Atorvastatin calcium (ATRC) is a poor water soluble drug used for treatment of hypercholesterolemia. This research is aimed to improve solubility and dissolution rate of ATRC by formulating into solid self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (S-SNEDDS) using N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) as cosolvent. Solubility of ATRC was determined in various vehicles. Ternary phase diagrams were constructed to identify stable nanoemulsion region. SNEDDS formulations were evaluated for robustness to dilution, thermodynamic stability study, % transmittance, self-emulsification time, globule size and transmission electron microscopy. The optimized liquid SNEDDS showed robust to all dilutions exhibiting no signs of phase separation or precipitation for 24?h. Liquid SNEDDS was transformed into S-SNEDDS using different adsorbents. Differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy studies unravel the transformation of native crystalline state to amorphous state/solubilized state. In vitro dissolution study of S-SNEDDS was found to be significantly higher in comparison to that from plain drug, irrespective of pH (p?ex vivo permeation studies showed a 4.45-fold improvement in apparent permeability coefficient (Papp) from S-SNEDDS compared to plain drug. In conclusion, S-SNEDDS prepared using NMP as cosolvent provides an effective approach for improved oral delivery of ATRC.  相似文献

Multi-agent systems require adaptability to perform effectively in complex and dynamic environments. This article shows that agents should be able to benefit from dynamically adapting their decision-making frameworks. A decision-making framework describes the set of multi-agent decision-making interactions exercised by members of an agent group in the course of pursuing a goal or set of goals. The decision-making interaction style an agent adopts with respect to other agents influences that agent's degree of autonomy. The article introduces the capability of Dynamic Adaptive Autonomy (DAA), which allows an agent to dynamically modify its autonomy along a defined spectrum (from command-driven to consensus to locally autonomous/master) for each goal it pursues. This article presents one motivation for DAA through experiments showing that the ‘best’ decision-making framework for a group of agents depends not only on the problem domain and pre-defined characteristics of the system, but also on run-time factors that can change during system operation. This result holds regardless of which performance metric is used to define ‘best’. Thus, it is possible for agents to benefit by dynamically adapting their decision-making frameworks to their situation during system operation.  相似文献

Fabrication of metallic Au nanopillars and linear arrays of Au‐containing nanodots for plasmonic waveguides is reported in this article by two different processes—focused ion beam (FIB) milling of deposited thin films and electron beam‐induced deposition (EBID) of metallic nanostructures from an organometallic precursor gas. Finite difference time domain (FDTD) modeling of electromagnetic fields around metallic nanostructures was used to predict the optimal size and spacing between nanostructures useful for plasmonic waveguides. Subsequently, a multi‐step FIB fabrication method was developed for production of metallic nanorods and nanopillars of the size and geometry suggested by the results of the FDTD simulations. Nanostructure fabrication was carried out on planar substrates including Au‐coated glass, quartz, and mica slides as well as cleaved 4‐mode optical fibers. In the second fabrication process, EBID was utilized for the development of similar nanostructures on planar Indium Tin Oxide and Titanium‐coated glass substrates. Each method allows formation of nanostructures such that the plasmon resonances associated with the nanostructures could be engineered and precisely controlled by controlling the nanostructure size and shape. Linear arrays of low aspect ratio nanodot structures ranging in diameter between 50–70 nm were fabricated using EBID. We report structural, DC magnetization, linear and non-linear AC susceptibility for phase pure RuSr2Y1.5Ce0.5Cu2O10 (YRu-1222) magneto-superconductor. The studied compound is synthesized through HPHT (high pressure high temperature: 6 GPa, 1400° C) technique at NIMS-Japan. As synthesized YRu-1222, is crystallized in single phase tetragonal structure with space group I4/mmm. DC magnetic susceptibility showed that studied YRu-1222 is a magneto-superconductor with Ru spins magnetic ordering at around 120 K and superconductivity in the Cu-O2 planes below ~40 K. The frequency and field dependent AC susceptibility measurements confirmed the spin-glass (SG) behavior with homogenous/non-homogenous ferromagnetic clusters for the studied system. The frequency variation followed the Vogel–Fulcher law with homogeneous/non-homogenous magnetically interacting ferromagnetic clusters embedded in spin-glass (SG) matrix. Detailed linear and non-linear AC susceptibility measurements are carried out to probe the exact magnetic nature of the studied magneto-superconductor YRu-1222.  相似文献

