In this paper, a method has been proposed to analyze the planar architectures of serial and parallel manipulators, based on the duality associated with their interconnected kinematics. The interconnected kinematics states that model of one architecture can be derived from the kinematic model of the other, using screw theory approach. The performance of the initial and the derived manipulators was evaluated with three criteria: isotropy, maximum force transmission ratio and local transmission index. Without loss of generality, the serial manipulator derived from parallel has better isotropy, while the parallel manipulator derived from serial can be designed to have better force and power transmission.

At the coastline of the Carey Island, mangroves provide natural protection against the wind-driven coastal waves. The area is located at the west Malaysia within the waters of the Straits of Malacca. Recently, its coastline has been exposed to increasing rates of coastal erosion due to mangrove deforestation. In order to provide mitigating measures, it is necessary to study wave characteristics in this region. For this purpose, we collected 5 years (2009 to 2013) of hourly measurements for wind direction, wave height, wind speed and wave period. Moreover, we used the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to estimate the wave period and height. The model was trained using the measured data. The validation of the model gave satisfactory R2 values of 0.8484 and 0.9496 for wave height and wave period, respectively. The findings from this study suggest that fuzzy logic based technique satisfactorily predicts the differences between multiple inputs and single output in terms of non-linear relationship. The developed model can be used to further study the effect of non-linear wind-driven waves on the depleting coastal mangrove forests in similar tropical and sub-tropical areas. We suggest further research to test the model in different geographical locations, such as in deep-ocean, narrow straits and other coastal sites, which were not covered in this study.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel technique to reduce the crest factor (CF) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems. It consists of two inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) blocks, the input symbols of the first IFFT are the mapped symbols, whereas the input symbols of the second IFFT are the summations of the absolute value of the real part of the outer signal constellation points and zero symbols. First, the output of the two IFFT blocks is partitioned into four subblocks, which are subsequently used to rearrange the subblocks with padding zeros in a specific manner. Then, a new optimization scheme is introduced, in which only a single two-phase sequence and four iterations need to be applied. Numerical analysis shows that the proposed hybrid technique achieves better CF reduction performance with significantly lower complexity and better bit error rate performance than the existing scrambling (multiplicative) and additive CF techniques.  相似文献

Multicast IPv6 is an efficient way of transmitting data simultaneously to a group of IPv6 users. It has the advantage of reducing the required bandwidth of IPv6 data delivery compared to unicast transmission. The data rate of multicast transmission over WLAN is confined by the user with the lowest rate in the multicast group, which is called the fixed base rate problem. This paper proposes a delivery method that incorporates both multicast and unicast transmissions to solve the fixed base rate problem. The proposed method divides the IPv6 network into two levels: multicast mode for the upper level of the network [IPv6 server to Access Point (AP)], and unicast mode for the lower level (AP to mobile nodes). To maintain the end-to-end multicast transmission, the AP is responsible for converting multicast packets to unicast packets. Such a combination enables the proposed method to inherit the advantages of both multicast and unicast transmissions. The performance of our proposed method is evaluated in a test-bed environment that considers the transmission of real-time video application. The proposed multicast-unicast is able to improve the throughput and video quality experienced by the end user, with low packet loss and transmission delay.  相似文献

The study aims to produce a design guide for the calculations of stresses and deflections of adhesively bonded beams fabricated from steel adherends using a structural epoxy adhesive. Such design calculations already exist for welded but not for bonded beams. Small models based on beams with a T-section profile, at various beam lengths, are formulated. A key to these calculations is the determination of the adhesive/adherend interface factors/coefficients, to correct the estimated values of stress and deflection from three-point bending conditions. This article presents the methodology for evaluating bonded beams in relation to equivalent welded (solid) beams. This includes mechanical testing, an analytical method based on beam and sandwich theory, and finite element techniques. Results from these techniques are presented and compared and values of the coefficients for T-section beams are determined.  相似文献

