This paper discusses the aspects that influence the interaction between a probe tip and a work piece during tactile probing in a coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Measurement instruments are sensitive to more than one physical quantity. When measuring the topography of a work piece, the measurement result will therefore always be influenced by the environment and (local) variations in the work piece itself. A mechanical probe will respond to both topography and changes in the mechanical properties of the surface, e.g. the Young's modulus and hardness. An optical probe is influenced by the reflectivity and optical constants of the work piece, a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) responds to the electrical properties of the work piece and so on (Franks, 1991 [1]).The trend of component miniaturization results in a need for 3-dimensional characterization of micrometer sized features to nanometer accuracy. As the scale of the measurement decreases, the problems associated with the surfaceprobe interactions become increasingly apparent (Leach et al., 2001 [2]). The aspects of the interaction that are discussed include the deformation of probe tip and work piece during contact, surface forces during single point probing and scanning, dynamic excitation of the probe, synchronization errors, microfriction, tip rotations, finite stiffness effects, mechanical filtering, anisotropic stiffness, thermal effects and probe repeatability.These aspects are investigated using the Gannen XP 3D tactile probing system developed by Xpress Precision Engineering using modeling and experimental verification of the effects. The Gannen XP suspension consists of three slender rods with integrated piezo resistive strain gauges. The deformation of the slender rods is measured using the strain gauges and is a measure for the deflection of the probe tip. It is shown that the standard deviation in repeatability is 2 nm in any direction and over the whole measurement range of the probe. Finally, this probe has an isotropic stiffness of 480 N/m and a moving mass below 25 mg.  相似文献

Neisseria gonorrhoeae strain MS11 is able to express 11 different opacity (Opa) proteins on its outer surface. A number of these Opa proteins have been shown to function as adhesins through binding of CD66 receptors present on human cells. CD66 antigens, or carcinoembryonic antigen family members, constitute a family of glycoproteins belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Opa variants recognize this class of receptors in a differential manner such that certain Opa variants recognize up to four different CD66 receptors (CD66a, -c, -d, and -e), whereas others recognize only two (CD66a and -e) or none. We explored the basis for this receptor tropism in the present study. Our data show that glycoforms of CD66e and deglycosylated CD66e are recognized by gonococci in an Opa-specific manner. Binding by Opa variants of recombinant N-terminal domains of CD66 receptors expressed in Escherichia coli reflected the adherence specificities of Opa variants to HeLa cells expressing native CD66 molecules. These data indicate that recognition of CD66 receptors by Opa variants is mediated by the protein backbone of the CD66 N-domains. Furthermore, by using chimeric constructs between different CD66 N-domains we identified distinct binding regions on the CD66e N-domain for specific groups of Opa variants, suggesting that the differential recognition of CD66 receptors by Opa variants is dictated by the presence of specific binding regions on the N-domain of the receptor.  相似文献

Mechanical properties of standard decorticated and hand isolated flax bast fibres were determined in tension as well as in compression. The tensile strength of technical fibre bundles was found to depend strongly on the clamping length. The tensile strength of elementary flax fibres was found to range between 1500 MPa and 1800 MPa, depending on the isolation procedure. The compressive strength of elementary flax fibres as measured with a loop test lies around 1200 MPa. However, the compressive strength can be lowered severely by the decortication process. The standard decortication process induces kink bands in the fibres. These kink bands are found to contain cracks bridged by microfibrils. The failure behaviour of elementary flax fibres under compression can be described as similar to the failure behaviour of a stranded wire.  相似文献

