A significant part of the theory of one-dimensional linear shift-invariant systems is based on the concept of weighting function (or impulse response): the output is the convolution of the weighting function with the input. This paper introduces the concept of linear translation-invariant systems and uses this notion in studying impulse response, z-transforms, and transfer functions for multidimensional systems.  相似文献

This paper addresses one of the central problems arising at the transfer stage in machine translation: syntactic mismatches, that is, mismatches between a source-language sentence structure and its equivalent target-language sentence structure. The level at which we assume the transfer to be carried out is the Deep-Syntactic Structure (DSyntS) as proposed in the Meaning-Text Theory (MTT). DSyntS is abstract enough to avoid all types of divergences that result either from restricted lexical co-occurrence or from surface-syntactic discrepancies between languages. As for the remaining types of syntactic divergences, all of them occur not only interlinguistically, but also intralinguistically; this means that establishing correspondences between semantically equivalent expressions of the source and target languages that diverge with respect to their syntactic structure is nothing else than paraphrasing. This allows us to adapt the powerful intralinguistic paraphrasing mechanism developed in MTT for purposes of interlinguistic transfer.  相似文献

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have been recognised as a powerful means to integrate and analyse data from various sources in the context of comprehensive floodplain management. As part of this comprehensive approach to floodplain management, it is very important to be able to predict the consequences of different scenarios in terms of flooded areas and associated risk. Hydrologic and hydraulic modelling plays a crucial role and there is much to gain in incorporating these modelling capabilities in GIS. This is still a rather complex task and research is being done on the full integration of these models. Interfacing between these models and GIS may be a very efficient way of overcoming the difficulties and getting very good results in terms of engineering practice. This paper presents results based on the use of Intergraph GIS coupled with Idrisi GIS. Using these two systems substantially increased the flexibility of using GIS as a tool for flood studies. A lumped (XSRAIN) and a distributed (OMEGA) hydrologic models were used to simulate flood hydrographs. The well known HEC-2 Hydraulic model was used to compute flooded areas. These models were applied in the Livramento catchment with very good results. The computation of flooded areas for different flood scenarios, and its representation in GIS, can be used in the assessment of affected property and associated damages. This is a very useful GIS-based approach to floodplain management.  相似文献

A 2 cm long three-contact multisection laser has been fabricated for modelocking at very low repetition rates. Active modelocking yields 8.0-12.3 ps pulses at 2.2, 4.3 and 6.5 GHz corresponding to the fundamental, first, and second harmonics of the cavity resonance frequency. This device demonstrates the feasibility of fabricating monolithic pulse sources operating at rates as low as the OC-48 Sonet transmission rate (2.488 Gbit/s).<>  相似文献

Several yield-enhancement techniques are proposed for the last two stages of VLSI design, i.e., topological/symbolic and physical layout synthesis. Our approach is based on modifications of the symbolic/physical layout to reduce the sensitivity of the design to random point defects without increasing the area, rather than fault tolerance techniques. A layout compaction algorithm is presented and the yield improvement results of some industrial layout examples are shown. This algorithm has been implemented in a commercial CAD framework. Some routing techniques for wire length and via minimization are presented, and the results of wire length reduction in benchmark routing examples are shown. We demonstrate through topological optimization for PLA-based designs that yield enhancement can be applied even at a higher level of design abstraction. Experimental results show that it is possible to achieve significant yield improvements without increasing the layout area by applying the proposed techniques during layout synthesis  相似文献

Recently, we demonstrated that administration of the orally active iron chelating agent deferiprone (1,2-dimethyl-3-hydroxypyrid-4-one (L1)) at 6-hour intervals results in significantly greater urinary iron excretion than that induced during administration of the drug at 12-hour intervals. That study was conducted in thalassemia patients, all of whom had received a packed red cell transfusion of 15 cc/kg. 72 hours prior to evaluation of urinary iron excretion, at a time when endogenous erythropoiesis would be expected to be at its lowest. In clinical practice however, thalassemia patients, suppression of endogenous erythropoiesis is not sustained between transfusions. We set out to determine the influence that administration of deferiprone has on urinary iron excretion at lower hemoglobin concentrations, immediately prior to transfusion. We hypothesized that hemoglobin levels will affect the ability of deferiprone to chelate iron. Ten regularly transfused patients with homozygous beta-thalassemia (HBT) aged mean +/- SD, 20.9 +/- 4.7, range 13 - 27 years, receiving long-term therapy with deferiprone, were treated with deferiprone 75 mg/kg/day, administered every 6 hours (or every 12 hours) for 72 hours immediately prior to a blood transfusion in the first month. One month later each patient received the other of the 2 dosing regimens for 72 hours immediately prior to transfusion. The deferiprone-induced 24-hour urinary iron excretion was similar during both dosing regimens; 0.56 +/- 0.45 mg/kg when L1 was given every 6 hours and 0.48 +/- 0.52 mg/kg when L1 was administered every 12 hours (p = 0.79). However, the calculated 24-hour area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC0-24) of deferiprone was significantly lower when deferiprone was administered at 6-hour intervals (6,762.8 +/- 1,601.6 mg*min/l), than that observed when deferiprone was administered every 12 hours (8,250.1 +/- 1,235.7 mg*min/l) (p = 0.04). The pharmacokinetics of deferiprone when administered immediately prior to transfusions are different from those following transfusions. More studies assessing total body iron excretion are needed to determine the contribution of the fecal route in iron excretion.  相似文献

This paper presents a new concept for a travel aid for the blind. A prototype device, called the NavBelt, was developed to test this concept. The device can be used as a primary or secondary aid, and consists of a portable computer, ultrasonic sensors, and stereophonic headphone. The computer applies navigation and obstacle avoidance technologies that were developed originally for mobile robots. The computer then uses a stereophonic imaging technique to process the signals from the ultrasonic sensors and relays their information to the user via stereophonic headphones. The user can interpret the information as an acoustic “picture” of the surroundings, or, depending on the operational mode, as the recommended travel direction. The acoustic signals are transmitted as discrete beeps or continuous sounds. Experimental results with the NavBelt simulator and a portable prototype show that users can travel safely in an unfamiliar and cluttered environment at speeds of up to 0.8 m/s  相似文献