Development effort is one of the most important metrics that must be estimated in order to design the plan of a project. The uncertainty and complexity of software projects make the process of effort estimation difficult and ambiguous. Analogy-based estimation (ABE) is the most common method in this area because it is quite straightforward and practical, relying on comparison between new projects and completed projects to estimate the development effort. Despite many advantages, ABE is unable to produce accurate estimates when the importance level of project features is not the same or the relationship among features is difficult to determine. In such situations, efficient feature weighting can be a solution to improve the performance of ABE. This paper proposes a hybrid estimation model based on a combination of a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and ABE to increase the accuracy of software development effort estimation. This combination leads to accurate identification of projects that are similar, based on optimizing the performance of the similarity function in ABE. A framework is presented in which the appropriate weights are allocated to project features so that the most accurate estimates are achieved. The suggested model is flexible enough to be used in different datasets including categorical and non-categorical project features. Three real data sets are employed to evaluate the proposed model, and the results are compared with other estimation models. The promising results show that a combination of PSO and ABE could significantly improve the performance of existing estimation models.  相似文献

This study investigates the effect of degree of crystallinity (DC) of silica on the CTE value of epoxy filled silica composite. Various DC of silica was produced through high intensity grinding process in a jet mill by varying the grinding pressure. The ground silica with the DC ranging from 76% to 100% was filled at 45% volume and the CTE values were measured. The obtained results showed that CTE of composite was reduced as the filler's degree of crystallinity decreased.  相似文献

A new model for predicting water content of natural gas in equilibrium with water is obtained. This formula is a function of pressure and temperature and is applied within a wide range of temperatures and pressures. A HPLC with gradient elution method for the determination of the synthetic phenolic antioxidants (SPAs) propyl gallate (PG), tertiary butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in food items is described. A C18 column served as the stationary phase; the gradient elution was formed by acetonitrile and water:acetic acid (1%). The UV detector was set at 280 nm. Under the recommended conditions, separation of the four SPAs was achieved in less than 8 min. Analytical characteristics of the HPLC method such as limit of detection, linear range, and reproducibility were evaluated. Extraction parameters were optimized for the recoveries of the SPAs in different types of food items (cooking oil, margarine and butter, and cheese). Before the HPLC separation, the SPAs were extracted with methanol/acetonitrile (1:1, v/v) and were subjected to vortex/ultrasonic treatment. The extracts were next kept in a freezer (∼2 h) to precipitate co-extracted components. Recoveries of the SPAs when spiked to cooking oil, margarine, butter and cheese at 50 and 200 mg l−1 were in the ranges 93.3–108.3% for PG, 85.3–108.3% for TBHQ, 96.7–101.2% for BHA and 73.9–94.6% for BHT. The method was applied to the determination of SPAs in 38 food items (16 cooking oils, ten margarine, six butter and six cheese samples). The levels of SPAs in positive samples are all below the legal limits of Malaysia.  相似文献

The passive safety systems utilized in advanced pressurized water reactor (PWR) design such as AP1000 should be more reliable than that of active safety systems of conventional PWR by less possible opportunities of hardware failures and human errors (less human intervention). The objectives of present study are to evaluate the dynamic reliability of AP1000 plant in order to check the effectiveness of passive safety systems by comparing the reliability-related issues with that of active safety systems in the event of the big accidents. How should the dynamic reliability of passive safety systems properly evaluated? And then what will be the comparison of reliability results of AP1000 passive safety systems with the active safety systems of conventional PWR.

For this purpose, a single loop model of AP1000 passive core cooling system (PXS) and passive containment cooling system (PCCS) are assumed separately for quantitative reliability evaluation. The transient behaviors of these passive safety systems are taken under the large break loss-of-coolant accident in the cold leg. The analysis is made by utilizing the qualitative method failure mode and effect analysis in order to identify the potential failure mode and success-oriented reliability analysis tool called GO-FLOW for quantitative reliability evaluation. The GO-FLOW analysis has been conducted separately for PXS and PCCS systems under the same accident. The analysis results show that reliability of AP1000 passive safety systems (PXS and PCCS) is increased due to redundancies and diversity of passive safety subsystems and components, and four stages automatic depressurization system is the key subsystem for successful actuation of PXS and PCCS system. The reliability results of PCCS system of AP1000 are more reliable than that of the containment spray system of conventional PWR. And also GO-FLOW method can be utilized for reliability evaluation of passive safety systems.  相似文献
