Testing and detecting potential defects in works of art is usually required to cause minimal or no damage; industrial Radiography Testing (RT) is often the method of choice provided the images are of the required high quality and yield high defect detection sensitivity. Various digital image processing methods can be employed to achieve improved image quality and information extraction as required. The level and nature of the noise in the RT images is usually unknown. In addition to the different noises, the image quality is degraded by the blurring effect. In this study, a modified form of the Fast Iterative Shrinkage-Thresholding Algorithm (FISTA) with quadratic regularization strategy was developed and applied to remove the blurring. The output of the application of the method to number RT images of five art objects was evaluated by industrial radiography and antiquities experts. It was confirmed that the applied method was efficient and improved image quality and defect detection.  相似文献

Recently, electrospinning technique was applied successfully to fabricate porous hydrophobic membranes for MD applications. In this work, a novel triple layer configuration with diameter gradient for PVDF nanofiber membranes is proposed, with the objective of to minimize mass transfer resistance and heat loss. In outer layers of these membranes, the minimum concentration of PVDF (20 wt%) was used to produce bead-free nanofibers with thinner diameters and middle layers were composed of thicker nanofibers formed at higher polymer concentrations (21.5-26 wt%). Characterization of prepared membranes was conducted by the measurement of porosity, thickness, liquid entry pressure (LEP), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), contact angle, thermal and mechanical properties. Direct contact membrane distillation performance of fabricated membranes was tested using 42 g/L NaCl as feed solution. Water permeate flux of triple layer membranes (27.8-31.5 kg/m2 h) was found to be considerably higher than that obtained from single layer membrane (15.4 kg/m2 h), indicating the proposed configuration can effectively improve evaporation efficiency.  相似文献

This paper reports on the reinforcing effects of different types of fillers, namely, nanoclay (NC), micron size calcium carbonate (MCC), and micron size recycled powder coating waste (MPCW), on the ultimate properties of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) compounds. The microcomposites and nanocomposites were characterized by X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, implying enlargement of d‐spacing of NC or intercalation of NBR chains and formation of exfoliated structure, while some agglomerates of MCC were detected. Curing characteristics of the studied composites showed that incorporation of the fillers into the NBR, in particular the NC, causes an increase in the torque, indicating a higher degree of crosslinking. Furthermore, different from micron size MPCW and MCC, the NC accelerated the vulcanization reaction. It was also found that the use of NC and MPCW results in a remarkable increase in the mechanical and rheological properties compared with pure NBR. All in all, variations in the aforementioned criteria were attributable to the extent of matrix/filler interaction reflected by scanning electron micrographs. The correlation established between the microstructure and characteristics of the prepared NBR composites can shed some light on how to develop composites with enhanced properties by incorporating waste materials into the polymers. This study reports an experimental investigation on hydrodynamics and mass transfer characteristics in a 15.6x10-3 m3 external loop airlift reactor for oil-in-water micro-emulsions with oil to water volume ratio (φ) rang- ing from 3% to 7% (by volume). For comparative purposes, experiments were also carried out with water. Increase in φ of micro-emulsion systems results in an increment in the gas holdup and a decrease in the volumetric gas-liquid oxygen transfer coefficient and liquid circulation velocity, attributed to the escalation in the viscosity of mi- cro-emulsions. The gas holdup and volumetric mass transfer coefficient for micro-emulsion systems are signifi- cantly higher than that of water system. An analytical answer to the buckling problem of a composite plate consisted of multi-scale hybrid nanocomposites is presented here for the first time. In other words, the constituent material of the structure is made of an epoxy matrix which is reinforced by both macro- and nanosize reinforcements, namely, carbon fiber (CF) and carbon nanotube (CNT). The effective material properties such as Young’s modulus or density are derived utilizing a micromechanical scheme incorporated with the Halpin–Tsai model. To present a more realistic problem, the plate is placed on a two-parameter elastic substrate. Then, on the basis of an energy-based Hamiltonian approach, the equations of motion are derived using the classical theory of plates. Finally, the governing equations are solved analytically to obtain the critical buckling load of the system. Afterward, the normalized form of the results is presented to emphasize the impact of each parameter on the dimensionless buckling load of composite plates. It is worth mentioning that the effects of various boundary conditions are covered, too. To show the efficiency of presented modeling, the results of this article are compared to those of former attempts.
