The effects of homopolymer and copolymer compositions and structures in styrene/n-butyl acrylate (Sty/BA) latices on sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate (SDOSS) surfactant mobility and its preferential concentration at the film–air (F–A) and film–substrate (F–S) interfaces were examined using attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR FTIR) spectroscopy. It appears that the SDOSS concentration at the F–S interface is highest when the Sty/BA feed ratio is 50/50, and the excess of Sty results in migration of SDOSS surfactant to the F–A interface. This behavior is attributed to the increased glass transition temperature and diminished compatibility between surfactant molecules and copolymer latex. This study also shows that the primary factors that influence exudation to either F–A or F–S interfaces are surface tension of the substrate, glass transition temperature, water flux during coalescence, and compatibility between latex components. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

For the agricultural vehicle straight‐line tracking system, three control algorithms based upon the finite‐time control technique have been proposed to force the vehicle to track a straight line. Without considering the lumped disturbance, a backstepping‐like finite‐time state‐feedback controller is first developed. On this basis, an adaptive state‐feedback controller in conjunction with integral sliding mode is further developed in the presence of the lumped disturbance. Finally, a sliding mode disturbance observer is given to estimate the lumped disturbance, and the composite control scheme is presented. Under the composite controller, the lumped disturbance can be compensated and thus the disturbance rejection property has been significantly improved. Total phosphorus (TP) removal in aged constructed wetlands poses a challenge, especially when treated with swine wastewater with high concentrations of phosphorus (P). Our earlier studies with anaerobic lagoon swine wastewater treatment in constructed wetlands showed a decline in P removal (45-22%) with increased years of operation. These particular wetlands have been treated with swine wastewater every year since the first application in 1997. Preliminary lab-scale studies were conducted to evaluate the efficiency of polyaluminium chloride (PAC) in the removal of phosphate-P (PO4-P) from swine wastewater. The experimental objective was to increase the phosphorus treatment efficiency in constructed wetland by adding PAC as a precipitating agent. PAC was added by continuous injection to each wetland system at a rate of 3 L day(-1) (1:5 dilution of concentrated PAC). Swine wastewater was added from an anaerobic lagoon to four constructed wetland cells (11m wide x 40m long) at TP loads of 5.4-6.1 kg ha(-1) day(-1) in two experimental periods, September to November of 2008 and 2009. Treatment efficiency of two wetland systems: marsh-pond-marsh (M-P-M) and continuous marsh (CM) was compared. The wetlands were planted with cattails (Typha latifolia L.) and bulrushes (Scirpus americanus). In 2008, PAC treatment showed an increase of 27.5 and 40.8% of TP removal over control in M-P-M and CM respectively. Similar trend was also observed in the following year. PAC as a flocculant and precipitating agent showed potential to enhance TP removal in constructed wetlands treated with swine wastewater. 相似文献

The study and practice of business strategy is fundamentally based on employing creative solutions to differentiate a firm from its competitors. Theories used to describe the causes and consequences of strategic differentiation tend to focus on organization‐level characteristics such as resources, capabilities and structures. However, less is known about day‐to‐day processes and practices whereby strategic managers develop create solutions necessary to establish strategic differentiation. This paper presents a preliminary field study of factors suggested by previous strategy process and micro‐strategy research that may lead to, and result from, creative strategic decisions. Findings produced by a longitudinal field study of 52 strategic decisions reveal that creative strategic choices arise in response to managers' perceptions of uncertainty and competition. The findings also suggest that creativity may improve the ultimate effectiveness of strategic choices by 5–10 per cent. 相似文献

Single phase (Sr1–x K2x
)Zr4(PO4)6, where x lies between 0.0 and 1.0, ceramic powder with a submicron scale particle size has been synthesized successfully at calcination temperatures as low as 650–750°C by a sol-gel technique. The formation of the powder strongly depends on calcination temperature, but is independent of solution pH in the studied range. Dilatometric measurement shows an ultra-low linear coefficient of thermal expansion of 0.1×10–6°C–1 when x=0.5 at temperature intervals of 25–1000°C. Thermal conductivity and flexural strength of the materials were determined at ambient temperature to be 1.0 Wm–1K–1 and as high as 280 MPa, respectively, indicating that this material can be an excellent candidate in many applications, especially those subjected directly to severe environments. 相似文献

Hot stage optical and scanning electron microscopy were used to study isothermal crystallization of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) in the presence of polyimide (Pl) fibres. Under the same crystallization conditions, the occurrence of transcrystallization depends on the type of fibre used. The transcrystalline interphase has a composed structure, with a characteristic layer adjacent to the fibre surface. The layer is about 1 m thick and has a crosshatched lamellar morphology. At the interface between iPP and the Pl fibre which causes transcrystallization, the nuclei from which the transcrystalline zone grows is observed. The nuclei consist of sheaves of closely packed parallel needleshaped lamellae of uniform thickness. The transcrystallization phenomenon can be explained by the epitaxial crystallization of iPP matrix on the surface fragments (domains) formed by extended chains of Pl fibres. Organic semiconductors may be processed from fluids using graphical arts printing and patterning techniques to create complex circuitry. Because organic semiconductors are weak van der Waals solids, the creation of glassy phases during processing is quite common. Because structural disorder leads to electronic disorder, it is necessary to understand these phases to optimize and control the electronic properties of these materials. Here we review the significance of glassy phases in organic semiconductors. We examine challenges in the measurement of the glass transition temperature and the accurate classification of phases in these relatively rigid materials. Device implications of glassy phases are discussed. Processing schemes that are grounded in the principles of glass physics and sound glass transition temperature measurement will more quickly achieve desired structure and electronic characteristics, accelerating the exciting progress of organic semiconductor technology development. 相似文献

Expression levels of fast-twitch (SERCA1), slow-twitch (SERCA2a) and "housekeeping" (SERCA2b) isoforms of the sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-transport ATPase were monitored during regeneration of rat soleus muscles following necrosis induced by the toxin notexin at the tissue level by Western blot analysis and at the cellular level by immunocytochemical analysis. Due to necrosis, levels of muscle-specific SERCA1 and SERCA2a isoforms dropped to low levels on the third day after injection of the toxin. Subsequently, during regeneration both isoforms recovered but with a different time course. Expression of the fast type SERCA1 increased first. This type showed its most pronounced increase between day 3 and 10. Expression of the slow type SERCA2a was biphasic. After an increase to approximately one third of the control value on days 5-10, it showed its main increase up to the control level between day 10 and 21. Expression levels of the house-keeping SERCA2b isoform remained relatively constant throughout the 4 weeks of regeneration. Between day 10 and 28, when new innervation is established, SERCA2a expression spread gradually over almost all fibers whereas the number of SERCA1-expressing fibers decreased and only a limited number of fibers co-expressed SERCA1 and SERCA2a. At 4 weeks of regeneration, expression of the fast isoform was found only in 12% of the fibers, whereas the slow form was found in 98% of the fibers. In the contralateral untreated soleus muscles, 26% SERCA1-positive and 81% SERCA2a-positive fibers were observed. Immunocytochemical analysis showed that SERCA1 and SERCA2a were co-expressed with fast and slow myosin isoforms in fibers of normal muscles but in regenerated muscle only slow myosin and slow SERCA isoforms correlated. The results show that during regeneration levels of fast and slow SERCA proteins change in a similar way as their mRNAs do. However, in regenerated soleus, unlike in normal muscle, expression of slow SERCA is coregulated only with the slow myosin isoform. This finding is in agreement with the fact that the number of slow type fibers is increased in regenerated soleus. 相似文献
