We evaluate the use of a smoothed space-frequency distribution (SSFD) to retrieve optical phase maps in digital speckle pattern interferometry (DSPI). The performance of this method is tested by use of computer-simulated DSPI fringes. Phase gradients are found along a pixel path from a single DSPI image, and the phase map is finally determined by integration. This technique does not need the application of a phase unwrapping algorithm or the introduction of carrier fringes in the interferometer. It is shown that a Wigner-Ville distribution with a smoothing Gaussian kernel gives more-accurate results than methods based on the continuous wavelet transform. We also discuss the influence of filtering on smoothing of the DSPI fringes and some additional limitations that emerge when this technique is applied. The performance of the SSFD method for processing experimental data is then illustrated.  相似文献

A simplified dynamic model for fuel cells is developed, based on the concept of instantaneous characteristic, which is the set of values of current and voltage that a fuel cell can reach instantaneously. This is used to derive a theorem that indicates the conditions under which the power output of fuel cells can, in theory, be perfectly controlled. A fuel cell connected to a DC/DC converter is simulated numerically, with a control system based on switching rules in order to control the converter’s output voltage. The resulting transients settle in about 5–10 ms. The converter is then used as an actuator in a cascade control loop to control the torque output of a DC electric motor with a PI controller in the external loop. In this loop, the resulting in transients settle in less than 0.2 s.  相似文献

In open societies of agents, where agents are autonomous and heterogeneous, it is not realistic to assume that agents will always act so as to comply with interaction protocols. Thus, the need arises for a formalism to specify constraints on agent interaction, and for a tool able to observe and check for agent compliance with interaction protocols. In this paper we present a JAVA-PROLOG software component built on logic programming technology, which can be used to verify compliance of agent interaction to protocols, and that has been integrated with the PROSOCS platform.  相似文献

Reliability of water distribution networks (WDNs) has received much attention in recent years due to progressive aging of infrastructures and climate change. Several reliability indicators, focusing on hydraulic aspects rather than water quality, have been proposed in literature. Reliability is generally assessed resorting to well established methods coupling hydraulic simulations and stochastic techniques that describe the WDNs hydraulic performance and component availability respectively. Two main algorithms are employed to simulate WDNs: the demand driven approach (DDA) that disregards the physical relationship between actual water demand and nodal pressure, and the pressure driven approach (PDA) that explicitly incorporates it. In this paper, we show how the choice of hydraulic solver may affect reliability indicators. We modify existing quantitative indicators at nodal and network level, and define novel indicators to consider water quality aspects. These indicators are evaluated for three example WDNs; discrepancies between results obtained with the two approaches depend on network size, feeding scheme and skeletonization. Results suggest to use with caution the DDA for reliability assessment at both local and global level.  相似文献

Theorems of alternatives on the feasibility of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are used in order to provide novel simple proofs for two considered versions of the Kalman–Yakubovich–Popov (KYP) lemma for discrete-time positive linear systems. Two different and novel recursive methods, to determine whether a positive matrix is or is not Schur, are obtained as an application of an existing connection between the strict inequality version of the KYP lemma for single-input single-output (SISO) discrete-time positive linear systems and a Schur matrix condition. One of the most important quality-of-service parameters in a multimedia environment is skew, defined as the difference between the delays suffered by the monomedia flows belonging to the same multimedia stream. An analytical paradigm is proposed to evaluate the skew affecting a multimedia traffic stream in an asynchronous transfer mode multiplexer. For this purpose, the emission process of each multimedia source loading the multiplexer is defined as the superposition of heterogeneous correlated emission processes, each of which models one monomedia source as a switched batch Bernoulli process (SBBP). In order to model the intermedia relationships, the transition probabilities in the Markov chain underlying each SBBP are functions of the state of the other monomedia sources. The model is applied to a case study and the dependence of skew performance on some of the source characteristics, such as intermedia correlation, and some of the environment characteristics, such as buffer size, output capacity, and buffer utilization is analyzed and discussed  相似文献

The technique of Hotspot Mapping is widely used in analysing the spatial characteristics of crimes. The spatial distribution of crime is considered to be related with a variety of socio-economic and crime opportunity factors. But existing methods usually focus on the target crime density as input without utilizing these related factors. In this study, we introduce a new crime hotspot mapping tool—Hotspot Optimization Tool (HOT). HOT is an application of spatial data miming to the field of hotspot mapping. The key component of HOT is the Geospatial Discriminative Patterns (GDPatterns) concept, which can capture the differences between two classes in a spatial dataset. Experiments are done using a real world dataset from a northeastern city in the United States and the pros and cons of utilizing related factors in hotspot mapping are discussed. Comparison studies with the Hot Spot Analysis tool implemented by Esri ArcMap 10.1 validate that HOT is capable of accurately mapping crime hotspots.  相似文献

Novelty is a key concept to understand creativity. Evaluating a piece of artwork or other creation in terms of novelty requires comparisons to other works and considerations about the elements that have been reused in the creative process. Human beings perform this analysis intuitively, but in order to simulate it using computers, the objects to be compared and the similarity metrics to be used should be formalized and explicitly implemented. In this paper we present a study on relevant elements for the assessment of novelty in computer-generated narratives. We focus on the domain of folk-tales, working with simple plots and basic narrative elements: events, characters, props and scenarios. Based on the empirical results of this study we propose a set of computational metrics for the automatic assessment of novelty. Although oriented to the implementation of our own story generation system, the measurement methodology we propose can be easily generalized to other creative systems.  相似文献

A mathematical model earlier proposed has been improved to predict the kinetics of multicomponent reactions in the hot metal pretreatment through the injection of reactive fluxes. It is assumed that there are two reaction zones along the flux injection operation: a transitory reaction between the rising particles and the bulk metal, and the permanent reaction between the metal and the top slag. A criterion to estimate the fraction of solids which will react with molten iron in a three‐phase jet (gas‐solid‐liquid) was considered; this fraction of solids carries out the transitory reaction. The model also takes into account the thermodynamic changes produced in the metal and slag due to the chemical reactions. Calculated results of the model are in good agreement with experimental results for the desulfurization of hot metal through the injection of CaO‐SiO2‐CaF2‐FeO‐Na2O reagents at 1400 ‐ 1450 °C. Two kinds of hot metal were tested, one with a low carbon mass content of 3 % and the other with a high carbon mass content of 4.5 %.  相似文献
