Despite of the development of advanced segmentation techniques, achieving accurate and reproducible gross tumor volume (GTV) segmentation results is still an important challenge in neuro-radiosurgery. Nowadays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most prominent modality in radiation therapy for soft-tissue anatomical districts. Gamma Knife stereotactic neuro-radiosurgery is a minimally invasive technology for dealing with inaccessible or insufficiently treated tumors with traditional surgery or radiotherapy. During a treatment planning phase, the GTV is generally contoured by experienced neurosurgeons and radiation oncologists using fully manual segmentation procedures on MR images. Unfortunately, this operative methodology is definitely time-expensive and operator-dependent. Delineation result repeatability, in terms of both intra- and inter-operator reliability, can be achieved only by using computer-assisted approaches. In this paper a novel semi-automatic seeded image segmentation method, based on a cellular automata model, for MRI brain cancer detection and delineation is proposed. This approach, called GTVcut, employs an adaptive seed selection strategy and helps to segment the GTV, by identifying the target volume to be treated using the Gamma Knife device. The accuracy of GTVcut was evaluated on a dataset composed of 32 brain cancers, using both spatial overlap-based and distance-based metrics. A multi-channel continuous dynamic monitoring system has been installed in a centenary iron arch bridge on late November 2011. The historic infrastructure, completed in 1889 and crossing the Adda river about 50 km far from Milan, is the most important monument of XIX century iron architecture in Italy and is still used as roadway and railway bridge. The monitoring project follows a series of preliminary ambient vibration tests carried out on the bridge since June 2009. The paper describes the bridge structure and its dynamic characteristics identified from the experimental studies developed since 2009, the installed monitoring system and the software developed in LabVIEW for automatically processing the collected data. Subsequently, the tracking of automatically identified natural frequencies over a period of about 18 months is presented and discussed, highlighting the effects of environmental and operational conditions on the bridge dynamic characteristics as well as the detection of structural changes, mainly based on natural frequencies shifts. 相似文献

Twenty six phenolic compounds in wine grapes were identified and quantified in five winegrape varieties using the complementary information from high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to diode array and fluorescence detectors, and mass spectrometry in both positive and negative mode. Fourteen different anthocyanins were identified in these grapes. In all varieties, malvidin-3-glucoside and its derivatives, mainly p-coumaroyl derivatives, were the major compounds. Seven flavonols were detected, most as quercetin and myricetin derivatives, and few qualitative differences were found among varieties. Total hydroxycinnamic content was rather low in all varieties. Lastly, catechin and epicatechin were detected in both skin and seed; differences in respect of the content in the seeds can be attributed to differences in the number and weight of seed per berry in each variety. The results of the characterisation can be used to select winemaking techniques aimed at improving the quality of the final wine. 相似文献

The wavefront sensor in active and adaptive telescopes is usually not in the optical path toward the scientific detector. It may generate additional wavefront aberrations, which have to be separated from the errors due to the telescope optics. The aberrations that are not rotationally symmetric can be disentangled from the telescope aberrations by a series of measurements taken in the center of the field, with the wavefront sensor at different orientation angles with respect to the focal plane. Technical or advanced ceramics have achieved a great deal of importance nowadays as a consequence of their outstanding properties, which make them suitable for application to high-resistance dies and tools for drilling, metal forming and structural components, among others. Nevertheless, manufacturing of these materials is difficult and expensive because they are hard-to-machine materials. In this present study, the application of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is explored for the processing of two conductive ceramics: hot-pressed boron carbide (B4C) and cobalt-bonded tungsten carbide (WC-Co). The main aim of this present study is to analyse the influence of intensity (I), pulse duration (t i), duty cycle (η), open-circuit voltage (U) and dielectric flushing pressure (P) on the quality of these manufactured products. The response variables studied are: surface roughness (Ra), volumetric electrode wear (EW) and material removal rate (MRR). This study has great industrial interest as there seems to be a lack of knowledge of die-sinking EDM of conductive ceramics in comparison with metallic materials. 相似文献

In this work, we present a nanometer resolution structural characterization of epitaxial graphene (EG) layers grown on 4H-SiC
(0001) 8° off-axis, by annealing in inert gas ambient (Ar) in a wide temperature range (T
gr from 1600 to 2000°C). For all the considered growth temperatures, few layers of graphene (FLG) conformally covering the 100
to 200-nm wide terraces of the SiC surface have been observed by high-resolution cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy
(HR-XTEM). Tapping mode atomic force microscopy (t-AFM) showed the formation of wrinkles with approx. 1 to 2 nm height and
10 to 20 nm width in the FLG film, as a result of the release of the compressive strain, which builds up in FLG during the
sample cooling due to the thermal expansion coefficients mismatch between graphene and SiC. While for EG grown on on-axis
4H-SiC an isotropic mesh-like network of wrinkles interconnected into nodes is commonly reported, in the present case of a
vicinal SiC surface, wrinkles are preferentially oriented in the direction perpendicular to the step edges of the SiC terraces.
For each T
gr, the number of graphene layers was determined on very small sample areas by HR-XTEM and, with high statistics and on several
sample positions, by measuring the depth of selectively etched trenches in FLG by t-AFM. Both the density of wrinkles and
the number of graphene layers are found to increase almost linearly as a function of the growth temperature in the considered

Currently, myofascial pain has become one of the main problems in healthcare systems. Research into its causes and the structures related to it may help to improve its management. Until some years ago, all the studies were focused on muscle alterations, as trigger points, but recently, fasciae are starting to be considered a new, possible source of pain. This systematic review has been conducted for the purpose of analyze the current evidence of the muscular/deep fasciae innervation from a histological and/or immunohistochemical point of view. A literature search published between 2000 and 2021 was made in PubMed and Google Scholar. Search terms included a combination of fascia, innervation, immunohistochemical, and different immunohistochemical markers. Of the 23 total studies included in the review, five studies were performed in rats, four in mice, two in horses, ten in humans, and two in both humans and rats. There were a great variety of immunohistochemical markers used to detect the innervation of the fasciae; the most used were Protein Gene Marker 9.5 (used in twelve studies), Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (ten studies), S100 (ten studies), substance P (seven studies), and tyrosine hydroxylase (six studies). Various areas have been studied, with the thoracolumbar fascia being the most observed. Besides, the papers highlighted diversity in the density and type of innervation in the various fasciae, going from free nerve endings to Pacini and Ruffini corpuscles. Finally, it has been observed that the innervation is increased in the pathological fasciae. From this review, it is evident that fasciae are well innerved, their innervation have a particular distribution and precise localization and is composed especially by proprioceptors and nociceptors, the latter being more numerous in pathological situations.
