The catalytic filter, V2O5-WO3-TiO2 supported on a ceramic filter, is known as a promising material for treating particulates and NO x simultaneously at optimum temperatures around 320°C. In order to improve its catalytic activity at low temperatures, the effect of Pt addition on the catalytic filter has been investigated. Catalytic filters, Pt-V2O5-WO3-TiO2/SiC, were prepared by co-impregnation of Pt, V, and W precursors on TiO2 coated-SiC filter by vacuum aided-dip coating. The Pt-added catalytic filter shifted the optimum working temperature from 280–330°C (for the non Pt-impregnated filter) to 180–230°C, providing N x slip concentration less than 20 ppm for the treatment of 700 ppm NO at a face velocity of 2 cm/s with the same value over the non Pt-added catalytic filters. The promotional effect following the addition of Pt is believed to result from electrical modification of the catalyst maintaining a high electron transfer state. Ammonia oxidation was also observed to be dominant above the optimal temperature for SCR.  相似文献

It is demonstrated by the use of spin traps that during the early stages of thermal processing of PVC considerable concentrations (> 3 × 10?6 mol g?1) of free radicals are produced which are primarily responsible for the initial products (hydroperoxides, unsaturation, and hydrogen chloride) previously shown to be formed in the polymer. From a semiquantitative analysis of these products, it is estimated that more than 50% of the radicals are formed from hydroperoxides and the rest by mechanoscission of the polymer chain. The spin traps are effective processing stabilizers in combination with a tin maleate HC1 scavenger. One of them (2-methyl-2-nitroso propane, MNP) has also been shown to be a photoantioxidant.  相似文献

Pure carbon dioxide was absorbed into distilled water and sodium hydroxide solution, in cocurrent two phase annular flow in helically coiled tubes in order to measure physical and chemical mass transfer coefficients and interfacial areas. (k*La) was correlated by the pressure drop in the test sections and interfacial areas were found to vary with the liquid phase energy dissipation. According to a new theory, (k*L) has been shown to be a function of the root mean square vorticity near the interface. The root mean square vorticity has been related to the pressure drop, gas density, liquid flow rate and liquid velocity. The physical mass transfer coefficients theoretically predicted are in good agreement with experimental results.  相似文献

Early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is essential if treatments are to be administered at an earlier point in time before neurons degenerate to a stage beyond repair. In order for early detection to occur tools used to detect the disorder must be sensitive to the earliest of cognitive impairments. Virtual reality technology offers opportunities to provide products which attempt to mimic daily life situations, as much as is possible, within the computational environment. This may be useful for the detection of cognitive difficulties. We develop a virtual simulation designed to assess visuospatial memory in order to investigate cognitive function in a group of healthy elderly participants and those with a mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Participants were required to guide themselves along a virtual path to reach a virtual destination which they were required to remember. The preliminary results indicate that this virtual simulation has the potential to be used for detection of early AD since significant correlations of scores on the virtual environment with existing neuropsychological tests were found. Furthermore, the test discriminated between healthy elderly participants and those with a MCI.  相似文献

Visual and acoustic cues may serve as aposematic signals that warn predators of poisonous foods. Olfactory aposematism, the use of innocuous odors as warning signals for toxic foods, is another possible means of alerting an animal that a potential food item is unpalatable. Although it has been suggested that olfactory aposematism might be the principle mode of warning utilized by plants in their defense against herbivores, experimental evidence is lacking. This study demonstrates that the opossum,Didelphis virginiana, can utilize an innocuous volatile compound found naturally in a mushroom as a warning signal for a delayed illness caused by mushroom toxin. This supports the contention that characteristic odors of toxic plants may serve a warning function, protecting herbivores from being poisoned and plants from being consumed.  相似文献

A series of experiments was conducted under controlled soil moisture and temperature conditions in a growth chamber to examine the effect of a range of nutrient seed coatings on the emergence to wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Kite) and oats (Avena sativa L. cv. Blackbutt) sown in a coarse sandy loam soil. Final emergence of oats was not reduced by a coating containing 10 kg P ha–1 (as monocalcium phosphate [MCP]) whereas the same coating reduced wheat emergence by 15%. The emergence of both wheat and oats was severely reduced by urea coatings (supplying 10 kg N ha–1) to 33 and 13% respectively; this injury was lessened markedly by the inclusion of phenyl phosphorodiamidate (PPD) in the urea coatings at 1% (w/w) (emergence increased to 66 and 56% respectively).Low soil moisture (67% of field capacity [FC]) resulted in almost no emergence of wheat coated with urea (± bentonites of different pH). In soil at FC, the addition of bentonite of pH 5 (B5) to urea coatings permitted greater emergence (54%) than when bentonite of pH 9 (B9) was added (32%) which, in turn, permitted greater emergence than urea coating alone (10%). When PPD and bentonite (B5 or B9) were combined either singly or together with urea in seed coatings, PPD was more effective than either of the bentonites in reducing injury and masked the slight positive effect of B5.Coatings containing various combinations of N and P sources (at 3.6 and at 8 kg ha–1 respectively) all reduced the emergence of wheat compared to raw seed (91% emergence). When applied alone, MCP was least damaging (74%); the combination of MCP with ammonium sulfate (AS) caused somewhat more injury (68%) whilst combination with calcium nitrate (CN) caused most injury (29%). In contrast, CN alone caused relatively little damage (73%) whilst AS alone was more damaging (50%). There was no significant regression found between percentage emergence and either the calculated partial salt index or the pH of the nutrient coatings. Further work is needed to examine the mechanisms of injury due to nutrient seed coatings so that safe but effective formulations can be developed.  相似文献

