The presence of volatile halogenated hydrocarbons (VHH) in the atmosphere of the urban areas of Piedmont and its possible correlation with traffic has been studied. Automotive exhausts of leaded and unleaded gasoline were tested, according to the "European Cycle" of the EEC guidlines N.C. 181/89, 7/9/1982, for the presence of seven VHH. The results show that VHH are produced in concentrations roughly proportional to the number of kilometres covered by each car. Cars filled with unleaded gasoline were substantially free of VHH. Thus, some of the VHH found in the atmosphere may arise from automotive (leaded petrol) exhausts.  相似文献

Various methods to prepare and characterize TiO(2) photocatalyst loaded onto activated carbon (AC) support have been developed over the last decade. This photocatalyst has been used in a variety of investigations, i.e. from water decontamination to direct pollutant degradation in aqueous and gas phase systems using UV irradiation and lately with the assistance of ultrasonic sound waves. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method is one of the most promising and well-researched methods for deposition of catalysts onto supports. Given its advantage, from an engineering and fundamental aspect, CVD method also has commercial applications. A detailed search of published reports of these investigations was carried out and analyzed in this paper with focus on CVD techniques, activated carbon support and sonication.  相似文献

Seasonal changes and physiological factors related to sex, size and spawning period may alter polyphenol oxidase (PPO) activity in crustacean decapods. Given the undesirable effects that the enzyme has on the marketability of shrimps, the cuticles of the valuable deep-water rose shrimp were examined. Monthly measurements of PPO activity in cuticles of juvenile and adult males and females were recorded for one year, along with sea-surface temperature (SST) and photoperiod. PPO activity was highest during late summer (August and September) and was lowest between February and March. The rate of enzyme activity in males was double that of females, when corrected for time period. Juvenile shrimp had the highest enzyme activity. Under the conditions tested, our results support that PPO assessment should take into account the sex and size as factors that potentially biasing in tissue enzyme distributions.  相似文献

A method has been developed for setting a single-point cutting tool on the axis of rotation of a B-axis rotary table on a precision lathe. The method requires that three grooves be machined in the face of a workpiece with the B-axis set at three different angles. The depths of each of the grooves are then measured, and the measured values are used to calculate the tool offset vector. Experiments on a four-axis diamond turning machine have verified the precision of this method. This method has a significant advantage over commercially available touch probe tool set stations, because touch probes are well known to damage the cutting edges of fragile tools, such as single-point diamond tools with a small nose radius and a large primary clearance angle. The method developed in this study does not subject the cutting edge of the tool to any stress beyond that of its intended purpose of machining workpiece material. Therefore, this method can be used to set extremely fragile single-point cutting tools without the risk of damaging the tools.  相似文献

Relative adsorption experiments of azeotropic and non-azeotropic mixture were separately conducted at constant temperature with and without the presence of ultrasound. The ultrasound wave was applied at a frequency of 21 kHz with 25% amplitude at atmospheric pressure. The adsorption of azeotropic and non-azeotropic mixture was analysed using monolayer adsorption theory and at lower liquid equilibrium concentration it followed a Langmuir type of equation. The adsorptive capacity of azeotropic and non-azeotropic mixtures on activated carbon was found to decrease but the selectivity was increased. The result also showed that the azeotropic point of relative adsorption was noticeably moved due to the ultrasound effect.  相似文献

In 3 studies, the authors investigated whether within-persons increases in rumination about an interpersonal transgression were associated with within-persons reductions in forgiveness. Results supported this hypothesis. The association of transient increases in rumination with transient reductions in forgiveness appeared to be mediated by anger, but not fear, toward the transgressor. The association of rumination and forgiveness was not confounded by daily fluctuations in positive affect and negative affect, and it was not moderated by trait levels of positive affectivity, negative affectivity, or perceived hurtfulness of the transgression. Cross-lagged associations of rumination and forgiveness in Study 3 more consistently supported the proposition that increased rumination precedes reductions in forgiveness than the proposition that increased forgiveness precedes reductions in rumination. Converging technologies in the areas of telecommunications, volume visualization, and computer hardware and peripherals have made possible in recent years the development of new tools for collaboration that extend the reach of health care professionals and other consumers of volumetric data around the world. We describe a recent development at the Center for Research in Computer Graphics in Providence, RI, that makes a significant contribution to this area. TeleInViVo is an application that supports collaborative volumetric data visualization and exploration. It is an extension and partial reworking of InViVo, a volume visualization application developed at the Fraunhofer IGD, in Darmstadt, Germany. InViVo, which is largely focused around the medical community and with an emphasis on diagnostic ultrasound, has been augmented with new modes of interaction, an intuitive collaboration mechanism, and an architectural modification to support future developments in this area.  相似文献
