Elastic-plastic properties, namely, hardness and Young’s modulus, of four HVOF-sprayed hardmetal coatings were measured by instrumented indentation using Oliver-Pharr method Nanoindenter XP MTS with a continuous stiffness measurement (CSM) module. The results show that with sufficient number of CSM measurements, one can distinguish between indents made in the hard particles and indents made in the binder material. This can be accomplished by analyzing the plots of hardness and Young’s modulus versus load (or versus indentation depth). Further development of the dependence curves enables the load (or indentation depth) to be set to correspond to the point of transition from a single structure component to the composite material and to determine the properties of both. Comparison of results of CSM measurement with the results of single indentation measurement at a defined load reveals a new perspective on the origin of the indentation size effect in hardmetal coatings. The measurements show that the increase in both the hardness and Young’s modulus with decreasing load is caused mainly by the predominant influence of hard particles in the coatings.  相似文献

We present a novel way of enhancing the utility of low cost readily available laterite by impregnating it with the α-MnO2 nanorods, thus making a composite material suitable for the removal of As(V) from aqueous media. The composites were synthesized by two methods: (i) ball-milling of a physical blend of laterite with pre-synthesized MnO2; and (ii) in situ formation of MnO2 in the presence of laterite. The BET surface area of composites prepared by both methods was markedly higher compared to un-modified laterite, and the presence of MnO2 in the composite was also confirmed by XRD analysis and TEM microscopy. The adsorption capacity for As(V) was found to be highly pH dependent and the adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo second-order kinetic model. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm was found to be the best model to describe the adsorption equilibrium of As(V) onto un-modified laterite as well both ball-milled and in situ formed composite. The adsorption capacities at room temperature and pH 7.0 were found to be 1.50 mg g?1, 8.93 mg g?1 and 9.70 mg g?1, for un-modified laterite, ball-milled and in situ formed composite, respectively.  相似文献

Conventionally cast Mg–5Y–4Rare Earth–0.5Zr alloy (WE54) was solution treated (525 °C/8 h — T4) and one part subsequently aged (200 °C/16 h — T6). Powder from the cast WE54 alloy prepared by gas atomizing was consolidated by extrusion at 250 °C or 400 °C. Dense triangular arrangement of prismatic plates of transient D019 and C-base centered orthorhombic phases precipitated in the α-Mg matrix during the T6 treatment. Both alloys prepared by powder metallurgy exhibit similar microstructure consisting of ~ 4–6 μm α-Mg matrix fibers surrounded by particles of the equilibrium Mg5(Y, Nd) phase and of oxides. Open circuit potential and polarization resistance in the isotonic saline (9 g/l NaCl/H2O) were monitored for 24 h. The corrosion rate of the T4 and T6 treated alloys was about 80 times lower than that of commercial Mg. Both alloys prepared by powder metallurgy exhibited approximately 8 times higher corrosion resistance than commercial Mg. The human MG-63 osteoblast-like cells spreading and division in the extracts (0.28 g in 28 ml of EMEM) of all 4 alloys were monitored by cinemicrography for 24 h. The MG-63 cells proliferate without cytotoxicity in all extracts.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to observe the influence of different hydrocolloids on changes in the rheological properties of processed cheese and their analogues within the process of cooling depending on the type of the fat used (butter, coconut fat and palm oil). κ‐carrageenan, ι‐carrageenan, λ‐carrageenan, arabic gum and locust bean gum were used at a concentration of 1.0% w/w. With the decreasing temperature during the cooling period, an increase in the complex modulus (G*) was observed in all samples tested. Within the cooling period, the sample with the addition of κ‐carrageenan showed both the most significant increase in G* in comparison with the control and the highest values of hardness after a 7‐day storage period regardless of the type of the fat used. The samples with coconut fat were assessed as the hardest. On the other hand, the samples with palm oil showed the lowest hardness (with the same hydrocolloid used). In the gelling hydrocolloids (κ‐ and ι‐carrageenan), only small changes in temperature of coil‐to‐helix transition were observed (in range of 2–7 °C) as a result of the addition of different types of fat.  相似文献

The structural order of kaolinite is an important factor that shows a substantial effect on the processes which take place during the thermal treatment of kaolin. The influence of structural order on the dehydroxylation process was investigated by simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA). The thermal analysis was performed on the samples with gradually decreasing structural order prepared by milling procedure. The apparent activation energy of dehydroxylation process decreases with decreasing structural order according to the exponential function. The extrapolation of experimental data leads to the estimation of apparent activation energy of 76.6 kJ mol?1 and of frequency factor of 0.12 × 104 s?1 related to completely disordered form of kaolinite, while the ordered form shows the apparent activation energy of 216.17 kJ mol?1 and the frequency factor of 9.26 × 104 s?1. The relationships between features such as the infrared pattern of treated material, the degree of structural order and the apparent activation energy were established.  相似文献

WC–Co cemented carbide has been investigated using instrumented indentation with maximum applied loads from 0.1 to 10 mN. The hardness and indentation modulus of individual phases and the influence of crystallographic orientation of WC on the hardness and indentation modulus have been studied. The hardness of the Co binder was approximately 10 GPa and that of WC grains up to 50 GPa with relatively large scatter under the indentation load of 1 mN. Investigation of the role of crystallographic orientation of WC grains on hardness at 10 mN load revealed average values of HITbasal = 40.4 GPa (EITbasal = 674 GPa) and HITprismatic = 32.8 GPa (EItprismatic = 542 GPa), respectively. The scatter in the measured values at low indentation loads is caused by the effects of surface and sub-surface characteristics (residual stress, damaged region) and at higher loads by “mix-phase” volume below the indenter.  相似文献

Volumetric mass transfer coefficient, power input, and gas holdup are key parameters in the design of mechanically agitated gas‐liquid contactors. Although the majority of industrial batches are of higher viscosity, reliable transport characteristics correlations for viscous batches are lacking in literature. These correlations are often based on the power input as the scale of energy dissipation. In order to develop reliable power input correlations, its measurements were carried out in a pilot‐plant vessel using multiple impellers of various types and diameters. Power input correlation shapes providing the best match with the comprehensive database are also expected to predict most precisely the impeller power in industrial‐scale vessels.  相似文献

Photodissociation action spectroscopy has made a great progress in expanding investigations of gas-phase ion structures. This review deals with aspects of gas-phase ion electronic excitations that result in wavelength-dependent dissociation and light emission via fluorescence, chiefly covering the ultraviolet and visible regions of the spectrum. The principles are briefly outlined and a few examples of instrumentation are presented. The main thrust of the review is to collect and selectively present applications of UV-vis action spectroscopy to studies of stable gas-phase ion structures and combinations of spectroscopy with ion mobility, collision-induced dissociation, and ion–ion reactions leading to the generation of reactive intermediates and electronic energy transfer.  相似文献

The effects of age, vegetation density (normalised difference vegetation index [NDVI]) and vegetation type on temperature fluctuations were studied in post-coal-mining sites in the Czech Republic. NDVI and surface temperature were obtained from an airborne multispectral aerial photograph and FLIR infrared camera. The difference between morning and afternoon temperature was assumed as a measure of the temperature buffering ability of the ecosystem. Buffering increased with increasing NDVI but also depended on the type of vegetation, reclaimed sites have significantly higher buffering than unreclaimed sites. In contrary to grasslands, woody vegetation gradually increased temperature buffering capacity with plot age. Topsoil application substantially increased buffering capacity.  相似文献
