Hydrogen (H2) is one of the most promising renewable energy sources, anaerobic bacterial H2 fermentation is considered as one of the most environmentally sustainable alternatives to meet the potential fossil fuel demand. Bio-H2 is the cleanest and most effective source of energy provided by the dark fermentation utilizing organic substrates and different wastewaters. In this study, the bio-H2 production was achieved by using the bacteria Acinetobacter junii-AH4. Further, optimization was carried out at different pH (5.0–8.0) in the presence of wastewaters as substrates (Rice mill wastewater (RMWW), Food wastewater (FWW) and Sugar wastewater (SWW). In this way, the optimized experiments excelled with the maximum cumulative H2 production of 566.44 ± 3.5 mL/L (100% FWW at pH 7.5) in the presence of Acinetobacter junii-AH4. To achieve this, a bioreactor (3 L) was employed for the effective production of H2 and Acinetobacter junii-AH4 has shown the highest cumulative H2 of 613.2 ± 3.0 mL/L, HPR of 8.5 ± 0.4 mL/L/h, HY of 1.8 ± 0.09 mol H2/mol glucose. Altogether, the present study showed a COD removal efficiency of 79.9 ± 3.5% by utilizing 100% food wastewater at pH 7.5. The modeled data established a batch fermentation system for sustainable H2 production. This study paves the way on reducing smoke emission and NOx emissions of research diesel engine by detailing the effect of water addition in biodiesel. Fuel samples were prepared with different concentrations of water in orange peel oil biodiesel (94% waste orange peel oil biodiesel + 4% water + 2% Span 80 (WOPOBDE1) and 90% waste orange peel oil biodiesel + 8% water + 2% Span 80 (WOPOBDE2). Span 80 was employed as a nonionic surfactant, which emulsifies water in biodiesel. Experimental results revealed that the nitrogen oxides and smoke emission of orange peel oil biodiesel emulsion were reduced by 11%–19% and 3%–21%, respectively, compared to that of neat orange peel oil biodiesel (WOPOBD). In addition, the introduction of orange peel oil–water emulsions in the diesel engine considerably reduced the emissions of unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. The overall hydrocarbon emission of WOPOBDE2 was 12.2% lower than that of WOPOBD and 16.3% lower than that of diesel. The overall CO emission of WOPOBDE2 was 17% lower than that of base fuel (WOPOBD) and 21.8% lower than that of diesel. Experimental results revealed that modified fuel had higher brake thermal efficiency and lower brake specific fuel consumption than that of base fuel at all engine brake power levels. 相似文献

In water-cooled nuclear reactors, the maximum power which can be extracted from the core is limited by critical heat flux (CHF). CHF in the high-quality region is known as dryout. In advanced nuclear reactors, the coolant flow occurs solely by virtue of natural circulation; however, instabilities may occur during off-normal operations. This may lead to premature dryout due to lower coolant flow rates seen by the heater during such oscillations. This paper describes the experimental investigation on the effect of flow oscillations on the CHF with the time period of 120 s, which is observed typically in the large-scale natural circulation system. Based on observations made with respect to temperature transient, the continuous dryout is preceded by the transient dryout for higher flow oscillations. But as flow fluctuation decreases, the transient dryout phenomenon is found to disappear. The applicability of the look-up table to predict CHF under oscillatory flow conditions using suitable correction factors (CFs) for premature dryout has been evaluated. CFs for the CHF under oscillations suggested by previous authors have been compared. The maximum possible degradation in CHF value suggested by previous authors has been found to agree with the present experimental data. Percentage fluctuation in heat transfer coefficient (HTC) at fully developed annular flow conditions has been evaluated, and it is found that fluctuation in HTC is in phase with the fluctuation in flow. 相似文献

In the present paper, therapeutic treatment of infected tumorous cells has been studied through mathematical modeling and simulation of heat transfer in tissues by using a nonlinear dual-phase lag bioheat transfer model with Dirichlet boundary condition. The components of volumetric heat source in this model such as blood perfusion and metabolism are assumed experimentally validated temperature-dependent function, which gives more accurate temperature distribution in tissues through this model. We have used the finite difference and RK (4, 5) techniques of numerical methods to solve the proposed problem and obtained the exact solution in a particular case. After comparison, we got a good agreement between them. We have used dimensionless quantities throughout this paper.
