Hydrogen gas is an ideal alternative fuel and produces no greenhouse gases. The dark fermentation is considered the most attractive for production of biohydrogen gas. Duckweed is an aquatic plant that has treatment properties and can be used as biomass for the fermentation to produce eventually bio-hydrogen production. This study investigated the impact of different temperature, pH, and substrate concentration on bio-hydrogen production by fermentation. Experimental tests were run flask studies in serum bottles by aim of determing the optimal operating conditions to maximize bio-hydrogen production. According to the results, concentration loading in the range 30–40 g DW/L was determined as suitable for efficient bio-hydrogen production. Different temperatures on bio-hydrogen production were compared, and 35°C was observed to be more effective than others. Moreover, pH 5.5 was determined as the optimal pH value.  相似文献

Freedom of mobility is the latesttrend in the evolution of digital communicationsystems. In these systems bandwidth and powerconstraints limit the mobility of the users. TCM(trellis coded modulation) is a combined coding andmodulation scheme which increases the productivity ofa digital communication system without increasing thetransmitted power or the required bandwidth. A mobilecommunication channel is affected from noise andfading because of the multipath propagation. On aRayleigh fading channel, coding should be used withtechniques which uncorrelate the received energy ofeach consecutive coded symbol. Interleaving is one ofthese techniques and used to make burst errors intorandom errors which can be corrected by errorcorrecting codes. In this paper, the trellis codingsystem which combines a regular convolutional encoder,bit interleaver, coordinate interleaver, and anappropriate decoder is considered. The analytical biterror probability upper bounds are derived for the8-PSK TCM system whose diversity is increased by usinga regular 2/3 rate convolutional code followed bythree bit interleavers and a 8-PSK signal mapperfollowed by two coordinate interleavers. Theanalytical and simulation results show that toincrease the diversity of the trellis coded M-PSKsystems in Rayleigh fading channels is the primary keyfor reliable transmission of high quality voice anddigital data.  相似文献

Due to the typical large variability in the measured mechanical properties of flax fibres, they are often employed only in low grade composite applications. The present study aims to investigate the reasons for the variability in tensile properties of flax fibres. It is found that an inaccuracy in the determination of the cross-sectional area of the fibres is one major reason for the variability in properties. By applying a typical circular fibre area assumption, a considerable error is introduced into the calculated mechanical properties. Experimental data, together with a simple analytical model, are presented to show that the error is increased when the aspect ratio of the fibre cross-sectional shape is increased. A variability in properties due to the flax fibres themselves is found to originate from the distribution of defects along the fibres. Two distinctive types of stress–strain behaviours (linear and nonlinear) of the fibres are found to be correlated with the amount of defects. The linear stress–strain curves tend to show a higher tensile strength, a higher Young’s modulus, and a lower strain to failure than the nonlinear curves. Finally, the fibres are found to fracture by a complex microscale failure mechanism. Large fracture zones are governed by both surface and internal defects; and these cause cracks to propagate in the transverse and longitudinal directions.  相似文献

A promising line of research for radar systems attempts to optimize the detector thresholds so as to maximize the overall performance of a radar detector–tracker pair. In the present work, we attempt to move in a direction to fulfill this promise by considering a particular dynamic optimization scheme which relies on a non-simulation performance prediction (NSPP) methodology for the probabilistic data association filter (PDAF), namely, the modified Riccati equation (MRE). By using a suitable functional approximation, we propose a closed-form solution for the special case of a Neyman–Pearson (NP) detector. The proposed solution replaces previously proposed iterative solution formulations and results in dramatic improvement in computational complexity without sacrificed system performance. Moreover, it provides a theoretical lower bound on the detection signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) concerning when the whole tracking system should be switched to the track before detect (TBD) mode.  相似文献

Hybrid inorganic/organic nanocomposites were produced by the exposure of spun films of octa-(benzo-15-crown-5)-substituted phthalocyanine of Cd(II) to an environment of hydrogen sulfide gas. The formation of cadmium sulfide (CdS) quantum dots in the metal free phthalocyanine matrix was identified in the phthalocyanine matrix from atomic force microscopy images. The mean size of CdS quantum dots was estimated to be 2–3 nm, from optical absorption and Raman spectra for the nanocomposites.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to grade the intraoperative findings seen in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) based on severity, and compare it with clinical and electrodiagnostic severity.Thirty-one hands surgically treated for CTS were graded according to the severity of clinical signs, and electrodiagnostic tests. Oedema, vascularisation, and fibrosis were graded on a scale of 1–3. Pseudoneuroma or ‘hour-glass’ formation were graded as either 0 or 1. The hands were allocated by an observer into an assumptive severity group, from grade 1 to 3. Clinical severity and electrodiagnostic severity were statistically compared with each other, and with each intraoperative severity criteria.A high statistical correlation (p<0.01) was found between clinical severity and vascularisation, fibrosis, and the assumptive intraoperative severity. No correlation could be demonstrated between electrodiagnostic severity and the intraoperative criteria.Intraoperative grading should be regarded as a supportive measure to the clinical evaluation in order to obtain a sound base for surgical intervention and internal neurolysis.  相似文献

