trees in the stem-only harvesting treatment could be attributed to indirect factors other than changes in site resource availability (e.g. protection against frost damage), and hence the effect of whole-tree harvesting on potential site productivity was inconclusive due to the confounding effect of site factors. In the whole-tree harvesting treatment, the total stem volume of the stand and, consequently, the actual site productivity, was lower when compared to stem-only harvesting due to the lower density of naturally regenerated seedlings.  相似文献

For the time integration of semilinear systems of differential equations, a class of multiderivative exponential integrators is considered. The methods are based on a Taylor series expansion of the semilinearity about the numerical solution, the required derivatives are computed by automatic differentiation. Inserting these derivatives into the variation-of-constants formula results in an exponential integrator which requires the action of the exponential of an augmented Jacobian only.The convergence properties of such exponential integrators are analyzed, and potential sources of numerical instabilities are identified. In particular, it is shown that local linearization gives rise to better stability for stiff problems. A number of numerical experiments illustrate the theoretical results.  相似文献

This study partly supports the hypothesis that frontal lobe lesions cause impairment of metamemory. Fifty-nine patients with a focal brain lesion and 21 non-brain-damaged patients memorized a 4?×?4 matrix of 16 faces in 6 consecutive trials and predicted the number of locations of faces they would be able to remember before each retrieval. When age-related impairment of learning was adjusted, the patients with right posterior lesions were inferior to the controls and to the patients with right frontal lesions on the total number of correctly placed faces. The patients with right frontal lesions were less accurate than the patients with right posterior lesions or the controls in the prediction of retrieval.
