One of the major problems in pressure-driven membrane processes is reduction of flux far below the theoretical capacity of the membrane. The results of an experimental study of fouling mechanisms of ceramic membranes in separation of oil from synthesized oily wastewaters are presented. Mullite microfiltration (MF) membranes were synthesized from kaolin clay as MF ceramic membranes. The rejection of total organic carbon (TOC) for the synthetic feeds was found to be more than 94% by these membranes. Hermia's models were used to investigate the fouling mechanisms of membranes. The effect of pressure, cross flow velocity (CFV), temperature, oil concentration, and salt concentration on flux decline were investigated. The results showed that the cake filtration model can well predict the flux decline of mullite ceramic membranes; average error of this model is less than 7%. The results show that by increasing pressure from 0.5 to 4 bar, porosity of the cake layer on the mullite membranes decreases from 25.68% to 14.98%. After the cake filtration model, the intermediate pore blocking model was found to well predict the experimental data with an average error less than 10.5%.  相似文献

Discrete element modeling is employed to investigate the micromechanics of two granular assemblies subjected to constant-volume cyclic loading. For this purpose, two assemblies of spherical particles are modeled at the same confining pressure but with two different void ratios. The cyclic behaviors of the assemblies are inspected and the micromechanical parameters and their variations during cyclic loading are carefully observed and analyzed. The evolution of contact force networks with the progression of the loading cycles confirms that the contact force networks are hysteretic and their formation depends on the previous strain conditions of the assemblies. The distributions of the contact normals and their normal forces are also investigated to obtain a quantitative insight of the changes in the contact force networks. The probability distributions of the normal and tangential forces during cyclic loading are similar to the results of previous experimental studies that were conducted on two-dimensional specimens of granular materials. In addition, variations of the fabric tensors, which were calculated for strong contacts, are studied to trace the changes of the structural anisotropy of the specimens. The results suggest that the structural anisotropy of the specimens increases dramatically when they approach the state of liquefaction and that the degree of anisotropy is more profound in the strong contacts. Finally, the displacements of the particles during specific loading cycles are calculated to determine the relation between the movements of the particles and the changes in the macro-scale behavior of the two assemblies. The results of this study elaborate the origin of liquefaction phenomena with respect to the microstructure of the granular soils, showing the role of different mode of contacts failure in micro-scale (sliding and rolling) on the overall observed behavior of granular soils with two different relative densities, moreover the importance of strong and weak contacts in cyclic constant-volume loading of the media. It also emphasizes on the variation of structural anisotropy in undrained cyclic loading of granular media and its relationship with common soil behavior in macro-scale during liquefaction failure.  相似文献

Canola is widely grown in the northern latitudes for its vegetable oil, generating large quantities of residual, low value canola flour used as animal feed. The common wood adhesive poly(diphenylmethylene diisocyanate) (pMDI) should react with the wide variety of functional groups in proteins. Therefore, it would seem that canola flour with added pMDI could be an effective adhesive. Two main questions are addressed in this study: How do the wood adhesive properties of canola flour compare to the better-studied soy flour? How well do proteins, which contain an abundance of functional groups, cure with the very reactive pMDI? These questions were addressed using the small-scale adhesive strength test ASTM D-7998, with various adhesive formulations and bonding conditions for canola flour plus pMDI compared to soy adhesives. The more challenging wet cohesive bond strength was emphasized because the dry strengths were usually very good. Generally, soy adhesives were better than canola ones, as was the polyamidoamine-epichlorohydrin cross-linker compared to pMDI, but these generalizations can be altered by the conditions selected. Three-ply plywood tests supported the small-scale test results.  相似文献

