Vulcanization of latex products are usually carried out at lower temperatures compared to dry rubber products. It has been suggested that, in latex vulcanization systems where thiourea is used as a secondary accelerator, it acts as a nucleophilic reagent facilitating the cleavage of the sulfur bonds in the primary accelerator like TMTD or CBS at lower temperature. But no conclusive proof is given to such a postulate. In the present study 1-phenyl-2,4-thiobiuret (DTB II) and 1,5-diphenyl-2,4-dithiobiuret (DTB III), which are more nucleophilic than thiourea and which vary in their nucleophilic reactivity, were studied as secondary accelerators along with tetramethyl thiuram disulphide (TMTD) and N-cyclohexylbenzothiazyl sulphenamide (CBS) in the vulcanization of natural rubber latex. These binary systems were found to be very effective in reducing the optimum vulcanization time. Also it was noted that 1-phenyl-2,4-dithiobiuret, which is more nucleophilic, is more reactive (as observed from the reduction in optimum cure time) as a secondary accelerator, indicating a nucleophilic reaction mechanism in the vulcanization reactions under review. The optimum dosages of the secondary accelerators required were derived. Physical properties like tensile strength, 300% modulus, and elongation at break of the latex vulcanizates were also studied. There is a definite advantage with respect to many of these properties for dithiobiuret systems compared to the systems containing TMTD alone or TMTD/thiourea. DTB III gives higher values in many of these physical properties than DTB II. Chemical characterization of the vulcanizates was also carried out to correlate the physical properties with the type of chemical crosslinks formed. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Both fibroblast-mediated cytokine gene therapy and bone marrow transplantation (BMT) have proven to be efficient protocols for the recovery of bone marrow depression. In this report, the effects of fibroblast-mediated interleukin (IL)-6 gene therapy, in combination with BMT, on the recovery of irradiation-induced bone marrow depression were investigated. METHODS: NIH3T3 fibroblast cells engineered to secrete IL-6 (NIH3T3-IL-6) or NIH3T3 cells transduced with the neomycin gene (NIH3T3-Neo), in combination with 10(7), 10(6), or 10(5) syngeneic bone marrow cells, were implanted into irradiated mice. RESULTS: The platelets and white blood cells in the peripheral blood of the irradiated mice increased greatly 12 days after implantation of NIH3T3-IL-6 cells and BMT, the white blood cell counts were restored to a normal level 32 days after the combined therapy, and the platelet number was obviously higher than that in mice implanted with NIH3T3-Neo and BMT. Twenty and 25 days after the combined therapy, the mice showed accelerated recovery of colony-forming unit (CFU)-granulocyte/macrophages and CFU-megakaryocytes when compared with the mice implanted with NIH3T3-Neo cells and BMT. Ten days after lethal irradiation with gamma rays, the spleens formed more CFU-spleen in mice implanted with NIH3T3-IL-6 cells and BMT than in mice injected with phosphate-buffered saline or NIH3T3-Neo cells. Combined therapy with NIH3T3-IL-6 cell implantation and BMT delayed the survival period of the hematopoietic-depressed mice significantly when compared with therapy with NIH3T3-Neo cell implantation and BMT. CONCLUSIONS: These data demonstrated that the combined therapy of fibroblast-mediated IL-6 gene therapy and BMT could significantly promote the recovery of irradiation-induced hematopoietic depression. 相似文献

Once designed, implementation of an optimal mean-square binary morphological filter is extremely fast, especially when the erosions are implemented on a suitable parallel processor. On the other hand, optimal filter design involes a computationally burdensome search procedure that can, in practice, be intractable. The present paper provides an algorithm for filter design that is based on the relationship between the optimal morphological filter and the conditional expectation. The algorithm proceeds by changing the conditional expectation into a morphological filter while at the same time increasing the mean-square error by a minimal amount. It does so by switching observations between the 1-set and the 0-set of the conditional expectation. The switching algorithm is extremely efficient in many noise environments, and therefore provides a filter design that can be useful for online structuring-element updating. Owing to the relationship between stack and morphological filters, the algorithm is at once useful for finding optimal binary stack filters. 相似文献

