In this work, polypropylene/thermoplastic starch (PP/TPS) with and without halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) was prepared via melt mixing in order to obtain environmentally friendly plastics. PP‐grafted maleic anhydride (PP‐g‐MA) was used to improve the compatibility among the highly incompatible polymers. The mechanical characterization showed a reduction in the tensile properties of the polymer when TPS increased; however, HNT successfully compensated for some of the observed losses. The results from the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated that HNT is an efficient reinforcement for the thermal stability improvement. TPS caused an increase in the storage modulus (G′) and the complex viscosity (η*) which marks a change in the viscoelastic properties of the system. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed the effective plasticization of starch and better dispersion of TPS in the presence of HNT. Some samples were also buried in the soil to measure their sustainability after their lifetime lapse. The results indicated that TPS improves the biodegradability of the PP/TPS system. Detergents are an absolute requirement for studying the structure of membrane proteins. However, many conventional detergents fail to stabilise denaturation‐sensitive membrane proteins, such as eukaryotic proteins and membrane protein complexes. New amphipathic agents with enhanced efficacy in stabilising membrane proteins will be helpful in overcoming the barriers to studying membrane protein structures. We have prepared a number of deoxycholate‐based amphiphiles with carbohydrate head groups, designated deoxycholate‐based glycosides (DCGs). These DCGs are the hydrophilic variants of previously reported deoxycholate‐based N‐oxides (DCAOs). Membrane proteins in these agents, particularly the branched diglucoside‐bearing amphiphiles DCG‐1 and DCG‐2, displayed favourable behaviour compared to previously reported parent compounds (DCAOs) and conventional detergents (LDAO and DDM). In this article, a powder‐bed class of additive manufacturing (AM) is incorporated into the manufacturing of graphene nanocomposite 3D structures. For AM of graphene‐based 3D structures, graphene oxide (GO)/hydroxyapatite (Hap) nanocomposite (GHN) was synthesized at different GO to Hap percentage (wt.%), including 0.2% and 0.4% to develop a printable powder. The synthesized powder was utilized in a powder‐bed AM system to fabricate 3D porous structures of GHN powder. It was shown that at layer thickness of 125 μm and core binder saturation level of 400%, the compressive mechanical strength of the samples with higher content of graphene was improved significantly. 相似文献

Ceramic lead magnesium niobate–lead titanate ((1-x)PMN-x PT) of different compositions has been prepared by the columbite precursor method. This study discusses compositions ranging from 0.94PMN–0.06PT to 0.60PM–N0.40PT, focusing on two areas of the (1-x)PMNx PT system: compositions that exhibit electrostrictive behavior, and those that show piezoelectric behavior. In electrostrictive compositions where x is in the range of 0.06–0.20, the dielectric constant and electromechanical coupling factor dependencies on the bias field are evaluated. The optimal electromechanical properties are obtained with the composition 0.82PMN–0.18PT, measured at temperature T = Tm (the temperature of maximum dielectric constant) = 80°C and with a dc bias of 5 kV/cm. X–ray diffractometry is used to show that the (1-x)PMN-x PT system has a compositionally wide two–phase region and that 0.655PMN–0.345PT is the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) composition. Electromechanical property evaluation shows that the optimal piezoelectric properties (piezoelectric charge coefficient ( d33 ) value of 720 pC/N, dielectric constant ( K ) value of 5400, and electromechanical planar and thickness coupling coefficient ( kp and kt , respectively) values of 62% and 46%, respectively) are obtained at the MPB composition. 相似文献

