Weighted Parzen windows for pattern classification

This paper introduces the weighted-Parzen-window classifier. The proposed technique uses a clustering procedure to find a set of reference vectors and weights which are used to approximate the Parzen-window (kernel-estimator) classifier. The weighted-Parzen-window classifier requires less computation and storage than the full Parzen-window classifier. Experimental results showed that significant savings could be achieved with only minimal, if any, error rate degradation for synthetic and real data sets     

Physical features and diagnostics of the plasma of a free-burning copper-vapor electric arc

Results of detailed spectroscopic investigations of the spatial structure of the plasma of a free-burning electric arc between copper electrodes are given. A method of adaptive-computational spectroscopy that permits determination of nonequilibrium-plasma parameters is proposed. A Method to Design a Hierarchical Network of Field Pipelines by Solving a Sequence of Extremal Problems

Consideration was given to the problem of optimal design of the field pipeline network for oil collection and transportation. The object was described; the problem was formulated; and the formulations of extremal problems were presented. A numerical method of solution was proposed on the basis of the universal procedure of determining the spanning trees of the edge-weighted graph arranged in the nondecreasing order of their lengths. The method was illustrated by a numerical example.