Recently, electrospinning technique was applied successfully to fabricate porous hydrophobic membranes for MD applications. In this work, a novel triple layer configuration with diameter gradient for PVDF nanofiber membranes is proposed, with the objective of to minimize mass transfer resistance and heat loss. In outer layers of these membranes, the minimum concentration of PVDF (20 wt%) was used to produce bead-free nanofibers with thinner diameters and middle layers were composed of thicker nanofibers formed at higher polymer concentrations (21.5-26 wt%). Characterization of prepared membranes was conducted by the measurement of porosity, thickness, liquid entry pressure (LEP), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), contact angle, thermal and mechanical properties. Direct contact membrane distillation performance of fabricated membranes was tested using 42 g/L NaCl as feed solution. Water permeate flux of triple layer membranes (27.8-31.5 kg/m2 h) was found to be considerably higher than that obtained from single layer membrane (15.4 kg/m2 h), indicating the proposed configuration can effectively improve evaporation efficiency.  相似文献

In this research, the influence of nanoclay on urea–glyoxalated lignin–formaldehyde (GLUF) resin properties has been investigated. To prepare the GLUF resin, glyoxalated soda baggase lignin (15 wt%) was added as an alternative for the second urea during the UF resin synthesis. The prepared GLUF resin was mixed with the 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% nanoclay by mechanically stirring for 5 min at room temperature. The physicochemical properties of the prepared resins were measured according to standard methods. Then the resins were used in particleboard production and the physical and mechanical properties of the manufactured panels were determined. Finally, from the results obtained, the best prepared resin was selected and its properties were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Generally the results indicated that the addition of sodium-montmorillonite (NaMMT) up to 1.5% appears to improve the performance of GLUF resins in particleboards. The results also showed that nanoclays improved mechanical strength (modulus of elasticity (MOE), Modulus of Rupture (MOR), and internal bond (IB) strength) of the panels bonded with GLUF resins. The panels containing GLUF resin and nanoclay yielded lower formaldehyde emission as well as water absorption content than those made from the neat GLUF resins. XRD characterization indicated that NaMMT only intercalated when mixed with GLUF resin. Based on DSC results, the addition of NaMMT could accelerate the curing of GLUF resins. The enthalpy of the cure reaction (ΔH) of GLUF resin containing NaMMT was increased compared with neat GLUF resin. Also the results of FTIR analysis indicated that addition of NaMMT change the GLUF resins structures.  相似文献

In this paper an improved analytical method for estimating the limiting drawing ratio (LDR) for the first drawing stage is presented. In this method, the effects of parameters such as the geometry and the material properties of die arc region are taken into account for a more accurate determination of LDR. The results are compared to experiments and some other analytical methods reported in the literature. It is shown that the presented method is in good agreement with the experimental results and more accurate compared with other analytical methods. Using the presented method, the effect of some process parameters such as, coefficient of friction, strain hardening exponent, normal plastic anisotropy ratio, ratio of die arc radius to blank thickness and ratio of blank thickness to diameter on LDR is investigated.  相似文献

Incidence of aflatoxin M1 in human breast milk in Tehran, Iran   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
This study examined the exposure of infants to aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) and of lactating mothers to aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), using AFM1 in breast milk as a biomarker for exposure to AFB1. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was modified for the analysis of AFM1 in breast milk samples from 160 women in Tehran, Iran. AFM1 was detected in 157 samples by average concentration of 8.2 ± 5.1 ng/kg (range 0.3–26.7 ng/kg).The concentration of AFM1 in one sample was higher than the maximum tolerance limit accepted by European Union and USA (25 ng/kg), but in 55 samples was higher than the maximum concentration recommended by Australia and Switzerland (10 ng/kg).Logistic regression Analysis failed to show significant correlation between AFM1 and gestational age, education, postnatal age, gender, nationality, clinical condition, the number of family member, the number of children, type and amount of dairy consumption, vegetable, fruits, oil and meat. But it was significant relation to the cereal consumption, also to the height at birth.  相似文献

This paper considers the inverse 1-center location problem with edge length augmentation on a tree network T with n + 1 vertices. The goal is to increase the edge lengths at minimum total cost subject to given modification bounds such that a predetermined vertex s becomes an absolute 1-center under the new edge lengths. Using a set of suitably extended AVL-search trees we develop a combinatorial algorithm which solves the inverse 1-center location problem with edge length augmentation in O(n log n) time. Moreover, it is shown that the problem can be solved in O(n) time if all the cost coefficients are equal.  相似文献
