Xetal-II is a single-instruction multiple-data (SIMD) processor with 320 processing elements. It delivers a peak performance of 107 GOPS on 16-bit data while dissipating 600 mW. A 10 Mbit on-chip memory is provided which can store up to four VGA frames, allowing efficient implementation of frame-iterative algorithms. A massively parallel interconnect provides an internal bandwidth of more than 1.3 Tbit/s to sustain the peak performance. The IC is realized in 90 nm CMOS and takes up 74 mm2.  相似文献

We have studied the temporal relationship between visual responses in various visual cortical areas [17, 18, postero medial lateral suprasylvian (PMLS), postero lateral lateral suprasylvian (PLLS), 21a]) and the superficial layers of the cat superior colliculus (SC). To this end, simultaneous recordings were performed in one or several visual cortical areas and the SC of anesthetized paralyzed cats, and visually evoked multiunit responses were subjected to correlation analysis. Significant correlations occurred in 117 (24%) of 489 cortex-SC pairs and were found for all cortical areas recorded. About half of the significant correlograms showed an oscillatory modulation. In these cases, oscillation frequencies covered a broad range, the majority being in the alpha- and beta-band. On average, significant center peaks in cross-correlograms had a modulation amplitude of 0.34. Our analysis revealed a considerable intertrial variability of correlation patterns with respect to both correlation strength and oscillation frequency. Furthermore, cortical areas differed in their corticotectal correlation patterns. The percentage of cells involved a corticotectal correlation, as well as the percentage of significantly modulated correlograms in such cases, was low for areas 17 and PMLS but high for areas 18 and PLLS. Analysis of the cortical layers involved in these interactions showed that consistent temporal relationships between cortical and collicular responses were not restricted to layer V. Our data demonstrate a close relationship between corticotectal interactions and intracortical or intracollicular synchronization. Trial-by-trial analysis from these sites revealed a clear covariance of corticotectal correlations with intracortical synchronization. The probability of observing corticotectal interactions increased with enhanced local cortical and collicular synchronization and, in particular, with interareal cortical correlations. Corticotectal correlation patterns resemble in many ways those described among areas of the visual cortex. However, the correlations observed are weaker than those between nearby cortical sites, exhibit usually broader peaks and for some cortical areas show consistent phase-shifts. Corticotectal correlations represent population phenomena that reflect both the local and global temporal organization of activity in the cortical and collicular network and do not arise from purely monosynaptic interactions. Our findings show that both striate and extrastriate inputs affect the superficial SC in a cooperative manner and, thus, do not support the view that responses in the superficial SC depend exclusively on input from the primary visual areas as implied by the concept of "two corticotectal systems." We conclude that the corticotectal projections convey temporal activation patterns with high reliability, thus allowing the SC evaluation of information encoded in the temporal relations between responses of spatially disseminated cortical neurons. As a consequence, information distributed across multiple cortical areas can affect the SC neurons in a coherent way.  相似文献

Recently, new regional innovation policy paradigms emerged that transcend a long-lived dispute on whether either regional specialization, diversification, or rather related variety is most conducive to regional innovativeness. This includes ‘smart specialization’ in which regions are deliberately specialized and connected following technological relatedness, ‘gatekeepers’ in which there are pipelines between dense regional networks, and a ‘regional mix’ of knowledge that allows sustained ‘branching’. We develop and use an agent-based model to study the conjecture that, to stimulate (supra)regional innovativeness, social planners need to consider both, in conjunction, the mix of technological knowledge in regions and the (inter)regional innovation network topology. We use this agent-based model to evaluate the performance of and study the internal mechanisms of these new policy paradigms in a variety of scenarios. To increase the external validity of our findings, we calibrate the knowledge graph searched by the agents in our model to the OECD patent database. We confirm that access to related variety is important, yet that, on top of that, access to incidentally related knowledge is crucial to prevent high-level lock-in and ensure long term technological progress. Moreover, we find that networks with regional gatekeepers are particularly innovative, because these gatekeepers form ‘knowledge hubs’, create short paths to potential partners, and enlarge the total pool of knowledge. In case agents have few relationships, we find exceptionally high performance for the gatekeeper network in combination with regional diversification. The smart specialization network is a solid second option, although it lacks access to incidentally related knowledge and thus will ultimately fall behind whenever agents have relatively few relationships. The study elaborates on specific scenarios to reveal intricacies in the relationship between knowledge distribution, network topology, and the structure of interrelationships between knowledge fields.  相似文献

