Interleaved boost converters (IBCs) are used when energy conversion is required at high current levels. Such converter systems may undergo various nonlinear phenomena which can affect their performance adversely. In this paper, we study an IBC and demonstrate the first instability through a Neimark–Sacker bifurcation, resulting in a torus. An analysis based on the calculation of the monodromy matrix reveals that the torus has a rather strange form as the complex Floquet multipliers that became unstable have a real value close to ?1. We show that further variation in a parameter can result in novel nonlinear phenomena where the torus itself folds and grazes a switching manifold, resulting in a ‘wobbling’ of the closed loop that represents the torus in discrete time. Cooked hams have gained an important position within the delicatessen market. Nowadays, consumers not only demand superior sensory properties but also request low levels of sodium and fat and the absence of conventional chemicals and preservatives used for the increase of the technological yield and shelf-life of the products. As a result, products that apply strict quality certificates or ‘‘clean’’ labels become increasingly important. However, such cooked hams suffer from a limited shelf-life. Besides some physicochemical effects, this is mainly due to microbial impact, despite the application of modified-atmosphere-packaging and chilling. Microbial spoilage is mostly due to the metabolic manifestation of lactic acid bacteria and Brochothrix thermosphacta, although Enterobacteriaceae and yeasts may occur too. Several preservation strategies have been developed to prolong the shelf-life of such vulnerable cooked meat products by targeting the microbial communities, with different rates of success. Whereas high-pressure treatments do not always pose a straightforward solution, a promising strategy relates to the use of bioprotective cultures containing lactic acid bacteria. The latter consist of strains that are deliberately added to the ham to outcompete undesirable microorganisms. Spoilage problems seem, however, to be specific for each product and processing line, underlining the importance of tailor-made solutions.  相似文献

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were prepared using TiO(2) nanotubes, grown by controlled Ti anodic oxidation in non-aqueous media. Smooth, vertically oriented TiO(2) nanotube arrays, presenting a high degree of self-organization and a length of 20 μm, have been grown using ethylene glycol electrolyte containing HF. As-grown nanotubes exhibit an amorphous structure, which transforms to the anatase TiO(2) crystalline phase upon post-annealing in air at 450?°C. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed the porous morphology together with high roughness and fractality of the surface. The annealed tubes were sensitized by the standard N719 ruthenium dye and the adsorption was characterized using resonance micro-Raman spectroscopy and adsorption-desorption measurements. The sensitized tubes were further used as active photoelectrodes after incorporation in sandwich-type DSSCs using both liquid and solidified electrolytes. The efficiencies obtained under air mass (AM) 1.5 conditions, using a back-side illumination geometry, were very promising: 0.85% using a composite polymer redox electrolyte, while the efficiency was further increased up to 1.65% using a liquid electrolyte.  相似文献

The structural behavior of prestressed high strength steel (HSS) tubular members is investigated through the execution of advanced finite element modeling. Numerical models are developed and validated against published experimental data on HSS tubular members subjected to different levels of initial prestress and loaded either in tension or compression. The effect of the presence or absence of grouting on the strength and ductility of the members is also considered. To numerically replicate the structural response recorded in the tests, some key modeling features including the employed numerical solver, the adopted material models and the element types warrant careful consideration. Upon developing of the finite element models, the numerically generated ultimate loads, the corresponding failure modes and the full load-deformation curves are compared to the experimental ones, indicating a successful validation. As anticipated, prestressing enhances the load-bearing capacity for the tensile members, whereas it is detrimental for the compressive ones. A series of parametric studies is performed to assess the influence of key factors on the structural response of prestressed HSS members and the obtained results are discussed. Design guidance for tensile and compressive prestressed tubular members is also provided.  相似文献

In this paper, an ontology-based system (KnowBaSICS-M) is presented for the semantic management of Medical Computational Problems (MCPs), i.e., medical problems and computerised algorithmic solutions. The system provides an open environment, which: (1) allows clinicians and researchers to retrieve potential algorithmic solutions pertinent to a medical problem and (2) enables incorporation of new MCPs into its underlying Knowledge Base (KB). KnowBaSICS-M is a modular system for MCP acquisition and discovery that relies on an innovative ontology-based model incorporating concepts from the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS). Information retrieval (IR) is based on an ontology-based Vector Space Model (VSM) that estimates the similarity among user-defined MCP search criteria and registered MCP solutions in the KB. The results of a preliminary evaluation and specific examples of use are presented to illustrate the benefits of the system. KnowBaSICS-M constitutes an approach towards the construction of an integrated and manageable MCP repository for the biomedical research community.  相似文献

The soft clam Callista chione is highly appreciated among marine inhabitants for nutritional, commercial and economic reasons. This work aims to determine the lipid classes’ profile of C. chione and the effect of different preservation treatments on them. C. chione meat was found to be a rich source of dietary phospholipids (PhLs), ω‐3 fatty acids and carotenoids, encouraging the exploitation of the species as human food. Among treatments, only marinating reduced the PhLs content. Parboiling and freezing resulted in a significant decrease in unsaturated fatty acids, while marinating caused partial replacement of polyunsaturated with monounsaturated fatty acids. Lipid quality indices remained favourable for a healthy diet. With the exception of astaxanthin, the rest of the carotenoids identified were susceptible to processing and frozen storage. Parboiling and freezing of the vacuum‐packed meats for up to 4 months would be most appropriate, among the treatments applied, for preserving the lipid quality of C. chione.  相似文献

Aflatoxin B1 has been considered as the most potent liver carcinogen for humans. One factor that stimulates the production of aflatoxins in oilseed products, such as sesame seeds and their products is the presence of high levels of fatty acids. This work presents further evidence that sesame is a favorable substrate for aflatoxin B1 production by Aspergillus parasiticus. Moreover, the use of wild artichoke (Cynara cardunculus L.) extract was examined showing inhibition of aflatoxin B1 production in both sesame and yeast extract sucrose medium, inoculated with A. parasiticus. More specifically, the inhibition of aflatoxin B1 production by A. parasiticus in sesame seeds paste was 99.6% and in yeast extract sucrose medium it was 99.4%.  相似文献

Intervention autonomous underwater vehicles (I-AUVs) have the potential to open new avenues for the maintenance and monitoring of offshore subsea facilities in a cost-effective way. However, this requires challenging intervention operations to be carried out persistently, thus minimizing human supervision and ensuring a reliable vehicle behaviour under unexpected perturbances and failures. This paper describes a system to perform autonomous intervention—in particular valve-turning—using the concept of persistent autonomy. To achieve this goal, we build a framework that integrates different disciplines, involving mechatronics, localization, control, machine learning and planning techniques, bearing in mind robustness in the implementation of all of them. We present experiments in a water tank, conducted with Girona 500 I-AUV in the context of a multiple intervention mission. Results show how the vehicle sets several valve panel configurations throughout the experiment while handling different errors, either spontaneous or induced. Finally, we report the insights gained from our experience and we discuss the main aspects that must be matured and refined in order to promote the future development of intervention autonomous vehicles that can operate, persistently, in subsea facilities.  相似文献