Background and Aims: Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 21 has recently been shown to play a potential role in bile acid metabolism. We aimed to investigate the FGF21 response in an ethanol-induced acute-on-chronic liver injury (ACLI) model in Abcb4−/− mice with deficiency of the hepatobiliary phospholipid transporter. Methods: Total RNA was extracted from wild-type (WT, C57BL/6J) and Abcb4/ (KO) mice, which were either fed a control diet (WT-Cont and KO-Cont groups; n = 28/group) or ethanol diet, followed by an acute ethanol binge (WT-EtOH and KO-EtOH groups; n = 28/group). A total of 58 human subjects were recruited into the study, including patients with alcohol-associated liver disease (AALD; n = 31) and healthy controls (n = 27). The hepatic and ileal expressions of genes involved in bile acid metabolism, plasma FGF levels, and bile acid and its precursors 7α- and 27-hydroxycholesterol (7α- and 27-OHC) concentrations were determined. Primary mouse hepatocytes were isolated for cell culture experiments. Results: Alcohol feeding significantly induced plasma FGF21 and decreased hepatic Cyp7a1 levels. Hepatic expression levels of Fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (Fgfr1), Fgfr4, Farnesoid X-activated receptor (Fxr), and Small heterodimer partner (Shp) and plasma FGF15/FGF19 levels did not differ with alcohol challenge. Exogenous FGF21 treatment suppressed Cyp7a1 in a dose-dependent manner in vitro. AALD patients showed markedly higher FGF21 and lower 7α-OHC plasma levels while FGF19 did not differ. Conclusions: The simultaneous upregulation of FGF21 and downregulation of Cyp7a1 expressions upon chronic plus binge alcohol feeding together with the invariant plasma FGF15 and hepatic Shp and Fxr levels suggest the presence of a direct regulatory mechanism of FGF21 on bile acid homeostasis through inhibition of CYP7A1 by an FGF15-independent pathway in this ACLI model. Lay Summary: Alcohol challenge results in the upregulation of FGF21 and repression of Cyp7a1 expressions while circulating FGF15 and hepatic Shp and Fxr levels remain constant both in healthy and pre-injured livers, suggesting the presence of an alternative FGF15-independent regulatory mechanism of FGF21 on bile acid homeostasis through the inhibition of Cyp7a1.  相似文献

A systematic study based on the self-consistent dynamical simulations is presented for the grain boundary thermal grooving problem by strictly following the irreversible thermodynamic theory of surfaces and interfaces with singularities [T. O. Ogurtani, J. Chem. Phys. 124, 144706 (2006)]. This approach furnishes us to have auto-control on the otherwise free-motion of the grain boundary triple junction without presuming any equilibrium dihedral (wetting) angles at the edges. The effects of physicochemical properties and the anisotropic surface diffusivity on the transient grooving behavior, which takes place at the early stage of the scenario, were considered. We analyzed the experimental thermal grooving data reported for tungsten in the literature, and compared them with the carried simulation results. This investigation showed that the observed changes in the dihedral angles are strictly connected to the transient behavior of the simulated global system, and manifest themselves at the early stage of the thermal grooving phenomenon.  相似文献

The effect of annealing temperature on selected characteristics of polycrystalline La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 films, which have been produced on quartz substrates, was investigated. X-Ray powder diffraction patterns showed that the phase formation started at 873 K and all the films had perovskite structure. By increasing the annealing temperature, the lattice parameters were decreased. Scanning electron microscope indicated that the film thicknesses were approximately 3 μm and the average grain size of the samples varied between 30–100, 50–110, 70–120, and 100–150 nm for films annealed at 873, 973, 1,073, and 1,173 K, respectively. All the films showed a paramagnetic–ferromagnetic (TC) and metal–insulator (TIM) phase transition. The TC indicated a small variation [from 131 K (S4) to 124 K (S1)] as a function of annealing temperature, whereas the TIM went down from 212 K (S4) to 110 K (S1), a strong decrease of 102 K. A colossal magneto resistance with magneto resistance ratios of 130, 139, 156, and 163% were observed near TC and at 6 T magnetic field.  相似文献