Silver nanowire films are promising alternatives to tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) films as transparent conductive electrodes. In this paper, we report the use of vacuum filtration and a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-assisted transfer printing technique to fabricate silver nanowire films on both rigid and flexible substrates, bringing advantages such as the capability of patterned transfer, the best performance among various ITO alternatives (10 Ω/sq at 85% transparency), and good adhesion to the underlying substrate, thus eliminating the previously reported adhesion problem. In addition, our method also allows the preparation of high quality patterned films of silver nanowires with different line widths and shapes in a matter of few minutes, making it a scalable process. Furthermore, use of an anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane in the transfer process allows annealing of nanowire films at moderately high temperature to obtain films with extremely high conductivity and good transparency. Using this transfer technique, we obtained silver nanowire films on a flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate with a transparency of 85%, a sheet resistance of 10 Ω/sq, with good mechanical flexibility. Detailed analysis revealed that the Ag nanowire network exhibits two-dimensional percolation behavior with good agreement between experimentally observed and theoretically predicted values of critical volume.   相似文献

Isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) was used to identify the optimal timolol:functional monomer ratio for preparing soft contact lenses (SCLs) able to sustain drug release. ITC profiles revealed that each timolol molecule required six to eight acrylic acid (AAc) monomers to saturate the binding and that these ratios could be the most suitable for creating imprinted cavities. Various poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate‐co‐AAc) hydrogels 0.2 and 0.9 mm thick were prepared with timolol:AAc molar ratios ranging from 1 : 6 to 1 : 32 and also in the absence of timolol. The hydrogels were reloaded with timolol by immersion in 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, and 0.10 mM drug solutions. Both imprinted and nonimprinted hydrogels showed a high affinity for the drug because of the presence of AAc. Nevertheless, the 1 : 6 and 1 : 8 imprinted hydrogels loaded less timolol but sustained the release better than the other hydrogels. These differences were explained in terms of the different arrangement of the functional monomers along the network. The imprinting effect was more noticeable in the case of the thinnest hydrogels, where the contribution of the diffusion path to the release rate was smaller. The results obtained prove the interest of ITC for the rational design of drug‐imprinted networks to be used as medicated SCLs. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2011  相似文献

The problem of extracting anatomical structures from medical images is both very important and difficult. In this paper we are motivated by a new paradigm in medical image segmentation, termed Citizen Science, which involves a volunteer effort from multiple, possibly non-expert, human participants. These contributors observe 2D images and generate their estimates of anatomical boundaries in the form of planar closed curves. The challenge, of course, is to combine these different estimates in a coherent fashion and to develop an overall estimate of the underlying structure. Treating these curves as random samples, we use statistical shape theory to generate joint inferences and analyze this data generated by the citizen scientists. The specific goals in this analysis are: (1) to find a robust estimate of the representative curve that provides an overall segmentation, (2) to quantify the level of agreement between segmentations, both globally (full contours) and locally (parts of contours), and (3) to automatically detect outliers and help reduce their influence in the estimation. We demonstrate these ideas using a number of artificial examples and real applications in medical imaging, and summarize their potential use in future scenarios.  相似文献

This paper deals with the design of a \(2\times 2\) Integrated Filter Antenna array working at 5.2 GHz for IEEE 802.11a WLAN application. The filtering action is incorporated into the conventional antenna array, rendering enhanced selectivity and sharper gain roll-off than the conventional approach. An equivalent circuit model is extracted to validate the working of the proposed design. Fractional band width of \(3.0\%\) around 5.2 GHz (ranging between 5.15 and 5.31 GHz) and maximum gain of 11.11 dBi is obtained through this design.  相似文献
