The growing complexity of distributed systems in terms of hardware components, operating system, communication and application software and the huge amount of dependencies among them have caused an increase in demand for distributed management systems. An efficient distributed management system needs to work effectively even in face of incomplete management information, uncertain situations, and dynamic changes. In this paper, Bayesian networks are proposed to model dependencies between managed objects in distributed systems. The strongest dependency route (SDR) algorithm is developed for backward inference in Bayesian networks. The SDR algorithm can track the strongest causes and trace the strongest routes between particular effects and its causes, the strongest dependency of causes can be also achieved by the algorithm. Thus, the backward inference provides an efficient mechanism in fault locating, and is beneficial for performance management.  相似文献

This paper describes a technique for the automatic adaptation of a canonical facial model to data obtained by a 3D laser scanner. The facial model is a B-spline surface with 13×16 control points. We introduce a technique by which this canonical model is fit to the scanned data and that takes into consideration the requirements for the animation of facial expressions. The animation of facial expressions is based on the facial action coding system (FACS). Using B-splines in combination with FACS, we automatically create the impression of a moving skin. To increase the realism of the animation we map textural information onto the B-spline surface.  相似文献

In order to generate relevant recommendations, a context-aware recommender system (CARS) not only makes use of user preferences, but also exploits information about the specific contextual situation in which the recommended item will be consumed. For instance, when recommending a holiday destination, a CARS could take into account whether the trip will happen in summer or winter. It is unclear, however, which contextual factors are important and to which degree they influence user ratings. A large amount of data and complex context-aware predictive models must be exploited to understand these relationships. In this paper, we take a new approach for assessing and modeling the relationship between contextual factors and item ratings. Rather than using the traditional approach to data collection, where recommendations are rated with respect to real situations as participants go about their lives as normal, we simulate contextual situations to more easily capture data regarding how the context influences user ratings. To this end, we have designed a methodology whereby users are asked to judge whether a contextual factor (e.g., season) influences the rating given a certain contextual condition (e.g., season is summer). Based on the analyses of these data, we built a context-aware mobile recommender system that utilizes the contextual factors shown to be important. In a subsequent user evaluation, this system was preferred to a similar variant that did not exploit contextual information.  相似文献

The three-dimensional shapes of tectonic plates that sink into the Earth’s mantle (slabs) are the starting point for a range of geoscience studies, from determining the forces driving the motion of tectonic plates, to potential seismic and tsunami hazards, to the sources of magmas beneath active volcanos. For many of these applications finite element methods are used to model the deformation or fluid flow, and therefore the input model parameters, such as feature geometries, temperature or viscosity, must be defined with respect to a smooth, continuous distance field around the slab. In this paper we present a framework for processing sparse and noisy seismic data (earthquake locations), defining the shape of the slab and computing a continuous distance function on a mesh with variable node spacing. Due to the inhomogeneous volumetric distribution of earthquakes within the slab and significant inaccuracies in the locations of earthquakes occurring hundreds of kilometers below the Earth’s surface, the seismicity data set is extremely noisy and incomplete. Therefore, the preprocessing is the major part of the framework consisting of several steps including a point based smoothing procedure, a powerful method to use other observational constraints on slab location (e.g., seismic tomography or geologic history) to extend of the slab shape beyond earthquake data set and continuous resampling using moving least squares method. For the preprocessed point data we introduce approaches for finding the three-dimensional boundary of the slab and a subdivision of the slab into quadric implicit polynomials. The resulting distance field is then compiled from distances to the piecewise continuous approximation of the slab and distances to slab boundary.  相似文献

In jüngster Zeit werden Forderungen nach Verkehrsregelungen im Internet lauter. Begründet wird diese Initiative mit einer drohenden Netzüberlastung, die durch die wachsende Popularit?t von Videoangeboten wie YouTube oder Streaming-Angeboten wie Hulu entsteht. Kritiker befürchten, dass durch den Einsatz neuer Netzwerkmanagementtechniken die Innovationsoffenheit und die freie Kommunikation im Internet gef?hrdet werden. Currently process modeling is mostly done manually. Therefore, the initial design of process models as well as changes to process models which are frequently necessary to react to new market developments or new regulations are time-consuming tasks. In this paper we introduce SEMPA, an approach for the partly automatic planning of process models. Using ontologies to semantically describe actions – as envisioned in Semantic Business Process Management –, a process model for a specified problem setting can be created automatically. In comparison to existing planning algorithms our approach creates process models including control structures and is able to cope with complex and numerical input and output parameters of actions. The prototypical implementation as well as an example taken from the financial services domain illustrate the practical benefit of our approach.  相似文献
