In this paper, a troubleshooting technique is developed to provide a sequence of necessary actions during deodorizer unit failure in a palm oil refinery. This paper introduces a fuzzy expert system that incorporates the knowledge of experienced plant workers in dealing with the complex problems of the palm oil deodorizer. The presented methodology uses both qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data are collected from several interview sessions with the technical staff in a palm oil refinery. Quantitative data are gathered from various sources, such as control and monitoring systems. The qualitative data are analyzed to discover the possible pattern of faults in the deodorizer failure. This tool can diagnose possible faults and provide a sequence of necessary actions when deodorizer failure occurs. The obtained results show the developed deodorizer troubleshooting tool is useful to guide plant workers/operators in diagnosing the possible faults and abnormalities during the troubleshooting process, as well as to provide field training for inexperienced staff.  相似文献

This article aims to appraise the effect of microstructure comprising molecular weight distribution and chemical composition distribution on the mechanical properties of high-density polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE resins were synthesized using several titanium–magnesium-supported Ziegler–Natta catalysts in the industrial gas phase reactor under the same polymerization condition. Gel permeation chromatography and crystallization elution fractionation (CEF) were conducted on the resins to characterize the molecular weight and comonomer distribution. Crystallization, thermal and rheological behavior were evaluated following differential scanning calorimetry, polarization light microscopy, and rheometric mechanical spectrometry. The resins with higher soluble fraction in trichlorobenzene below 80°C (highly branched low molecular weight chains) exhibited longer crystallization time based on the crystallization kinetic obtained from the Avrami model. Rheological determination of the molecular weight between entanglements (Me) and the average lamella thickness based on the Gibbs–Thomson equation revealed that the entanglement density and impact strength decreased, and the average lamella thickness increased with an increase in the ratio of CEF eluted fraction below 80°C to the crystallizable fraction in the range of 80–90°C.  相似文献

This paper describes the development of a boundary model for the off-gas water vapour in an industrial steelmaking electric arc furnace (EAF). The solution addresses the mechanistic components of a complete EAF water detection framework. The boundary model has been implemented on an industrial alternating current (AC) EAF. The model specifies upper and lower limits in real-time of the expected EAF off-gas water vapour leaving the furnace, and it provides a valuable on-line monitoring tool to the operator on what boundary to expect for the off-gas water vapour in different circumstances. An essential data required for the framework is the EAF off-gas composition. So, in this work, an off-gas analyzer with a human machine interface (HMI) and a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system was installed in the first step. Then, in order to evaluate the developed water leak detection framework and verify the obtained results, industrial trials were designed in which a certain amount of water was intentionally added into the furnace by increasing the electrode spray water flow rate. Moreover, we have shown how the presented framework can be used to appropriately adjust the alarm setting values in control/emergency shutdown systems of industrial EAF to enhance the safety and availability of the plant.  相似文献

Many Iranian metropolises, including Shiraz, are situated in arid and semi-arid regions, lacking sufficient renewable water resources. In recent years, climate changes, including drought and rising temperatures, have led to changes in water supply and demand. Given the necessity and importance of urban water supply, this study investigates the impact of different climate scenarios on residential water demand. Many studies, in their models, do not consider the social interactions between household water consumers and the change in their consumption behaviour, which serves as a fundamental drawback. Thus, the present research attempts to propose an agent-based framework by modelling social interactions via the diffusion process to investigate water consumption behaviour efficiently. The model is calibrated and applied to Shiraz City in Iran, according to the data from 2006 to 2019, and it is used to simulate each scenario for the following years until 2032. The findings show that temperature has a positive and significant effect on residential water consumption; yet, rainfall negatively affects water consumption. The simulation results of these scenarios for temperature increase or decrease and rainfall changes are estimated. In addition, the developed agent-based platform can be easily calibrated and adjusted based on the data of any other city to simulate water demand estimation under different climatic and even economic scenarios. Urban water managers can benefit from such estimates to plan future infrastructure development and proactive management of seasonal water resources under the growing pressure of potential climate change because construing the sensitivity of seasonal water consumption to climate conditions is essential to respond to variations in demand.  相似文献

Soluble N‐functionalized basic and cationic polysaccharides have been synthesized using polysaccharide phenyl carbonate as a precursor. The products and intermediates were thoroughly characterized by conventional methods. The quaternization of amino intermediates in various conditions was studied. Moreover, the potential of basic polymers as green and selective catalysts in Knoevenagel reaction was investigated. In all cases, only one isomer was obtained.  相似文献

This paper presents applications of a new class of fibre optic acoustic emission (FOAE) sensor to monitor the operation of fluidized bed reactors used in polyethylene production. Specifically, the sensor was implemented to detect undesired, abnormal phenomena related to particle agglomeration, wall sheeting, fine overflow, and variations in the superficial gas velocity. The experiments were executed using a fluidized bed cold model setup for polyethylene powders with average particle sizes of 250, 1000, and 2000 μm. The results demonstrated that the presence of agglomerated particles in the fluidized bed reactor increases the kurtosis of the acoustic emission (AE) signal. Furthermore, the overflow of small particles can be detected by mounting the FOAE sensor below the gas distributor plate and monitoring an increase in the root mean square (RMS) of the AE signal. The AE signal RMS increased with the rising superficial gas velocity. Besides, forming a sheet layer on the reactor wall decreased the AE signal RMS. The proposed sensor's main benefits are its simple design, rapid response to abnormal conditions in the fluidized bed reactor, immunity against electromagnetic noise, high-temperature resistance, and safety in hazardous areas.  相似文献

The present framework proposed the development of a Hybrid Rubber-Concrete Isolation Slab System (HRCISS) to support building structures subjected to horizontal and vertical vibration due to ground motion and machine or equipment operation in the structure. Given that the effect of the shape factor on both horizontal and vertical stiffness has yet to be reported, the proposed composite system was comprised of two layers under the nodal points of the upper layer near the slab corners with four High Damping Rubber (HDR) components positioned between the slab layers to dissipate multidirectional (horizontal and vertical directions) vibrations. The ABAQUS software was utilized to model the finite element model (FEM) and simulate the HRCISS subjected to cyclic horizontal and vertical displacements. For the optimal HDR design, the model was applied in five 3-story buildings, and the effect of distinct shape factors (0 < S < 2) of the HDR bearings—the ratio of bearing's loaded area to unloaded area (free to bulge)—within the hybrid system was evaluated. For each building with a specific HDR shape factor, the HRCISS was installed in the first, second, and third stories, separately, to investigate the influence of the installation level of the isolation system on the overall structural performance. The multistory buildings were subjected to two types of vibration loads: the interior machine-induced vibrations, and the exterior seismic-induced vibrations in the horizontal and vertical directions. Based on the results, the FEM results proved the significant influence of the shape factors on the dynamic response of the HRCISS under both interior and exterior 3D vibrations when applied in multistory buildings. The lateral drift of the three-story one-bay buildings decreased with the decrement of shape factor with buildings of HRCISS installed in 1st story recording more reduction. Moreover, the deflection in the structural slab under the HRCISS decreased for lower shape factor bearings. Nevertheless, the reduced deflection was less affected by the level of the machine-equipped story. The rubber layer also stiffened in shear and compression directions with a higher shape factor.  相似文献
