This study employs expectancy theory to evaluate some key factors that motivate students to participate in the teaching evaluation process. The results show that engineering students generally consider the improvement of teaching to be the most important outcome of teaching evaluations, followed by the improvement of course content and format. Making the results of evaluations available for students' decisions on course and instructor selection ranked third, while the least important use was influencing a professor's tenure, promotion, and salary raise. Students' motivation to participate in teaching evaluations is also impacted significantly by their expectation that they will be able to provide meaningful feedback.  相似文献

In the evaluation of accurate weight functions for the coefficients of first few terms of the linear elastic crack tip fields and the crack opening displacement (COD) using the finite element method (FEM), singularities at the crack tip and the loading point need to be properly considered. The crack tip singularity can be well captured by a hybrid crack element (HCE), which directly predicts accurate coefficients of first few terms of the linear elastic crack tip fields. A penalty function technique is introduced to handle the point load. With the use of these methods numerical results of a typical wedge splitting (WS) specimen subjected to wedge forces at arbitrary locations on the crack faces are obtained. With the help of appropriate interpolation techniques, these results can be used as weight functions. The range of validity of the so-called Paris equation, which is widely used in the evaluation of the COD from the stress intensity factors (SIFs), is established.  相似文献

The reducibility of Ce—Al—O and Cu—Ce—Al—O solids is studied by H2-TPR and EPR in order to identify the different ceria and copper oxide species. The study of Ce—Al—O oxides shows that dispersion of ceria on alumina improves reducibility of ceria bulk and stabilizes surface ceria. Concerning quantitative results, ceria reduction extent is more important for Ce—Al—O oxides than for pure ceria. This result can be related to the dispersion of ceria on alumina which decreases ceria crystallites size and enhances the ceria bulk reduction. For ternary oxides, copper oxide and ceria interact strongly. Introduction of copper facilitated ceria reduction, and quantitatively, the presence of copper favors the total reduction of ceria contrary to Ce—Al—O oxides. When ceria loading is low, two copper species are identified, and are attributed to small clusters and highly dispersed copper oxides. During the reduction of copper species, a partial reduction of ceria is observed. Increasing of copper loading leads to the formation of CuO aggregates.  相似文献

Many studies have been carried out on two-phase flow heat transfer in channels with hydraulic diameter bigger than 6 mm, but relatively little work has been done for small diameter channels in the meso and compact range (diameter from 0.1 to 3 mm). The use of exchangers with small channels in refrigeration units, which are very numerous besides, could bring a significant reduction of the internal volume of the exchanger, and therefore diminish the refrigerant charge of the whole refrigerating system. One can imagine the interest to widen knowledge on the flow and the heat transfer in small-diameter tubes. This paper examine the thermal behavior of refrigerants boiling in small pipes. The correlations available for in-tube evaporation heat transfer coefficient are discussed and evaluated, when possible, and new research areas of relevance than can contribute to expand the use of small-diameter channels evaporators in refrigeration units are suggested.  相似文献

We calculate the magnetic field distribution of a permanent magnetic circuit with an air gap in a magnetic refrigerator by a finite-element method, and compare the field strengths of different structural parameters of the magnetic circuit. We show how the structure of the magnetic circuit can be optimized and present some approaches to improve the structure for a specific magnetic circuit. The main purpose is to provide basic parameters for the design of a practical magnetic refrigerator.  相似文献

Reconfigurable phase-locked loops (PLLs) present the advantage of fast-frequency acquisition combined with narrow-noise bandwidth, since their parameters can be dynamically adjusted. High-frequency PLLs are generally implemented by means of analog circuits which are not easily reconfigured during operation. However, the five-port technique allows the discrimination of the phase difference between two microwave signals using a mixed circuit. In this paper the design of a PLL comprising a five-port based phase detector is presented. This system benefits from the phase-detector digital circuit to carry out the loop filtering. Simulation results for different conditions of noise and frequency acquisition are shown. We also present measurement results to confirm the simulations.  相似文献

The task allocation on various components or processing units composing an automation system needs a design-aided methodology in order to obtain both relevant architecture of this automation system and a sufficiently efficient task allocation. The dependability, mainly illustrated in our approach by the availability of the process and by the reliability that characterizes the risk of incidents or accident occurrences, can be taken into account in the earliest stage of the automation system design. The main interest is that it allows for the definition of reliable operational and functional architectures. To achieve the task allocation, the search method used must integrate a notion of cost that includes both technological and functional aspects and those linked to the dependability. A genetic approach is used for the task allocation, giving a very satisfactory result in a reasonable computational time.  相似文献
