This study was conducted to investigate risk behaviors and AIDS-preventive variables in high school adolescents. One hundred fifty-two students in Grades 10 through 12 were administered an AIDS-related behavior questionnaire and the Attitudes Toward AIDS Scale-High School Version (ATAS-HS; Goh, 1992). The results indicated that use of alcohol was far more common than other risk behaviors among the respondents. Rates of sexual intercourse and intravenous drug use were significantly lower than those reported in other research. Self-efficacy was significantly related to AIDS-preventive behavioral intentions, perceived knowledge, and measured knowledge about AIDS. Because the AIDS-preventive variables functioned differently in their relationships to sexual practices, the correlations suggest a pattern of co-occurrence between specific behavior intentions and actual AIDS-preventive behaviors (i.e., sexual experience, use of condoms). In addition, significant gender and grade differences were found on selected risk behaviors and AIDS-preventive variables. 相似文献

ABSTRACT: In this study, the effect on taste due to the addition of air bubbles to a water-based gel was investigated. The gel phase contained either sucrose to give a sweet taste or sodium chloride to give a salty taste. For the sweet gels, taste intensities were evaluated for samples with different volume fractions of the air bubbles (up to 40%, v/v) and different concentrations of the sucrose. For the salty gels, samples were evaluated at 40% volume fraction of air bubbles. It was found that a reduction of the sodium chloride or sucrose by the same weight percentage as the volume fraction of the air bubbles in the samples gave equal taste perception as the nontastant-reduced samples. Moreover, saltiness and sweetness perception were clearly enhanced at 40% volume fractions of air bubbles if the sodium chloride or sucrose was not reduced. Thus, the overall tastes of the samples appeared to depend mainly on the concentration levels of the salt or the sucrose in the aqueous phase irrespective of the volume fraction of the air bubbles. However, the air bubbles were found to change the texture and appearance of the samples. It has been demonstrated that the inclusion of air bubbles offers scope for the reduction of sodium chloride or sucrose in food products. 相似文献

铜丝球焊由于其经济优势和优越的电气性能近来得到了普及,然而,在引线键合工艺中用铜丝取代金丝面临着一些技术上的挑战。多年来,IC芯片焊盘结构已经逐步适应了金丝球焊。铜在本质上比金硬度高,因此以铜线取代金线便引出了有关硬度的问题。研究了用25.4μm铜丝球焊中与键合机参数有关的铜焊球硬度特性。采用电子打火系统不同的电流和打火时间设置,用5%氢气和95%氮气组成的惰性保护气体形成了一个典型的25.4μm大小的铜焊球,研究了维氏硬度的焊球。用实验设计建立了第一和第二键合参数,进行了无空气焊球基本数据调整。通过改变电子打火系统参数。对硬度特性进行了进一步的测试。典型的键合球的大小和厚度的第一键合响应证实铜键合球的生产实力与电子打火系统的电流和打火时间有关. 相似文献

Engineering of glycosidases with efficient transglycosidasesactivity is an alternative to glycosyltransferases or glycosynthasesfor the synthesis of oligosaccharides and glycoconjugates. However,the engineering of transglycosidases by directed evolution methodologiesis hampered by the lack of efficient screening systems for sugar-transferactivity. We report here the development of digital imaging-basedhigh-throughput screening methodology for the directed evolutionof glycosidases into transgalactosidases. Using this methodology,we detected transglycosidase mutants in intact Escherichia colicells by digital imaging monitoring of the activation of non-or low-hydrolytic mutants by an acceptor substrate. We screenedseveral libraries of mutants of β-glycosidase from Thermusthermophilus using this methodology and found variants withup to a 70-fold overall increase in the transglycosidase/hydrolysisactivity ratio. Using natural disaccharide acceptors, thesetransglycosidase mutants were able to synthesise trisaccharides,as a mixture of two regioisomers, with up to 76% yield. 相似文献

There is an increasing interest by consumers for high quality food products with a clear geographical origin. These products are encouraged and suitable analytical techniques are needed for the quality control. This overview concerns an investigation of the current analytical techniques that are being used for the determination of the geographical origin of food products. The analytical approaches have been subdivided into four groups; mass spectrometry techniques, spectroscopic techniques, separation techniques, and other techniques. The principles of the techniques together with their advantages and drawbacks, and reported applications concerning geographical authenticity are discussed. A combination of methods analysing different types of food compounds seems to be the most promising approach to establish the geographical origin. Chemometric analysis of the data provided by the analytical instruments is needed for such a multifactorial approach. 相似文献

Protein existence in wastewater is an important issue in wastewater management because proteins are generally present as contaminants and foulants. Hence, in this study, we focused on designing a polysulfone (PSf) hollow-fiber membrane embedded with hydrophilic iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) for protein purification by means of ultrafiltration. Before membrane fabrication, the dispersion stability of the IONPs was enhanced by the addition of a stabilizer, namely, citric acid (CA). Next, PSf–IONP–CA nanocomposite hollow-fiber membranes were prepared via a dry–wet spinning process and then characterized in terms of their hydrophilicity and morphology. Ultrafiltration and adsorption experiments were then conducted with bovine serum albumin as a model protein. The results that an IONP/CA weight ratio of 1:20 contributed to the most stable IONP dispersion. It was also revealed that the membrane incorporated with IONP–CA at a weight ratio of 1:20 exhibited the highest pure water permeability (58.6 L m−2 h−1 bar−1) and protein rejection (98.5%) while maintaining a low protein adsorption (3.3 μg/cm2).