Piezoelectric ceramic/polymer composites were made by a fused deposition (FD) technique, which is a solid-freeform fabrication (or layered manufacturing) technique where three-dimensional (3-D) objects are built layer by layer from a computer-aided design (CAD) file on a computer-controlled fixtureless platform. Indirect and direct FD methods were used to fabricate lead zirconate titanate (PZT)/polymer composites. For the indirect method, a CAD file for the negative image of the final part was created. A polymer mold was made via FD using a thermoplastic filament, and composite formation was completed via a lost mold technique. In the direct FD method, a thermoplastic polymeric filament that was filled with 50–55 vol% of PZT powder was used to form a positive image of the desired structure. Three-dimensional honeycomb ("3-D honeycomb") composites and "ladder" composites with 3-3 connectivity, which were formed via the FD technique, showed excellent electromechanical properties for transducer applications. In addition, the FD technique showed the ability to form composites with controlled phase periodicity, various volume fractions, and a variety of microstructures and macrostructures that are not possible with traditional composite-forming techniques. 相似文献

The present study deals with weak gels based on sulfonated polyacrylamide (SPA)/scleroglucan (SC)/Cr3+ with an exceptional thermal stability in electrolyte media. The rheological results showed that on increasing the SC concentration the shear viscosity and storage modulus of the SPA/SC/Cr3+ system were increased and the dependence of the storage modulus on frequency became weaker. The yield stress of the SPA/SC/Cr3+ system was higher than that of the corresponding SPA/SC system. The thermochemical stability increased with increasing relaxation time. The SPA/SC/Cr3+ semi‐interpenetrating network exhibited the lowest viscosity loss in electrolyte media; therefore this system may be a potential candidate for enhanced oil recovery applications. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry 相似文献

Accurate value determination of natural gas viscosity plays a key role in its management as it is one of the most important parameters in natural gas engineering calculations. In this study, a comprehensive model is suggested for prediction of natural gas viscosity in a wide range of pressures, temperatures, densities and compositions. The new model can be applicable for gases containing heptane plus and non‐hydrocarbon components. It is validated by the 2011 viscosity data from 18 different gas mixtures. In this work, the method of moments is used for solution of population balance equations appearing in modeling of emulsion polymerization (EP). The zero-one model without coagulation effect and the pseudo-bulk model including coagulation effect are investigated as two common approaches for modeling EP processes. The fixed quadrature method is used to close the set of moment equations, and the maximum entropy approach is applied to reconstruct the particle size distribution from a finite number of its moments. Comparing the results with those obtained by the high-precision finite volume technique indicates that, despite the low computational load of the moment method, it has an acceptable accuracy. These features support use of the moment technique for other applications such as on-line control or optimization in particulate processes. 相似文献

The performance assessment of linear time‐invariant batch processes when iterative learning control (ILC) is implemented has been discussed. Previous literatures show that conventional performance assessment cannot be directly applied to batch processes due to the nature of batch operations. Chen and Kong have suggested a new method to assess the control performance of batch processes using optimal ILC as the benchmark. In their work, ILC controllers are assumed to affect either stochastic or deterministic performance but without considering their interaction. This work elaborates the controllers effects on both stochastic and deterministic control performance of batch processes. It is shown that the optimal solution based on the minimum variance control law has a trade‐off between deterministic and stochastic performance, which can be shown by a trade‐off curve. Furthermore, a method is proposed to estimate this curve from routine operating data, against which the performance of ILC controllers can be assessed. In this study, high density polyethylene (HDPE) was combined with dicumyl peroxide (DCP) to produce crosslinked parts via rotational molding. The effect of DCP content (0.1–2.5 phr) on the crosslinking degree was investigated to determine its effect on the chemical, mechanical, physical, and thermal properties of HDPE. The gel content and crosslink density was found to increase with DCP content. These trends led to a reduction in the degree of crystallinity, melting, and crystallization temperature. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that crosslinked HDPE (xHDPE) has higher thermal stability than the neat matrix in both air and nitrogen atmosphere. In addition, a direct relationship was observed between improved thermal resistance and higher impact strength. Finally, relationships between the tensile properties of xHDPE and the degree of crystallinity were observed, which were all controlled by the level of crosslinking. These results have the potential to advance the manufacturing of high performance materials suitable for a wide range of applications such as automotive parts, agricultural products, chemical storage tanks, large waste containers, and fuel tanks in general. 相似文献
