On the Use of Glyoxal Bis (t-Butyl Nitron) as a Spin Trap Nitroxides derived from glyoxal bis(t-butyl nitrone), GBBN , have been studied by e.s.r. spectroscopy. Well resolved e.s.r. spectra exhibiting extra hyperfine splitting by magnetic active nuclei in γ-position have been recorded for the spin adducts of alkyl, as well as .N3 and .CH2Cl radicals. Enhanced stability was found for the spin adducts of halogen atoms. However, a wider application of this spin trap is limited by the strong superposition of the e.s.r. signals of different radical spin adducts which is directly related to almost identical conformations of these nitroxides. 相似文献
A field-compatible collection system was developed and tested for the collection and analysis of fungal fragments. The new collection system consists of two types of Sharp-Cut cyclone samplers (PM2.5 and PM1.0) and an after-filter. Fungal particles are collected into three size fractions: (1) spores (>2.5 μ m); (2) a fragment-spore mixture (1.0–2.5 μ m); and (3) submicrometer-sized fragments (<1.0 μ m). The system was laboratory-tested using polystyrene latex (PSL) particles and particulate matter aerosolized from sporulating Aspergillus versicolor and Stachybotrys chartarum cultures. In addition to the particle count measured with direct-reading instruments, the (1 → 3)-β-D-glucan content in each size fraction was determined with the Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay. Experiments conducted with PSL particles showed that the 50% cut-off values of the two cyclone samplers under the test conditions were 2.25 μ m and 1.05 μ m, respectively. No particle bounce onto the after-filter was observed when the total particle number entering the collection system was kept below 1.6 × 108. The (1 → 3)-β-D-glucan assay of samples aerosolized from both fungal species suggested that surface area is an important factor for determining the (1 → 3)-β-D-glucan content in the entire size-range of particles. Development of thin-film deodorizers started in the 1970ies, and they have been in industrial use since the middle of the 1980ies. The latest type is the SoftColumnTM, a deodorizer specially developed for mild, low cost processing of seed oils. This deodorizer consists of a structured packing section and a flexible holding section. Regenerative oil heating/cooling and final heating is carried out in external, sparged vacuum heat exchangers, and the design of the heat exchangers leads to superior heat recovery and savings in fuel consumption. This set-up provides major advantages with regard to oil quality, economy, and flexibility. The extremely effective stripping of free fatty acids (FFAs) leads to shorter overall holding times of the oil at elevated temperatures, and steam consumption is cut to a third of the amount required in conventional deodorizers. The product oil has not only low acidity, low colour, good taste and stability, but also low trans fatty acid (TFA) concentrations. By adjusting the stripping steam flow the plant can be optimized both for tocopherol retention or removal. Flexible holding times allow optimization of heat bleaching/TFA formation without compromising on capacity. Zusammenfassung Die flüchtigen Aromakomponenten von dreizehn Kulturerdbeersorten und von Walderdbeeren wurden im Freon-Extrakt von frischen und gefrosteten Früchten untersucht. Mit Hilfe der GC/MS konnten etwa 120 flüchtige Verbindungen identifiziert werden. Über eine Aromaextrakt-Verdünnungsanalyse (AEVA) erfolgte mittels Schnüffeltechnik die Bestimmung der wesentlichen sensorischen Qualitäten, denen 17 Schlüsselverbindungen zugeordnet werden konnten. Die Analyse der Schlüsselverbindungen im Erdbeersortiment zeigt deutliche Sortenunterschiede.
Analysis of strawberry flavour — Quantification of the volatile components of varieties of cultivated and wild strawberries
The volatile components of thirteen strawberry varieties and of a wild strawberry were evaluated in the freon-extract of fresh and frozen fruits. With the aid of GC/MS about 120 volatile substances could be identified. The determination of the substantial sensory qualities resulted from AEDA with sniffing technique. In this way 17 key compounds could be attached. The analysis of the key compounds point out significient variety differences.
Ten of the main European gas Companies decided to carry out the second intercomparison exercise of high pressure test facilities within GERG (Groupe Européen de Recherches Gazières). The survey has compared the performances of 8 high pressure gas flow laboratories in the period autumn 1998–autumn 1999.
The aim was to check to what extent results obtained at the various laboratories are comparable and to reveal possible ways of improving the performances. Tests have been carried out using three transfer standard packages of three different diameters. The considered performance parameters have been: (1) agreement of results between laboratories, (2) short term stability and (3) day to day reproducibility of the reference flow.
The following main conclusions have been drawn:
• The majority of the laboratories involved in the intercomparison produced very accurate results. Despite the involvement of five independent traceability chains, 92.5% of the test results are within a band of ±0.25%.
• For most facilities the short term fluctuations are of the order of ±0.1%. Individual facilities may perform even better.
