The electrolytic recovery of copper is one of the methods of preventing the formation of sludges generated by conventional treatments. Electrolysis of metal ions in dilute solutions using vertical electrodes results in low recovery. Therefore, a design consisting of a rotating tubular bed reactor with extended cathode surfaces was developed to improve the mass transfer in the cell. The electrolytic conditions were fixed in a Hull cell prior to the actual electrolysis in the reactor. Two types of copper solution obtained from actual industrial sites were used. This process allowed the copper concentrations in the solutions to be reduced to low levels. More importantly, a combination of electrolytic and ion exchange treatments further reduced the copper content below the p.p.m. levels. This technique not only recovers more copper but also protects the environment with additional economic savings.  相似文献

A topoisomerase-DNA transient covalent complex can be a druggable target for novel topoisomerase poison inhibitors that represent a new class of antibacterial or anticancer drugs. Herein, we have investigated molecular features of the functionally important Escherichia coli topoisomerase I (EctopoI)-DNA covalent complex (EctopoIcc) for molecular simulations, which is very useful in the development of new antibacterial drugs. To demonstrate the usefulness of our approach, we used a model small molecule (SM), NSC76027, obtained from virtual screening. We examined the direct binding of NSC76027 to EctopoI as well as inhibition of EctopoI relaxation activity of this SM via experimental techniques. We then performed molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to investigate the dynamics and stability of EctopoIcc and EctopoI-NSC76027-DNA ternary complex. Our simulation results show that NSC76027 forms a stable ternary complex with EctopoIcc. EctopoI investigated here also serves as a model system for investigating a complex of topoisomerase and DNA in which DNA is covalently attached to the protein.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the use of liposome in the dyeing of wool and mohair fibres with acid dyestuffs. Soybean lecithin and cholesterol were used to form the liposome membrane utilised in the dyebath. Liposome production was performed according to the thin lipid layer method (Bangham Method) using a rotary evaporator. Two different forms of liposome were used for dyeing wool and mohair fibres. In its first form, liposome was utilised as an auxiliary agent, where it was added to a conventional dyebath at the beginning of the process. In its second form, dyes were encapsulated with liposome and then used in dyeing. The effects of these two different forms of liposome were compared with conventional dyeing. Dyeing was carried out at depths of shade of 0.5%, 1.0% and 2.0% using three different concentrations of liposome (0.33%, 0.66% and 1.33%). An analysis of K/S values, fastness to washing, and the alkali solubility of fibres was conducted. The fibre samples dyed in the presence of liposome exhibited very good fastness to light (grade 8). The wash fastness test results of the liposomal‐dyed samples were significantly better (grade 4‐5) than for those samples which were conventionally dyed. In the presence of liposome, the tensile strength of fibres was 20 gf, whereas it was 11 gf without liposomes.  相似文献

The impacts of water and ethanolic extracts of propolis at a dose of 0.4 or 0.8% on vacuum packaged sardine fillets inoculated with Morganella psychrotolerans DSM 17886 during storage at 3 ± 1°C for 15 days were investigated. All fish groups were inoculated with M. psychrotolerans (108 cfu/ml) at a rate of 1%. Sensory, colorimetric, chemical analysis (total volatile basic nitrogen, thiobarbituric acid, peroxide values, and free fatty acids), pH value, and microbiological analysis (viable mesophilic and psychrophilic bacteria, coliform, and lactic acid bacteria count) were carried out. An enhance in L* values was found in the group treated with 0.8% ethanolic extracts of propolis on the seventh day of the storage. Application of propolis extract on fish fillets significantly inhibited bacterial growth during storage and extended shelf life of sardine for 4 and 6 days by the use of water extract and for 8 days by the use of ethanolic extract at doses of 0.4 and 0.8%, respectively. The result of the study revealed that application of propolis extracts, mainly ethanolic propolis extracts on sardine fillets resulted in lower lipid oxidation and bacterial growth, therefore, could be natural food additive for preservation of fish fillets.  相似文献