Conditioned taste aversion is a common classic conditioning procedure used to identify noxious stimuli. When a rat is given a taste solution, the conditioned stimulus (CS), followed by an unpleasant experience, the unconditioned stimulus (US), the rat will avoid consumption of the CS in future presentations. These experiments use the taste aversion procedure to examine the effect of exposure to a high magnetic field. A solution consisting of 3.0 g glucose and 1.25 g saccharin per 1 L of solution (G+S) was used as the CS and a 9.4-T magnet served as the US. In Experiment 1, all rats received a 10 min presentation of the G+S solution followed by either a 30 min exposure to the magnetic field (Magnet, n = 8), a 30-min exposure in a container with similar conditions but lacking the magnetic field (Sham, n = 8), or no exposure (Control, n = 8). The Magnet Group showed a taste aversion on the first day of preference testing (p < 0.05). Experiment 2 employed the same US-CS protocol for 3 consecutive days of conditioning. The Magnet Group demonstrated a taste aversion for the postexposure Days 1-8 (p < 0.01). There was no difference between the Sham and Control Groups in either experiment. The results of this study clearly demonstrate that the rats associated the G+S solution with the experience of being exposed to the high magnetic field and avoided the solution in subsequent presentations.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: Herein we describe an additional case of myelolipoma of the adrenal gland, an uncommon tumor of the adrenal cortex, that had been incidentally discovered during abdominal US evaluation of the biliary tree. The clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of the condition are discussed. METHODS: Surgical treatment of the biliary tree and myelolipoma was performed through a Chevron transversal incision during the same surgical session. RESULTS: Surgery achieved good results and the postoperative course was unremarkable. CONCLUSIONS: Myelolipoma is a benign nonfunctioning tumor of the adrenal cortex comprised of adipose and hematopoietic tissue. It is usually asymptomatic and incidentally discovered during diagnostic evaluation for other pathologies. The diagnosis is made by US, CT and MRI. There is no agreement on whether surgical treatment is warranted.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term results of balloon dacryocystoplasty in the treatment of epiphora due to obstruction of the nasolacrimal ducts. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred eyes in 84 patients with complete or incomplete obstruction of the lacrimal sac and duct were selected for dacryocystoplasty. A catheter with a balloon diameter of 3 mm was used. Follow-up was 5-48 months. No stents were placed. A Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to evaluate patency. RESULTS: The long-term primary patency rate was 70% +/- 7 (+/- standard error). Repeat dacryocystoplasty was successful in 10 of the 11 cases with initial failure or reobstruction during follow-up, which yielded a long-term secondary patency rate of 81% +/- 7. There was no association between the length of the obstruction or the duration of symptoms before dacryocystoplasty and the initial and long-term success. Initial and long-term success was statistically significantly higher in dacryocystoplasty for an incomplete obstruction rather than for a complete obstruction. CONCLUSION: The long-term results of dacryocystoplasty, followed if necessary by repeat dacryocystoplasty, are good. Dacryocystoplasty is a safe and simple procedure and could become the treatment of choice for epiphora due to obstruction of the nasolacrimal ducts. Dacryocystorhinostomy is indicated when dacryocystoplasty or repeat dacryocystoplasty fails or when dacryocystoplasty is contraindicated (e.g., in anatomic malformations in the lacrimal duct or bony canal).  相似文献

The preferred method for quantification of aortic regurgitation severity with color Doppler echocardiography is the assessment of the ratio of jet diameter to left ventricular outflow tract diameter and jet area to left ventricular outflow tract area. However, the reproducibility of these measurements is not known and may limit its clinical application. This study was performed to identify sources of variability and reproducibility of the echocardiographic data. We examined 62 color Doppler echocardiographic examinations of patients showing isolated aortic regurgitation after human tissue valve implantation. The mean differences with standard deviations between paired measurements were calculated. The interobserver, intraobserver, and interframe variability showed a close agreement for the jet diameter and left ventricular outflow tract diameter measurements. The agreement for jet area and left ventricular outflow tract area measurements showed a small bias, but a large variance. The reproducibility of jet-left ventricular outflow tract diameter is better than the jet-left ventricular outflow tract area measurement and is more accurate to assess the severity of aortic regurgitation from color Doppler images.  相似文献

Five putative iodinated progesterone receptor (PR) binding ligands were synthesized and evaluated as potential imaging agents for PR-positive human breast tumours. Two compounds (E- and Z-17-hydroxy-21-iodo-19-nor-17alpha-pregna-4,20-dien-3-one; E- and Z-IPG1) were previously described, but are re-evaluated. The other three were novel compounds: two nortestosterone analogues derived from ORG 3236 (E- and Z-13-ethyl-17-hydroxy-21-iodo-11-methylene-18,19-dinor-17alpha-pre gna-4,20-diene-3-one; E- and Z-IPG2) and one norprogesterone analogue derived from ORG 2058 (21-[4-iodophenoxy]-16alpha-ethyl-19-norpregn-4-ene-3, 20-dione; IPG3). The E-iodovinyl nortestosterone compounds were obtained by a new route of synthesis. Competitive binding studies were performed to determine their binding affinities for the PR in three types of tissue (human MCF-7 breast tumour cells and rat uterine and mammary tumour tissue) and for the androgen receptor (AR) in human MCF-7 breast tumour cells, as well as for the sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) and corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG) in human plasma. All four 17alpha-iodovinyl nortestosterone derivatives displayed high binding affinity for the human PR, that of Z-IPG1 and E- and Z-IPG2 being even higher than that of ORG2058. Their affinities for the rat PR were somewhat lower, especially those of both E-isomers. The affinity of IPG3 was lower for both the human and rat PR. The nortestosterone derivatives also showed AR binding, the relative binding affinities ranging from 4.3 to 17.0% as compared with 5alphaDHT. Additionally, neither of these steroids displayed any significant binding to either SHBG or CBG in human plasma. We conclude that the in vitro binding properties of all four 17alpha-iodovinyl nortestosterone derivatives warrant evaluation of the distribution characteristics of their 123I-labelled analogues to determine their usefulness as PR imaging agents.  相似文献

In his paper ``Lagrange interpolation on Chebyshev points of two variables' (J. Approx. Theor. 87, 220–238, 1996), Y. Xu proposed a set of Chebyshev like points for polynomial interpolation in the square [−1,1]2, and derived a compact form of the corresponding Lagrange interpolation formula. We investigate computational aspects of the Xu polynomial interpolation formula like numerical stability and efficiency, the behavior of the Lebesgue constant, and its application to the reconstruction of various test functions.  相似文献