• This exercise allowed us to confirm the good results of the previous campaign and to identify some items to improve future intercomparisons.

We investigated the characteristics of inverted solar cells comprising bulk-heterojunction active layers of ZnO nanowire arrays and poly(3-hexylthiophene), P3HT. By utilizing a sputtered ZnO seed layer, we are able to grow vertically oriented ZnO nanowire arrays homoepitaxially. Unlike the ZnO nanowires that are grown on sol–gel derived seed layers, our nanowires are more uniform in their dimensions and spatial distribution. This sputtered seed layer also acts as the hole-blocking layer when these nanowire arrays are incorporated in solar cells; hybrid solar cells comprising these nanowires and P3HT exhibit power conversion efficiencies of 1.6%. To date, this is the highest efficiency observed for ZnO nanowire arrays:P3HT hybrid solar cells. 相似文献
The two‐step conversion process consisting of metal halide deposition followed by conversion to hybrid perovskite has been successfully applied toward producing high‐quality solar cells of the archetypal MAPbI3 hybrid perovskite, but the conversion of other halide perovskites, such as the lower bandgap FAPbI3, is more challenging and tends to be hampered by the formation of hexagonal nonperovskite polymorph of FAPbI3, requiring Cs addition and/or extensive thermal annealing. Here, an efficient room‐temperature conversion route of PbI2 into the α‐FAPbI3 perovskite phase without the use of cesium is demonstrated. Using in situ grazing incidence wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (GIWAXS) and quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D), the conversion behaviors of the PbI2 precursor from its different states are compared. α‐FAPbI3 forms spontaneously and efficiently at room temperature from P2 (ordered solvated polymorphs with DMF) without hexagonal phase formation and leads to complete conversion after thermal annealing. The average power conversion efficiency (PCE) of the fabricated solar cells is greatly improved from 16.0(±0.32)% (conversion from annealed PbI2) to 17.23(±0.28)% (from solvated PbI2) with a champion device PCE > 18% due to reduction of carrier recombination rate. This work provides new design rules toward the room‐temperature phase transformation and processing of hybrid perovskite films based on FA+ cation without the need for Cs+ or mixed halide formulation. 相似文献
Despite the dramatic improvements in recurrence-free survival in patients with metastatic melanoma treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), a number of patients develop metastases during adjuvant therapy. It is not currently possible to predict which patients are most likely to develop disease recurrence due to a lack of reliable biomarkers. Thus, we retrospectively analyzed the case records of all patients who commenced adjuvant ICI therapy between January 2018 and December 2021 in a single university skin cancer center (n = 46) (i) to determine the rates of disease recurrence, (ii) to examine the utility of established markers, and (iii) to examine whether re-challenge with immunotherapy resulted in clinical response. Twelve out of forty-six (26%) patients developed a relapse on adjuvant immunotherapy in our cohort, and the median time to relapse was 139 days. Adjuvant immunotherapy was continued in three patients. Of the twelve patients who developed recurrence during adjuvant immunotherapy, seven had further disease recurrence within the observation period, with a median time of 112 days after the first progress. There was no significant difference comparing early recurrence (<180 days after initiation) on adjuvant immunotherapy to late recurrence (>180 days after initiation) on adjuvant immunotherapy. Classical tumor markers, including serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and S-100, were unreliable for the detection of disease recurrence. Baseline lymphocyte and eosinophil counts and those during immunotherapy were not associated with disease recurrence. Interestingly, patients with NRAS mutations were disproportionately represented (60%) in the patients who developed disease recurrence, suggesting that these patients should be closely monitored during adjuvant therapy. 相似文献
Histamine is a pleiotropic mediator involved in a broad spectrum of (patho)-physiological processes, one of which is the regulation of inflammation. Compounds acting on three out of the four known histamine receptors are approved for clinical use. These approved compounds comprise histamine H1-receptor (H1R) antagonists, which are used to control allergic inflammation, antagonists at H2R, which therapeutically decrease gastric acid release, and an antagonist at H3R, which is indicated to treat narcolepsy. Ligands at H4R are still being tested pre-clinically and in clinical trials of inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, dermatitis, and psoriasis. These trials, however, documented only moderate beneficial effects of H4R ligands so far. Nevertheless, pre-clinically, H4R still is subject of ongoing research, analyzing various inflammatory, allergic, and autoimmune diseases. During inflammatory reactions in gut tissues, histamine concentrations rise in affected areas, indicating its possible biological effect. Indeed, in histamine-deficient mice experimentally induced inflammation of the gut is reduced in comparison to that in histamine-competent mice. However, antagonists at H1R, H2R, and H3R do not provide an effect on inflammation, supporting the idea that H4R is responsible for the histamine effects. In the present review, we discuss the involvement of histamine and H4R in inflammatory and inflammation-associated diseases of the gut. 相似文献
