A Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT) seed layer without Pb-deficient defective areas was developed to improve the dielectric breakdown strength and lifetime of thin film piezoelectric actuators. The proportion of defective area in the seed layers was reduced by adjusting the amount of Pb excess in the solution, combined with implementation of a dense, large-grained (>200 nm) Pt bottom electrode. The optimal Pb excess amount in the solution was about 20 at%; seeding was improved when a slightly Ti-rich composition (relative to the morphotropic phase boundary) was utilized. It was found that the dielectric breakdown strength and lifetime of PZT films improved as the proportion of visible defective area on the PZT seed layer decreased. Dielectric breakdown strength increased from approximately 300 kV/cm to about 1 MV/cm. The lifetime, characterized by highly accelerated lifetime testing, was increased 60 times by reducing the fraction of defective area. The activation energy (Ea) and voltage acceleration factor (N) for failure of devices (eg, patterned PZT films) were 1.12 ± 0.03 eV and 4.24 ± 0.07 respectively. 相似文献

Growth and metabolite production of three dominant bacterial isolates (Carnobacterium divergens 3M14, Leuconostoc carnosum 3M42, and Brochothrix thermosphacta RMS6) from modified-atmosphere-packaged (MAP), artisan-type cooked ham were assessed for their interactions in view of the development of a bioprotective culture. During monoculture experiments in cooked ham simulation medium, Leuc. carnosum 3M42 converted the available glucose into lactic acid and ethanol, whereas the two other strains produced additional metabolites such as acetic acid and 3-methyl-1-butanol. When grown in co-culture, Leuc. carnosum 3M42 suppressed the growth and metabolism of B. thermosphacta RMS6. In contrast, a co-culture of the latter bacterium with C. divergens 3M14 led to a variety of spoilage-related metabolic compounds. Subsequently, experiments with a commercial cooked ham product indicated that Leuc. carnosum 3M42 dominated the meat matrix and improved acceptability of the product over time, hence acting as a bioprotective culture for MAP, artisan-type cooked ham. 相似文献

Approximate execution is a viable technique for environments with energy constraints, provided that applications are given the mechanisms to produce outputs of the highest possible quality within the available energy budget. This paper introduces a framework for energy-constrained execution with controlled and graceful quality loss. A simple programming model allows developers to structure the computation in different tasks, and to express the relative importance of these tasks for the quality of the end result. For non-significant tasks, the developer can also supply less costly, approximate versions. The target energy consumption for a given execution is specified when the application is launched. A significance-aware runtime system employs an application-specific analytical energy model to decide how many cores to use for the execution, the operating frequency for these cores, as well as the degree of task approximation, so as to maximize the quality of the output while meeting the user-specified energy constraints. Evaluation on a dual-socket 16-core Intel platform using 9 kernels and applications shows that the proposed framework performs very close to an oracle always selecting the optimal configuration, both in terms of energy efficiency and quality of results. Also, a comparison with loop perforation (a well-known compile-time approximation technique), shows that the proposed framework results in significantly higher quality for the same energy budget. 相似文献

This paper introduces an approach for the determination of the best anatomy of a metamorphic manipulator for a given task at a given location. The location of the task is determined by maximizing the performance of a current industrial fixed anatomy robot. Two types of tasks are considered: a point to point task and a path following task, where in the first case the approximated minimum of the manipulability index is formed along the task points and in the second case the approximated minimum of the manipulator velocity ratio is formed along the line segments. These indexes are maximized in order to determine the best anatomy for the task. The proposed approach is tested and the results show that the determined best anatomy for each type of task acquired higher performance than the respective one achieved by the fixed anatomy manipulator. 相似文献

Scheduling of inspection and maintenance policies during the life-cycle of operating infrastructure necessitates optimization of long-term objectives in stochastic environments. Modern answers to the problem should focus on quantitative decision-making techniques, taking advantage of informative but uncertain data that become available in time. As such, the problem is efficiently addressed within the framework of stochastic dynamic programming by means of Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs) and Mixed Observability Markov Decision Processes (MOMDPs). Although these methodologies can provide very sophisticated solutions with optimality guarantees, important computational challenges often emerge, mainly due to the continuity of the multidimensional belief space on the probability simplex. In response, recent value iteration algorithms based on point-based approaches have been suggested, focusing on reachable belief points that can support an accurate value function. In this work, several POMDP and MOMDP point-based algorithms, with various characteristics regarding the exploration of the belief space and the value function update procedures, are rigorously analyzed. The algorithms are compared and evaluated in terms of accuracy and performance in stationary and nonstationary problems of structural inspection and maintenance for life-cycle cost minimization. A high pressure reactor calorimeter has been developed to study chemical reactions in supercritical fluids. Non-dimensional analysis of the heat transfer mechanism in the calorimeter verifies the application of the Nusselt correlation in scCO2. The reactor's cover and flange have been modified to be fully temperature controlled and their contribution to the dynamic response of the calorimeter is investigated.