We have measured the temperature and polarization dependence of Silin spin wave spectra in a saturated 3He–4He mixture with a concentration of 9.4% at a pressure of 8 bars. The mixture has been cooled and polarized by a Leiden dilution refrigerator to temperatures in the range 10–15 mK and polarizations as high as 9.2% corresponding to 3.4 times the equilibrium polarization of 2.7% in the external magnetic field of 11.36 T. The analysis takes into account the dipolar interactions and results in the relaxation time τ and spin diffusion constant D . We find that τ and D are proportional to where T is the temperature, is the polarization enhancement factor and T a0 is the anisotropy temperature for the mixture at equilibrium in the external field. Our result T a0=3.66±0.14 mK is 30% higher than the theoretical prediction for very dilute mixtures and is evidence for the existence of polarization induced relaxation of transverse spin currents.  相似文献

Surface waviness of steel sheet is one of the key characteristics determining the final appearance after painting. To support a proper definition of the filters to be applied when defining a waviness parameter, the calculation of the transfer function of the paint process itself represents a crucial aspect. In this study an appropriate methodology is proposed in order to identify the filter characteristics of this paint process. Firstly, the approach is applied to a series of known filters and a number of explicit case studies have been explored to better understand the various mechanisms. Subsequently, the method is used for different painted samples yielding a number of interesting features. It is anticipated that these results can suggest significant improvements for a uniform methodology for the waviness assessment of steel sheet based on 2D surface profiling.  相似文献

Optical traps are commonly constructed with high-numerical-aperture objectives. Oil-immersion objectives suffer from spherical aberrations when used for imaging in aqueous solutions. The effect of spherical aberrations on trapping strength has been modeled by approximation, and only a few experimental results are available in the case of micrometer-sized particles. We present an experimental study of the dependence of lateral and axial optical-trap stiffness on focusing depth for polystyrene and silica beads of 2 microm diameter by using oil- and water-immersion objectives. We demonstrate a strong depth dependence of trap stiffness with the oil-immersion objective, whereas no depth dependence was observed with the water-immersion objective.  相似文献

Cross sections of proton-induced nuclear reactions on highly enriched 192Os were measured up to 66 MeV by using the stacked-foil irradiation technique. Excitation functions are presented for the reactions 192Os(p,n)192Ir, 192Os(p,3n)190Ir, 192Os(p,4n)189Ir, 192Os(p,5n)188Ir, 192Os(p,6n)187Ir and 192Os(p,7n)186Ir. No earlier experimental cross-section data could be found in the literature except for the 192Os(p,n)192Ir process. Our new experimental results are compared with theoretical predictions by means of the theoretical model code ALICE/ASH. Integral thick-target yield calculations were also performed for the 192Os(p,n)192Ir and 192Os(p,3n)190Ir reactions to evaluate the 190Ir contamination level, as a function of energy, in the case of 192Ir productions.  相似文献

Inversion of stereoselectivity: screening of a minimal mutant library revealed a cytochrome P450?BM3 variant M01?A82W?S72I capable of producing 16?α-OH-testosterone. Remarkably, a single active site mutation S72I in M01?A82W inverted the stereoselectivity of hydroxylation from 16?β to 16?α. It is generally known that intracellular pH (pH(i)) plays a vital role in cell physiology and that pH(i) homeostasis is essential for normal cellular functions. Therefore, it is desirable to know the pH(i) during cell life cycle or under various growth conditions. Different methods to measure pH(i) have been developed and among these methods, the use of pH-sensitive green fluorescent protein (GFP) as a pH(i) indicator is a promising technique. By using this approach, not only can more accurate pH(i) results be obtained but also long-term experiments on pH(i) can be performed. In this study, the wild type Zygosaccharomyces bailii, a notorious food spoilage yeast, was transformed with a plasmid encoding a pH-sensitive GFP (i.e. pHluorin), enabling the pH(i) of the yeast to be determined based on cellular fluorescent signals. After the transformation, growth and pH(i) of the yeast were investigated in four different acidic conditions at 22°C during 26days. From the experimental results, the transformation effectiveness was verified and a good correlation between yeast growth and pH(i) was noticed. Particularly, it was observed that the yeast has an ability to tolerate a significant pH(i) drop during exponential phase and a subsequent pH(i) recovery in stationary phase, which may underlie the exceptional acid resistance of the yeast. This was the first time that a GFP-based approach for pH(i) measurement was applied in Z. bailii and that the pH(i) of the yeast was monitored during such a long period (26days). It can be expected that greater understanding of the physiological properties and mechanisms behind the special acid resistance of the yeast will be obtained from further studies on this new yeast strain.  相似文献
