In this article, a distributed simulation tool for the feasibility evaluation of multi-site scheduling is proposed. The application areas concern supply chains (SCs) or networks of distributed workshops. The distributed simulation of workshops, called virtual workshops, generates various problems of causality and of tasks execution coordination. These problems are addressed in the proposed distributed architecture by the use of High Level Architecture protocol guaranteeing the synchronisation and the chronology of events occurring in the distributed simulations. An application to a simple case of the SC organising the flow between three workshops shows the effectiveness of the distributed simulation tool.  相似文献

A functional model of batch processes is formulated. The model was derived from considerations of multi-stage decision processes when some degree of optimization is required. Consistent with system theory and dynamic programming techniques, the model was derived by considering the overall system output and working backwards in time, or order of command priority. To facilitate this mode of thinking the process was divided into two basic functions, enabling the final stage to be treated in a linear, autonomous way. Application of the definition of optimality indicated that the final stage of the model is of paramount importance and produces a logical starting point for mathematical and managerial decision making policies.  相似文献

Swimmers in nature use body undulations to generate propulsive and manoeuvring forces. The anguilliform kinematics is driven by muscular actions all along the body, involving a complex temporal and spatial coordination of all the local actuations. Such swimming kinematics can be reproduced artificially, in a simpler way, by using the elasticity of the body passively. Here, we present experiments on self-propelled elastic swimmers at a free surface in the inertial regime. By addressing the fluid–structure interaction problem of anguilliform swimming, we show that our artificial swimmers are well described by coupling a beam theory with the potential flow model of Lighthill. In particular, we show that the propagative nature of the elastic wave producing the propulsive force is strongly dependent on the dissipation of energy along the body of the swimmer.  相似文献

This paper presents a study on the buckling behaviour of purlin-sheeting systems under wind uplift loading. The restraint provided by the sheeting to the purlin is modeled by using two springs representing the translational and rotational restraints. The analysis is performed using finite strip methods in which the pre-buckling stress is calculated based on the same model used for the buckling analysis rather than taken as the ‘pure bending’ stress. The results obtained from this study show that, for both local and distortional buckling, the restraints have significant influence on the critical loads through their influence on the pre-buckling stress rather than directly on the buckling modes. While for lateral-torsional buckling, the influence of the restraints on the critical loads is mainly due to their influence on the buckling modes rather than the pre-buckling stress.  相似文献

International standards that define thermal comfort in uniform environments are based on the steady-state heat balance equation that posits ‘neutrality’ as the optimal occupant comfort state for which environments are designed. But thermal perception is more than an outcome of a deterministic, steady-state heat balance. Thermal alliesthesia is a conceptual framework to understand the hedonics of a much larger spectrum of thermal environments than the more thoroughly researched concept of thermal neutrality. At its simplest, thermal alliesthesia states that the hedonic qualities of the thermal environment are determined as much by the general thermal state of the subject as by the environment itself. A peripheral thermal stimulus that offsets or counters a thermoregulatory load-error will be pleasantly perceived and vice versa, a stimulus that exacerbates thermoregulatory load-error will feel unpleasant. The present paper elaborates the thermophysiological hypothesis of alliesthesia with a particular focus on set-point control and the origins of thermoregulatory load-error signals, and then discusses them within the broader context of thermal pleasure. Alliesthesia provides an overarching framework within which diverse and previously disconnected findings of laboratory experiments, field studies and even comfort standards spanning the last 40 years of thermal comfort research can be more coherently understood.  相似文献

Abstract

A delicate touch is required to empower neighborhoods using civic media. Funding is persistently scarce. Especially in marginalized neighborhoods, blunt designs can be counterproductive and even entrench complex problems. New metaphors may be needed to guide design and empower local neighborhoods. Urban acupuncture is used as the basis for this study, emphasizing a light-touch strategy that has shown success in Brazil with urban transit, and more recently in Europe with urban design. We specifically propose “neighborhood acupuncture” to address the local level, tapping the sociology of place-based communication. To investigate the implications for systematic design, a case study is probed in South Los Angeles using mobile media for community mapping. Using qualitative methods, three tactics were investigated for the potential to “poke” the network into action, including one to bridge diverse storytelling networks. Each tactic ultimately seeks to build the capacity for collective action around neighborhood issues. Acupuncture is broadly argued to sustain two design shifts: first to help approach neighborhoods as ecosystems, and second, to design for circulation rather than any single technology platform.  相似文献

The results of experiments using radial and unidirectional flow in a carefully described single rough aperture are reported and compared with numerical predictions. Aperture replicas of a natural sandstone fracture were made at 0, 1 and 2 mm shear displacements using silicone rubber, with a reproducibility of better than 2%. The experimental arrangement permitted shear displacement to be obtained without causing damage to the two displaced surfaces, which thus retained their original (and essentially matching) geometry. Both the number of contact points and the fractional contact area decreased with increasing shear displacement. With increasing shear displacement, mean aperture and standard deviation increased and the ratio of standard deviation to mean aperture increased slightly. Semivariogram studies indicated that as shear displacement increased in the direction normal to the roughness ridges, the aperture distribution became more closely correlated in the direction parallel to the roughness ridges than in the shear direction. Flow tests showed that with increasing shear displacement, the fracture became heterogeneous and anisotropic and became more permeable in the direction perpendicular to the shear displacement than in the direction parallel to the displacement. Simulations were made of flow through the fracture using the Reynolds equation and the actual aperture distribution; the measured hydraulic apertures were generally about 20% lower than those measured numerically.  相似文献

High suspended solids concentrations in settler effluents can be caused by rising sludge, which is the effect of flotation of solids by nitrogen gas resulting from biological denitrification. Many factors influence the nitrogen gas bubble evolution. The most important factor is the rate of biological denitrification. Factors like nitrogen gas solubility and oxygen concentration in settler influent only play a minor role. The hydraulic retention time in the bottom part of the settler is, for all practical purposes, so high that sufficient nitrogen gas will be generated at temperatures above 20°C, if the nitrate content in the influent to the settler is above the critical one. For temperatures around 20°C the critical nitrate-nitrogen concentration is 6–8 g NO3-N/m3. The best measure in order to avoid rising sludge is to denitrify the wastewater in the treatment process ahead of the settler.  相似文献
