This article presents the first results of our study and experimentation with the new IPv6 IX-based address assignment model and its deployment in IXs where peering is organized around route servers. An IX model that identifies where the new IX customers can be located and how services like provider choice or multihoming can be offered is proposed. The article also describes the emulation environment that has been developed to easily create and experiment with complex IX scenarios without involving setup of costly configurations made of several pieces of equipment. This work has been carried out in the context of the European Union funded project Euro6IX.  相似文献

Climate change information required for impact studies is of a much finer spatial scale than climate models can directly provide. Statistical downscaling models (SDMs) are commonly used to fill this scale gap. SDMs are based on the view that the regional climate is conditioned by two factors: (1) the large-scale climatic state and (2) local physiographic features. An SDM based on an analogue approach has been developed within the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and applied to six regions covering the southern half of Australia. Six surface predictands (daily minimum and maximum temperature and dew-point temperature, daily total rainfall and pan evaporation) were modelled. The skill of the SDMs is evaluated by comparing reconstructed and observed series using a range of metrics: first two moments of the series, the ability to reproduce day-to-day and inter-annual variability, and long-term trends. Once optimised, the SDMs are applied to a selection of global climate models which contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 4th assessment report released in 2007. A user-friendly graphical interface has been developed to facilitate dissemination of the SDM results and provides a range of options for users to obtain tailored information. Once the projections are calculated for the places of interest, graphical outputs are displayed and can be downloaded jointly with the underlying data, allowing the user to use the data in their own application.  相似文献

Activated protein C (APC) is a naturally occurring anticoagulant that interacts with factor V and VIII to inhibit the clotting cascade. The prevalence of APC resistance among Korean patients with deep vein thrombosis is ill defined. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of APC resistance and factor V Leiden mutation in Korean patients with deep vein thrombosis. The presence of factor V Leiden mutation was determined in 49 patients who visited Asan Medical Center. APC ratio was performed in 33 individuals from the above 49 patients. Three patients were excluded from the analysis because their baseline aPTT was prolonged. Resistance to APC was diagnosed when the APC ratio was below 2.55. APC resistance was documented in 8 individuals, representing 27% (8/30) of the patients on whom APC resistance test was performed. The 2 patients, who showed APC resistance, were positive for lupus anticoagulant. None of the 49 patients demonstrated factor V Leiden mutation. These findings indicate that factor V Leiden mutation is rare and APC resistance is less prevalent in Korean patients with deep vein thrombosis than in Caucasians. APC resistance not caused by factor V Leiden mutation may be a risk factor for deep vein thrombosis in this population.  相似文献

It is quite common for computer‐controlled displays to emit light in image areas set to digital values of zero, referred to as their black level. This is expected for liquid–crystal displays and also can occur for cathode‐ray tube displays when the “brightness” (gun‐amplifier offset) is set excessively high. For either display, the light emission at the black level results in color channels whose chromaticities vary with luminance level. Consequently, typical methods of colorimetric characterization result in large error. When this black‐level emission is measured and accounted for suitably, characterization accuracy is dramatically improved. Unfortunately, many instruments used to measure displays have too low a sensitivity to measure black‐level emission with sufficient precision and accuracy. A method of estimating black‐level emissions was derived and tested. Because the optimal black‐level results in channel chromaticities that are invariant to the greatest extent with luminance level, an objective function was defined as the sum of chromaticity variances of each channel over a range of measurements. Minimizing this objective function resulted is an estimate of a display's black level. The estimated black level resulted in equivalent or superior performance to direct measurements. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper describes laboratory investigations of the motion between two fixed volumes of dense fluid (surge-type gravity currents) with different salt concentrations that interact above an incline in the presence of ambient stratification. The experiments include both large and small density contrasts between the interacting surges. Initially, the propagation of each fluid mass assumes a thermal-like nature, but then the lower density surge is quickly caught up by the denser fluid flow because of its higher velocity. There are two key process regarding the surge interaction. With a large density contrasting the fluid volumes, the denser flow moves to the front of the current as an intrusion with no mixing. With a small density difference, pronounced mixing occurs between the surges with the development of a homogeneous underflow. A simple energy parameterization is developed to evaluate the source conditions under which the different flow dynamics develop.  相似文献

In this work we develop some reflections on the thresholding algorithm proposed by Tizhoosh in [16]. The purpose of these reflections is to complete the considerations published recently in [17] and [18] on said algorithm. We also prove that under certain constructions, Tizhoosh's algorithm makes it possible to obtain additional information from commonly used fuzzy algorithms.  相似文献

The main aim of this study was to assess perceptions of and satisfaction with retirement among 1,686 recently retired people from 6 European Union countries. The authors compared their responses to a set of questions taken from the Retirement Satisfaction Inventory (F. J. Floyd et al., 1992). The first significant result was that Belgian, British, Finnish, French, and Spanish retirees all expressed very similar assessments of life satisfaction, whereas Portuguese retirees expressed a lower level of satisfaction. The 2nd result was that the major determinants of overall satisfaction in the 6 countries were (a) health and resources and (b) anticipated satisfaction. Finally, the data revealed that cultural background only accounted for a limited amount of variance in overall satisfaction with retirement. The Transverse Transmission Line method is used for the characterization of bilateral and unilateral finlines on a semiconductor substrate and in conjunction with the modal method, for the calculation of the scattering parameters due to a step discontinuity on a unilateral finline with a lossless dielectric substrate. Numerical results of the effective dielectric constant, attenuation constant and characteristic impedance for the bilateral and unilateral finlines on semiconductor substrates, and results of scattering parameters of a step discontinuity for unilateral finline, are presented.  相似文献

Several indices of ventilatory heterogeneity can be identified from the expiratory CO2 partial pressure or CO2 elimination versus volume curves. The aims of this study were: 1) to analyse several computerizable indices of volumetric capnography in order to detect ventilatory disturbances; and 2) to establish the relationship between those indices and respiratory system mechanics in subjects with normal lungs and in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), both receiving mechanical ventilation. We studied six normal subjects and five patients with early ARDS mechanically ventilated at three levels of tidal volume (VT). Respiratory system mechanics were assessed by end-expiratory and end-inspiratory occlusion methods, respectively. We determined Phase III slopes, Fletcher's efficiency index, Bohr's dead space (VD,Bohr/VT), and the ratio of alveolar ejection volume to tidal volume (VAE/VT) from expiratory capnograms, as a function of expired volume. Differences between normal subjects and ARDS patients were significant both for capnographic and mechanical parameters. Changes in VT significantly altered capnographic indices in normal subjects, but failed to change ventilatory mechanics and VAE/VT in ARDS patients. After adjusting for breathing pattern, VAE/VT exhibited the best correlation with the mechanical parameters. In conclusion, volumetric capnography, and, specifically, the ratio of alveolar ejection volume to tidal volume allows evaluation and monitoring of ventilatory disturbances in patients with adult respiratory distress syndrome.  相似文献
