A systematic and extensive approach incorporating in vitro and in vivo experimentation to treat chronic osteomyelitis in animal model were made using antibiotic loaded special bioactive glass porous scaffolds. After thorough characterization for porosity, distribution, surface charge, a novel drug composite were infiltrated by using vacuum infiltration and freeze-drying method which was subsequently analyzed by SEM-EDAX and studied for in vitro drug elution in PBS and SBF. Osteomyelitis in rabbit was induced by inoculation of Staphylococcus aureus and optimum drug-scaffold were checked for its efficacy over control and parenteral treated animals in terms of histopathology, radiology, in vivo drug concentration in bone and serum and implant-bone interface by SEM. It was optimized that 60P samples with 60-65% porosity (bimodal distribution of macro- to micropore) with average pore size ~60 μm and higher interconnectivity, moderately high antibiotic adsorption efficiency (~49%) was ideal. Results after 42 days showed antibiotic released higher than MIC against S. aureus compared to parenteral treatment (2 injections a day for 6 weeks). In vivo drug pharmacokinetics and SEM on bone-defect interface proved superiority of CFS loaded porous bioactive glass implants over parenteral group based on infection eradication and new bone formation.  相似文献

Dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior in hot deformed (by uniaxial compression in a thermomechanical simulator in the temperatures range 1173 K to 1373 K [900 °C to 1100 °C]) Ti-modified austenitic stainless steel was studied using electron back scatter diffraction. Grain orientation spread with a “cut off” of 1 deg was a suitable criterion to partition dynamically recrystallized grains from the deformed matrix. The extent of DRX increased with strain and temperature, and a completely DRX microstructure with a fine grain size ~4 μm (considering twins as grain boundaries) was obtained in the sample deformed to a strain of 0.8 at 1373 K (1100 °C). The nucleation of new DRX grains occurred by the bulging of the parent grain boundary. The DRX grains were twinned, and a linear relationship was observed between the area fraction of DRX grains and the number fraction of Σ3 boundaries. The deviation from the ideal misorientation of Σ3 boundaries decreased with an increase in the fraction of Σ3 boundaries (as well as the area fraction of DRX) signifying that most Σ3 boundaries are newly nucleated during DRX. The generation of these Σ3 boundaries could account for the formation of annealing twins during DRX. The role of Σ3 twin boundaries on DRX is discussed.  相似文献

This paper presents an automated procedure for generation of high-level topologies for continuous-time ΣΔ modulator system. A functional topology of the system is generated from the given transfer function model of the modulator. Mathematical transformation technique is applied iteratively over the initial topology to generate a functional topology which is optimized for modulator sensitivity, hardware complexity and relative power consumption. This is then implemented using behavioral models of operational transconductance amplifiers and capacitors. The generated high-level topology is ensured to work with reasonable accuracy under non-ideal conditions. The entire procedure has been implemented in Matlab/Simulink environment. Numerical results have been provided to demonstrate the procedure.  相似文献

The authors describe a low-power, battery-free tag for use in pervasive sensing applications such as wearable patient-monitoring systems and body sensor networks. The tag consists of a custom integrated circuit, an antenna for RF energy harvesting, and several sensors for monitoring important physiological parameters and generating alarms when necessary. They also describe experimental results with phonocardiogram and photoplethysmogram signals and demonstrate tag localization within 0.6 m by using an audio localization scheme.  相似文献

In this study, Taguchi method and Regression analysis have been applied to assess machinability of AISI 4340 steel with newly developed Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA) ceramic inserts. Several experiments have been carried out based on an orthogonal array L9 with three parameters (depth of cut feed rate, cutting speed) at three levels (low, medium and high). Based on the mean response and signal to noise ratio (SNR), the best optimal cutting condition has been arrived at A2B1C1 i.e. cutting speed is 280 m/min, depth of cut is 0.5 mm and feed rate is 0.12 mm/rev considering the condition smaller is the better approach. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is applied to find out the significance and percentage contribution of each parameter. It has been observed that depth of cut has maximum contribution on tool wear. The mathematical model of flank wear has been developed using regression analysis as a function of the above mentioned independent variables. The predicted value from the developed model and experimental values are found to be very close to each other justifying the significance of the model. A confirmation run has been carried out with 95% confidence level to verify the optimized result and the values obtained are within the prescribed limit.  相似文献

Dielectric properties of iron doped CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO), viz. CaCu3Ti3.9Fe0.1O12 (CCTFO) prepared by a novel semi-wet route have been investigated. X-ray diffraction of powder sintered at 900 °C show formation of single phase solid solution. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) confirmed the presence of CuO rich phase at grain boundaries of CCTFO. Nature of dielectric relaxation observed above room temperature is studied using complex plane impedance analysis and modulus spectroscopy. It has been found that out of the two relaxations reported earlier above room temperature, one occurring at lower temperature is due to grainboundaries interfacial polarization.  相似文献

In this article, the method of nullifying the radiation pattern of a symmetric linear antenna array in a particular direction is propounded using an evolutionary swarm intelligence technique, Novel particle swarm optimization (NPSO). Particle swarm optimization with constriction factor approach (PSOCFA) is also adopted to compare the NPSO based results. Single or multiple wide nulls are achieved by optimum perturbations of elements current amplitude weights to have symmetric nulls about the main beam. Different numerical examples are presented to illustrate the capability of NPSO for pattern synthesis with a prescribed wide nulls locations and depths. Further, the peak Sidelobe Levels are also reduces when compared to a uniformly excited array having equal number of elements. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. BACKGROUND: Interleukin 10 (IL-10) decreases the severity of experimental acute pancreatitis. The role of endogenous IL-10 in modulating the course of pancreatitis is currently unknown. AIMS: To examine the systemic release of IL-10 and its messenger RNA production in the pancrease, liver, and lungs and analyse the effects of IL-10 neutralisation in caerulein induced acute pancreatitis in mice. METHODS: Acute necrotising pancreatitis was induced by intraperitoneal caerulein. Serum levels of IL-10 and tumour necrosis factor (TNF), and tissue IL-10 and TNF-alpha gene expression were assessed. After injecting control antibody or after blocking the activity of endogenous IL-10 by a specific monoclonal antibody, the severity of acute pancreatitis was assessed in terms of serum enzyme release, histological changes, and systemic and tissue TNF production. RESULTS: In control conditions, serum IL-10 levels increased and correlated with the course of pancreatitis, with a maximal value eight hours after induction. Both IL-10 and TNF-alpha messengers showed a similar course, and were identified in the pancreas, liver, and lungs. Neutralisation of endogenous IL-10 significantly increased the severity of pancreatitis and associated lung injury as well as serum TNF protein levels (+75%) and pancreatic, pulmonary, and hepatic TNF messenger expression (+33%, +29%, +43%, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: In this non-lethal model, systemic release of IL-10 correlates with the course of acute pancreatitis. This anti-inflammatory response parallels the release of TNF and both cytokines are produced multisystemically. Endogenous IL-10 controls TNF-alpha production and plays a protective role in the local and systemic consequences of the disease.  相似文献

We propose a reduced complexity wavelet-based image coding technique. Here, 64-D (for three stages of decomposition) vectors are formed by combining appropriate coefficients from the wavelet subimages, 16-D feature vectors are then extracted from the 64-D vectors on which vector quantization (VQ) is performed. At the decoder, 64-D vectors are reconstructed using a nonlinear interpolative technique. The proposed technique has a reduced complexity and has the potential to provide a superior coding performance when the codebook is generated using the training vectors drawn from similar images.  相似文献
