β-Glucan is widely distributed in various plants and microorganisms and is composed of β-1,3-linked d-glucose units. It may have a branched short or long side chain of glucose units with β-1,6- or β-1,4-linkage. Numerous studies have investigated different β-glucans and revealed their bioactivities. To understand the structure-function relationship of β-glucan, we constructed a split-luciferase complementation assay for the structural analysis of long-chain β-1,6-branched β-1,3-glucan. The N- and C-terminal fragments of luciferase from deep-sea shrimp were fused to insect-derived β-1,3-glucan recognition protein and fungal endo-β-1,6-glucanase (Neg1)-derived β-1,6-glucan recognition protein, respectively. In this approach, two β-glucan recognition proteins bound to β-glucan molecules come into close proximity, resulting in the assembly of the full-length reporter enzyme and induction of transient luciferase activity, indicative of the structure of β-glucan. To test the applicability of this assay, β-glucan and two β-glucan recognition proteins were mixed, resulting in an increase in the luminescence intensity in a β-1,3-glucan with a long polymer of β-1,6-glucan in a dose-dependent manner. This simple test also allows the monitoring of real-time changes in the side chain structure and serves as a convenient method to distinguish between β-1,3-glucan and long-chain β-1,6-branched β-1,3-glucan in various soluble and insoluble β-glucans. 相似文献

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites have been considered quite eminent structural materials. For more extensive applications, however, more rapid forming methods of the CFRP composites are required. As for CFRP composites with thermoplastic matrices, microwave heating and pressing with ceramic molds should be promising. In the present work, zirconia molds with varied thermal conductivity were employed to give a desired shape to the CFRP composites heated with microwave irradiation. Experimental results showed that use of the zirconia molds with smaller thermal conductivity results in shorter necessary time for the forming process. Mechanism of the notable change in the heating efficiency is discussed as well. 相似文献

We propose a novel multi-spectral imaging method based on compressive sensing (CS). In CS theory, the enhancement of signal sparsity is important for accurate signal reconstruction. The main novelty of the proposed method is the employment of a self-correlation of an image, that is a local intensity similarity and multi-spectral correlation, to enhance the sparsity of the multi-spectral image to be recovered. Local intensity similarity, which is based on the concept that spatial changes in intensity are likely to be similar within local regions, contributes to sparsity enhancement. Furthermore, we exploit multi-spectral correlation to improve the sparsity of the multi-spectral components to be recovered. In order to simultaneously exploit different types of characteristics (i.e., local intensity similarity and multi-spectral correlation) for representing a signal as sufficiently sparse, we introduce a hierarchical joint sparsity model in the CS image recovery process. Our experiments show that the use of a self-correlation significantly improves the performance of multi-spectral image reconstruction. 相似文献

A microtubule gliding assay is a biological experiment observing the dynamics of microtubules driven by motor proteins fixed on a glass surface. When appropriate microtubule interactions are set up on gliding assay experiments, microtubules often organize and create higher-level dynamics such as ring and bundle structures. In order to reproduce such higher-level dynamics on computers, we have been focusing on making a real-time 3D microtubule simulation. This real-time 3D microtubule simulation enables us to gain more knowledge on microtubule dynamics and their swarm movements by means of adjusting simulation parameters in a real-time fashion. One of the technical challenges when creating a real-time 3D simulation is balancing the 3D rendering and the computing performance. Graphics processor unit (GPU) programming plays an essential role in balancing the millions of tasks, and makes this real-time 3D simulation possible. By the use of general-purpose computing on graphics processing units (GPGPU) programming we are able to run the simulation in a massively parallel fashion, even when dealing with more complex interactions between microtubules such as overriding and snuggling. Due to performance being an important factor, a performance model has also been constructed from the analysis of the microtubule simulation and it is consistent with the performance measurements on different GPGPU architectures with regards to the number of cores and clock cycles. 相似文献