Male Vervet monkeys (7/treatment) were fed a “Western” diet containing 46.2% calories as fat, 39.8% as carbohydrate and 14.0% as protein. The diet was augmented with 10% cellulose or 10% pectin. A third (control) group of seven monkeys was fed a commercial ration augmented with fruit and bread. After 34 weeks, serum cholesterol levels were elevated significantly in the two test groups compared with the controls but there was no difference between the two fiber-fed groups. Serum triglycerides were unaffected. Liver cholesterol levels were the same in all three groups but liver triglyceride levels were lower in the monkeys fed cellulose. Biliary lipids were similar in all three groups as were the calculated lithogenic indices. The average aortic sudanophilia (percent of total area) in the three groups was cellulose, 10.6±2.5; pectin, 8.1±2.5; and control, 1.1±0.4. One animal in each of the groups fed “Western” diet exhibited an atherosclerotic plaque. The results indicate that there is no difference between pectin and cellulose with regard to their effects on either lipidemia or aortic sudanophilia in Vervet monkeys fed a Western-type diet.  相似文献

The axial dispersion-sedimentation model is commonly used to describe the axial concentrations of solids in three phase bubble columns at low liquid velocities. When the two parameters of this model, the particle settling velocity and the solids axial dispersion coefficient, are uncoupled by the use of various assumptions, physically unrealistic values of these parameters often result. Direct experimental measurements of solids settling rates in bubbly gas-liquid mixtures were carried out. The measured mean settling velocities decreased slightly with gas flow rate and were equal to or slightly less than the single particle free settling velocity in the liquid alone. Solids axial dispersion coefficients were also obtained from the solids settling rate distribution data, and gave values considerably less than the experimental liquid axial dispersion coefficient.  相似文献

The microstructure of Al2O3 formed by oxidation of a model NiCrAlY alloy during electron-beam physical vapor deposition of ZrO2–7.6 mol% YO1.5 is examined and compared with that formed on the bare substrate. The growth rate, morphology, and chemical composition of the oxide vary among the different constituents of the alloy surface and are further influenced by the O2 partial pressure and the physical presence of the thermal barrier coating (TBC) layer. These differences, however, are largely limited to the outer oxide layer. The interplay between the TBC and the growing oxide leads to the formation of a fine-grain Al2O3–ZrO2"mixed zone" within the thermally grown oxide. A mechanism is outlined to explain this behavior, based on the dissolution of ZrO2 in a transient Al2O3 structure growing by outward diffusion of Al, and its subsequent reprecipitation when the metastable phase transforms to the stable α-Al2O3 form.  相似文献

The metabolism of α-linolenic acid from canola oil was studied in eight normolipidemic men. The 42-day study was divided into three periods: a 6-day pre-experimental and two 18-day experimental. Approximately 75% of the dietary fat (28% of total energy) was provided by a mixture of fats during the pre-experimental period and either canola oil (CO) or sunflower oil (SO) during the experimental periods. The CO and SO diets were fed in a cross-over design. The ratios of linoleic to linolenic acid were 2.6∶1 and 73.9∶1 in the CO and SO diets, respectively. Dietary fat source had an effect on plasma phospholipid fatty acids: 18∶1n−9, 18∶3n−3 and 20∶5n−3 were higher (p<0.05), and 18∶2n−6 was lower in the phosphatidylcholine fraction; 18∶1n−9 was higher and 20∶4n−6 lower in the phosphatidyl-ethanolamine fraction; and 18∶1n−9 and 20∶5n−3 were higher and 20∶4n−6 and 22∶6n−3 were lower in the alkenylacyl-ethanolamine phospholipid fraction on the CO diet as compared to the SO diet. Consumption of the canola oil diet resulted in higher n−3 fatty acid levels and lower n−6 fatty acid levels in plasma phospholipids than consumption of the sunflower oil diet.  相似文献
