Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and loss of productive life years in the world. The underlying syndrome of CVD, atherosclerosis, is a complex disease process, which involves lipid metabolism, inflammation, innate and adaptive immunity, and many other pathophysiological aspects. Furthermore, CVD is influenced by genetic as well as environmental factors. Early detection of CVD and identification of patients at risk are crucial to reduce the burden of disease and to allow personalized treatment. As established risk factors fail to accurately predict which part of the population is likely to suffer from the disease, novel biomarkers are urgently needed. Proteomics can play a significant role in identifying these biomarkers. In this review, we describe the progress made in proteome profiling of the atherosclerotic plaque and several novel sources of potential biomarkers, including circulating cells and plasma extracellular vesicles. The importance of longitudinal biobanking in biomarker discovery is highlighted and exemplified by several plaque proteins identified in the biobank study Athero-Express. Finally, we discuss the PTMs of proteins that are involved in atherosclerosis, which may become one of the foci in the ongoing quest for biomarkers through proteomics of plaque and other matrices relevant to the progression of atherosclerosis.  相似文献

In the last decade, there has been a growing awareness regarding social exclusion. Considering the ageing population and the likelihood of older people being socially excluded, the aims of this article are to: (1) review existing studies concerning social exclusion in later life; and (2) identify how environmental and life-course perspectives are presented in studies focusing on social exclusion in later life. A systematic review in seven scientific databases was conducted to explore the peer-reviewed evidence. In total, 26 articles were included and analysed. Findings describe the variety of methods, conceptualisation, dimensions and measures used in this recent area of research. Determinants of social exclusion in later life are discussed and life-course and environmental perspectives are examined. The discussion highlights the complex character of the concept and measurement of social exclusion, and the presence of general and age-specific dimensions of social exclusion in later life. The time and context relativity and the need for life-course and environmental perspectives on social exclusion in later life are discussed. Finally, future directions of research are discussed.  相似文献

In the insect olfactory system, odor-evoked transient synchronization of antennal lobe (AL) projection neurons (PNs) is phase-locked to the oscillations of the local field potential. Sensory information is contained in the spatiotemporal synchronization pattern formed by the identities of the phase-locked PNs. This article investigates the role of feedback inhibition from the local neurons (LNs) in this coding. First, experimental biological results are reproduced with a reduced computational spiking neural network model of the AL. Second, the low complexity of the model leads to a mathematical analysis from which a lower bound on the phase-locking probability is derived. Parameters involved in the bound indicate that PN phase locking depends not only on the number of LN-evoked inhibitory postsynaptic potentials (IPSPs) previously received, but also on their temporal jitter. If the inhibition received by a PN at the current oscillatory cycle is both perfectly balanced (i.e., equal to the mean inhibitory drive) and precise (without any jitter), then the PN will be phase-locked at the next oscillatory cycle with probability one.  相似文献

This paper proposes a set of distributed real-time optimisation schemes for the steady-state optimisation of parametrically and structurally uncertain systems that are composed of multiple interconnected subsystems. These schemes are derived in the framework of modifier adaptation and use uncertain system models of varying complexity. Consequently, each distributed modifier-adaptation scheme imposes different requirements on the available plant measurements, the communication network, and the control architecture. We prove that every scheme can converge to the plant optimum despite model uncertainty and compare the main features of each approach. Finally, we illustrate our findings via a numerical example.  相似文献

The present article analyzes in detail different intrinsic small‐signal models for transistors. Particular attention is devoted to the non‐quasi‐static effects, which play a crucial role at microwave and millimeter‐wave frequencies. The advantages and disadvantages of these different equivalent circuit topologies are analyzed from both theoretical and experimental standpoints. This study clearly proves that best choice among these model representations depends on the specific device technology besides the investigated frequency range. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A business process can be characterized by multiple perspectives (intentional, organizational, operational, functional, interactional, informational, etc). Business process modeling must allow different stakeholders to analyze and represent process models according to these different perspectives. This representation is traditionally built using classical data acquisition methods together with a process representation language such as BPMN or UML. These techniques and specialized languages can easily become hard, complex and time consuming. In this paper, we propose ISEA, a participative end-user modeling approach that allows the stakeholders in a business process to collaborate together in a simple way to communicate and improve the business process elicitation in an accurate and understandable manner. Our approach covers the organizational perspective of business processes, exploits the information compiled during the elicitation of the organizational perspective and touches lightly an interactional perspective allowing users to create customized interface sketches to test the user interface navigability and the coherence within the processes. Thus, ISEA can be seen as a participative end-user modeling approach for business process elicitation and improvement.  相似文献

We present an approach for mining frequent conjunctive in arbitrary relational databases. Our pattern class is the simple, but appealing subclass of simple conjunctive queries. Our algorithm, called Conqueror $^+$ , is capable of detecting previously unknown functional and inclusion dependencies that hold on the database relations as well as on joins of relations. These newly detected dependencies are then used to prune redundant queries. We propose an efficient database-oriented implementation of our algorithm using SQL and provide several promising experimental results.  相似文献