We present an interactive design system for designing free‐formed bamboo‐copters, where novices can easily design free‐formed, even asymmetric bamboo‐copters that successfully fly. The designed bamboo‐copters can be fabricated using digital fabrication equipment, such as a laser cutter. Our system provides two useful functions for facilitating this design activity. First, it visualizes a simulated flight trajectory of the current bamboo‐copter design, which is updated in real time during the user's editing. Second, it provides an optimization function that automatically tweaks the current bamboo‐copter design such that the spin quality—how stably it spins—and the flight quality—how high and long it flies—are enhanced. To enable these functions, we present non‐trivial extensions over existing techniques for designing free‐formed model airplanes [ UKSI14 ], including a wing discretization method tailored to free‐formed bamboo‐copters and an optimization scheme for achieving stable bamboo‐copters considering both spin and flight qualities. 相似文献

Abstract— A novel emitting vinyl polymer, poly[4‐(7‐{4‐[N,N‐bis(9,9‐dimethylfluoren‐2‐yl)amino]phenyl}‐2,1,3‐benzothiadiazol‐4‐yl)phenylethylene] (PVFABT), was designed and synthesized. The new vinyl polymer was found to form smooth amorphous films with a high glass‐transition temperature of 199°C. The polymer possesses bipolar character with both electron‐donating and accepting properties. It undergoes reversible anodic oxidation and cathodic reduction to give stable cation and anion radicals. It exhibits intense orange fluorescence in solution and as film. A multilayer organic electroluminescent device using PVFABT as an emitting material emitted orange light, exhibiting high performance. 相似文献

This paper presents a nonvisible field-of-view (NFOV) target estimation approach that incorporates optical and acoustic sensors. An optical sensor can accurately localize a target in its field-of-view whereas the acoustic sensor could estimate the target location over a much larger space, but only with limited accuracy. A recursive Bayesian estimation framework where observations of the optical and acoustic sensors are probabilistically treated and fused is proposed in this paper. A technique to construct the observation likelihood when two microphones are used as the acoustic sensor is also described. The proposed technique derives and stores the interaural level difference of observations from the two microphones for different target positions in advance and constructs the likelihood through correlation. A parametric study of the proposed acoustic sensing technique in a controlled test environment, and experiments with an NFOV target in an actual indoor environment are presented to demonstrate the capability of the proposed technique. 相似文献

Since controller teams are in charge of en-route air traffic control, team cooperation is a key issue for good control performance. We conducted ethnographic field observation at the Tokyo Area Control Center and then analyzed the obtained data to develop a cognitive model of team cooperation in en-route air traffic control. We segmented conversational records, behavioral records, and so on by control unit, and then clarified relations between the segments and identified expert knowledge and judgment behind them. Cognitive processes of controller teams were reconstructed based on a concept of distributed cognition. The analysis revealed that the mutual belief model is applicable to team cooperation processes, the role assignment of tasks within a controller team is implicit and that control plans are implemented smoothly once team situation awareness has been established. This paper presents a novel model-based approach of dynamic defocus and occlusion compensation method in a multi-projection environment. Conventional defocus compensation research applies appearance-based method, which needs a point spread function (PSF) calibration when either position or orientation of an object to be projected is changed, thus cannot be applied to interactive applications in which the object dynamically moves. On the other hand, we propose a model-based method in which PSF and geometric calibrations are required only once in advance, and projector’s PSF is computed online based on geometric relationship between the projector and the object without any additional calibrations. We propose to distinguish the oblique blur (loss of high-spatial-frequency components according to the incidence angle of the projection light) from the defocus blur and to introduce it to the PSF computation. For each part of the object surfaces, we select an optimal projector that preserves the largest amount of high-spatial-frequency components of the original image to realize defocus-free projection. The geometric relationship can also be used to eliminate the cast shadows of the projection images in multi-projection environment. Our method is particularly useful in the interactive systems because the movement of the object (consequently geometric relationship between each projector and the object) is usually measured by an attached tracking sensor.