This study focuses mainly on the prediction of saturated flow boiling heat transfer in microchannels. A wide range of experiments has been carried out with de-ionized water to obtain a comprehensive data set. Experiments of mass fluxes of 51–728.7 kg/m2s, wall heat fluxes of 36–221.7 kW/m2, vapor qualities of 0.01–0.69, liquid Reynolds number of 7.72–190, aspect ratios of 0.37–5.00 (with a constant hydraulic diameter of 100 µm) and hydraulic diameters of 100–250 µm (for constant aspect ratio = 1). A new correlation including the aspect ratio effect is proposed to predict the heat transfer coefficient for saturated flow boiling in microchannels. The proposed correlation shows very good predictions with an overall mean absolute error of 16.9% and 86.4%, 96.2% and 99.5% of the predicted data falling within ±30, ±40 and ±50% error bands, respectively.  相似文献

In the present study, laminar pulsating power-law momentum and heat transfer in a uniformly heated plane duct is studied analytically. Assuming that fully developed conditions exist both hydrodynamically and thermally, a perturbation series method is utilized to derive analytical solutions for the momentum and energy balance equations, and the amplitude is prescribed as the perturbation parameter. For varying values of the power-law index ( n $n$ ), representing pseudoplastic, Newtonian, and dilatant fluids, effects of dimensionless amplitude ( ϵ $\epsilon $ ) and frequency ( F $F$ ) on periodic and period-averaged friction factor and Nusselt number are obtained. The results obtained for Newtonian fluid are shown to be in good harmony with the corresponding findings in the open literature.  相似文献

Summary: Five new crosslinkers for use in dental composites were synthesized. Four are based on TBHMA: 1 via reaction of TBBr and Bisphenol A; 2 by hydrolysis of t‐butyl groups of the first monomer to give a diacid derivative; 3 by conversion of the first monomer to an amide derivative using benzyl amine; 4 by conversion of the first monomer to amide derivative using APTES. The AHM‐based monomer 5 was synthesized from the Michael addition of APTES to AHM. The photopolymerization behaviors of the synthesized monomers with Bis‐GMA, TEGDMA and HEMA were investigated using photodifferential scanning calorimetry at 40 °C using DMPA as photoinitiator. The polymerization rates and degrees of conversion for mixtures of any of the monomers 1 – 4 with Bis‐GMA:TEGDMA were found to be similar to Bis‐GMA:TEGDMA, higher than Bis‐GMA:HEMA, and also higher than mixtures with Bis‐GMA:HEMA. The incorporation of TBHMA‐based monomers into the conventional resin mixture (Bis‐GMA and TEGDMA) reduced the polymerization shrinkages. Monomer 5 and its mixtures polymerized much faster and to higher degrees of conversion than the other investigated systems, however, this system exhibited the largest volume shrinkage.

Nano-silica particles were deposited on acid-etched hydrophilic aluminum (Al) substrates by immersion in well-dispersed nano-silica aqueous suspension and tetramethylamonium hydroxide, followed by a heat treatment. The surface was then further treated by a reaction with fluorosilane. The hydrophobicity, surface morphology, and mechanical properties of the coated Al substrates were investigated, along with their electrochemical properties over time of exposure to two NaCl solutions (0.3% and 3% by weight). All the coated Al surfaces exhibited a water contact angle of 155–158°, i.e., superhydrophobicity. The use of nano-silica suspension significantly enhanced the hydrophobicity of the coated Al. Artificial neural networks were used to provide quantitative understanding in how the microstructure of the treated Al surface contributed to its superhydrophobicity and electrochemical properties. When Ra, total (nano-roughness + micro-roughness) exceeds 450 nm, WCA is greater than 154°, independent of the nano/micro-roughness ratio (RRNM). FESEM and AFM images of these surfaces suggest that a rough two-length-scale hierarchical structure coupled with the low surface energy of fluorosilane topcoat led to the superhydrophobicity of the formed coatings. The coating prepared with the 0.2% nano-silica suspension (vs. other concentrations) featured the highest Young's modulus and the best corrosion protection to the Al substrate in both NaCl solutions.  相似文献