Polyacrylamides with 2–20 mol % divinyl benzene (DVB), N,N′‐methylene‐bisacrylamide (NNMBA), 1,6‐hexanediol diacrylate (HDODA), and tetraethyleneglycol diacrylate (TTEGDA) crosslinking and without crosslinking were prepared by free radical solution polymerization. Amino functions were incorporated into these polymers by transamidation with excess ethylenediamine. The dye uptake of nonprotonated and protonated aminopolyacrylamides was followed by batch equilibration method towards Rose Bengal (RB), Methyl Orange (MO), Methyl Red (MR), and Methylene Blue (MB). RB uptake by the polyacrylamide‐supported systems is higher than other dyes. Generally the dye uptake by the protonated systems is higher than the nonprotonated systems. To optimize the conditions of dye uptake, the effect of the concentration of RB solutions, temperature, and pH were followed. Kinetic studies showed that the uptake of RB by both nonprotonated and protonated crosslinked aminopolyacrylamides is a phase boundary process followed by three‐dimensional diffusion. The extent of RB uptake by the various systems depends on the nature and degree of crosslinking, and the relative rigidity/flexibility ofthe polyacrylamide support. Thus, the dye uptake followed the order: linear > NNMBA‐ > DVB‐ > TTEGDA‐ > HDODA‐crosslinked system. A novel host–guest system was developed by the encapsulation of simple organic guest molecules in the hydrophilic molecular architecture of crosslinked polyacrylamide hydrogels. The crosslinking agents used for the preparation of the host systems were hexanediol dimethacrylate (HDDMA) and divinyl benzene (DVB). This enabled us to construct hydrogels with different hydrophobic–hydrophilic equilibria. The model guest system used for the studies was benzoic acid. The selections gave simple but excellent host–guest systems with fine polar–apolar balancing. Polyacrylamide hydrogels with encapsulated benzoic acid were prepared with varying crosslink densities (5, 10, 15, and 20 mol %) by the solution polymerization technique. The rate of release of the host from the host–guest assembly was studied in different swelling conditions. The rate of release depended on the interaction forces between the polymer and the solvents. Polar forces, dispersion forces, and hydrogen bonding all played a vital role. The swelling behavior of the host‐polymer system and the host–guest assembly was analyzed and compared by the Flory–Rehner method. The amount of benzoic acid encapsulated in the DVB‐crosslinked polymer was higher than in the HDDMA‐crosslinked polymer, and the rate of release was in the order 5 > 15 > 10 > 20% for the DVB‐crosslinked polymer. The rate of release for the HDDMA‐crosslinked host–guest assembly was in the order 10 > 5 > 15 > 20%. The goal of this work was to prepare exfoliated poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/layered‐silicate nanocomposites with maleic anhydride grafted poly(lactic acid) (PLA–MA) as a compatibilizer. Two different layered silicates were used in the study: bentonite and hectorite. The nanocomposites were prepared by the incorporation of each layered silicate (5 wt %) into PLA via solution casting. X‐ray diffraction of the prepared nanocomposites indicated exfoliation of the silicates. However, micrographs from transmission electron microscopy showed the presence of intercalated and partially exfoliated areas. Tensile testing showed improvements in both the tensile modulus and yield strength for all the prepared nanocomposites. The results from the dynamic mechanical thermal analysis showed an improvement in the storage modulus over the entire temperature range for both layered silicates together with a shift in the tan δ peak to higher temperatures. The effect of using PLA–MA differed between the two layered silicates because of a difference in the organic treatment. The bentonite layered silicate showed a more distinct improvement in exfoliation and an increase in the mechanical properties because of the addition of PLA–MA in comparison with the hectorite layered silicate. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Thermal stability data for neutral (emeraldine base) and doped polyaniline with various counter anions are reported. The emeraldine base is a highly heat-stable polymer, with thermal stability up to 420 °C. The thermal stability of doped polyaniline is dependent on the counter anion. The methane sulfonic acid doped polyaniline is stable up to 250 °C. The decomposition of the doped polyaniline is seen as a two-step process. Many reverse engineering techniques for data structures rely on the knowledge of memory allocation routines. Typically, they interpose on the system’s malloc and free functions, and track each chunk of memory thus allocated as a data structure. However, many performance-critical applications implement their own custom memory allocators. Examples include webservers, database management systems, and compilers like gcc and clang. As a result, current binary analysis techniques for tracking data structures fail on such binaries. We present MemBrush, a new tool to detect memory allocation and deallocation functions in stripped binaries with high accuracy. We evaluated the technique on a large number of real world applications that use custom memory allocators. We demonstrate that MemBrush can detect allocators/deallocators with a high accuracy which is 52 out of 59 for allocators, and 29 out of 31 for deallocators in SPECINT 2006. As we show, we can furnish existing reverse engineering tools with detailed information about the memory management API, and as a result perform an analysis of the actual application specific data structures designed by the programmer. Our system uses dynamic analysis and detects memory allocation and deallocation routines by searching for functions that comply with a set of generic characteristics of allocators and deallocators. 相似文献

Urbanisation results in changes to runoff behaviour which, if not addressed, inevitably degrade receiving waters. To date, most stormwater management has focussed on the streetscape and public open space. Given that much of the catchment imperviousness is located on private land, we developed and tested a novel economic instrument (a uniform price auction) for encouraging allotment-scale stormwater retention. We evaluated bids using an integrated environmental benefit index (EBI), based on the ability of the proposed works to reduce runoff frequency, pollutant loads and to reduce potable water demand. The uniform price auction resulted in 1.4 ha of impervious areas being effectively 'disconnected' from the stormwater system. The EBI provided an objective and transparent method of comparing bids, which varied in the type of works proposed (e.g. rainwater tank, rain-garden), the cost and the resulting environmental benefit. Whilst the pilot auction was a success, the public subsidy of works undertaken was around 85%, meaning that property owners a relatively small private benefit in the works. Future auction rounds will be revised to (i) test an EBI which is more focussed on the protection of streams (assessing changes to runoff frequency, baseflow volumes and water quality) and (ii) provide an auction process which is simpler to understand, and provides greater practical support for landholders who wish to undertake works. 相似文献
