The intensity uniformity of the spots generated by fan-out diffractive optical elements (DOEs) (or kinoforms) is often highly sensitive to any fabrication error that leads to a deviation of the surface-relief depth of the DOE from its design value. Many of the fabrication errors, such as those that are due to insufficient control of development or etch rates, increase almost linearly with the desired relief depth in every position of the DOE. We present an algorithm for designing fan-out DOEs with a significantly reduced sensitivity of the intensity uniformity to such errors. The reduced sensitivity can be obtained without reducing the efficiency of the DOE. Experimental results for fabricated DOEs show that reduced sensitivity is also obtained in practice.  相似文献

Advancements in computer technology have allowed the development of human-appearing and -behaving virtual agents. This study examined if increased richness and anthropomorphism in interface design lead to computers being more influential during a decision-making task with a human partner. In addition, user experiences of the communication format, communication process, and the task partner were evaluated for their association with various features of virtual agents. Study participants completed the Desert Survival Problem (DSP) and were then randomly assigned to one of five different computer partners or to a human partner (who was a study confederate). Participants discussed each of the items in the DSP with their partners and were then asked to complete the DSP again. Results showed that computers were more influential than human partners but that the latter were rated more positively on social dimensions of communication than the former. Exploratory analysis of user assessments revealed that some features of human–computer interaction (e.g. utility and feeling understood) were associated with increases in anthropomorphic features of the interface. Discussion focuses on the relation between user perceptions, design features, and task outcomes.  相似文献

The Homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) principle holds promise to increase efficiency and to reduce emissions from internal combustion engines. As HCCI combustion lacks direct ignition timing control and auto-ignition depends on the operating condition, control of auto-ignition is necessary. Since auto-ignition of a homogeneous mixture is very sensitive to operating conditions, a fast combustion phasing control is necessary for reliable operation. To this purpose, HCCI modelling and model-based control with experimental validation were studied. A six-cylinder heavy-duty HCCI engine was controlled on a cycle-to-cycle basis in real time using a variety of sensors, actuators and control structures for control of the HCCI combustion. Combustion phasing control based on ion current was compared to feedback control based on cylinder pressure. With several actuators for controlling HCCI engines suggested, two actuators were compared, dual fuel and variable valve actuation (VVA). Model-based control synthesis requiring dynamic models of low complexity and HCCI combustion models were estimated by system identification and by physical modelling, the physical models aiming at describing the major thermodynamic and chemical interactions in the course of an engine stroke and their influence on combustion phasing. The models identified by system identification were used to design model-predictive control (MPC) with several desirable features and today applicable to relatively fast systems, the MPC control results being compared to PID control results. Both control of the combustion phasing and control of load-torque with simultaneous minimization of the fuel consumption and emissions, while satisfying the constraints on cylinder pressure, were included.  相似文献

The atomic and electronic structures of kappa-Al2O3 are determined using theoretical first-principles techniques based on density-functional theory (DFT), plane waves, and pseudopotentials. The obtained structure is confirmed by analysis of powder X-ray diffraction data. The structure is orthorhombic with oxygen ions in close-packed ABAC stacking and aluminum ions occupying both tetrahedral (1/4) and octahedral (3/4) interstitial sites. A growth model for chemical vapor deposition of kappa-Al2O3 is proposed based on the atomic structure. Calculated electronic structure and charge density yield a band gap of 5.3 eV and a high ionic character of the bonds. The study shows the applicability of DFT-based methods to complex and metastable materials.  相似文献

Carrots were analysed for taste and odour and for contents of terpenes, 6‐methoxymellein and sugars during 3 weeks storage at 15 °C in an atmosphere containing ethylene (1 µl l−1). The ethylene treatment caused an increase in 6‐methoxymellein and the conversion of higher amounts of sucrose to fructose and glucose compared to control carrots stored in air. This corresponded to higher sensory scores for bitterness and terpene flavour and a lower score for sweetness, as measured by an expert taste panel. Principal component analysis showed a more expressed bitter taste, earthy flavour, green flavour, terpene flavour and aftertaste in the ethylene‐treated carrots. Correlations were found between sweet taste and the content of sucrose (r = 0.91, p < 0.005) and between the contents of various terpenes (particularly γ‐terpinene, limonene and caryophyllene) and terpene flavour, green flavour, aftertaste and bitter taste (r ≥ 0.72, p < 0.05). In the air‐stored carrots these off‐flavours seemed to be masked by a high sucrose content. © 2000 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The influence of extensive vegetated roofs on runoff water quality   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
The influence of extensive sedum-moss vegetated roofs on runoff water quality was studied for four full scale installations located in southern Sweden. The aim of the study was to ascertain whether the vegetated roof behaves as a sink or a source of pollutants and whether the age of a vegetated roof influences runoff quality. The runoff quality from vegetated roofs was also compared with the runoff quality from non-vegetated roofs located in study areas. The following metals and nutrients were investigated: Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mn, Pb, Zn, NO3-N, NH4-N, Tot-N, PO4-P, and Tot-P. The results show that, with the exception of nitrogen, vegetated roofs behave as source of contaminants. While in lower concentrations than normally found in urban runoff, some metals appear in concentrations that would correspond to moderately polluted natural water. Nitrate nitrogen is retained by the vegetation or soil or both. Apart from the oldest, the studied vegetated roofs contribute phosphate phosphorus to the runoff. The maintenance of the vegetation systems on the roofs has to be carefully designed in order to avoid storm-water contamination; for instance, the use of easily dissolvable fertilizers should be avoided.  相似文献

We report three previously healthy individuals, aged 19-40 yr, with co-existing infected lower limb cutaneous wounds, who developed, in all probability, spinal space infections complicating continuous extradural analgesia. As the number of patients with extradural catheters and large cutaneous wounds represents a small fraction of the total number of patients with extradural catheters, three cases of presumed spinal space infection over a 4-yr period suggests that extradural analgesia with a catheter technique in this clinical situation is unsafe.  相似文献

To achieve effective environmental control, it is important to develop methodologies for dealing with uncertainties in model simulation of pollution behaviour and effects. Several procedures have been proposed to quantify uncertainties in modelling studies. This paper utilizes the two methods that are widely applied, i.e. functional analysis and Monte Carlo Simulation.The first-order part of the functional analysis method provides a measure of uncertainties in dependent variables in terms of uncertainties in independent variables. The procedure is based on first-order terms in the Taylor series expansion of the dependent variable about its mean value with respect to one or more independent variables. The major assumption in this procedure is that all independent and dependent variables are the second moment variables (SMV), which means that the behaviour of any SMV is completely described by its mean and standard deviation. The mathematical simplicity of the procedure allows application by simple input-output models. Consequently, it has been applied to many environmental simulators, e.g. hydrological models, stream water quality models, lake water quality models and ground water pollution models.The Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method uses a large number of repeated trials or simulations with the values for stochastic inputs or uncertain variables selected at random from their assumed parent probability distributions to establish an expected range of model uncertainty.  相似文献
