Thin films of LaAlO3 were deposited on TiO2-terminated (100) SrTiO3 crystals by atomic layer deposition (ALD), using tris(iso-propylcyclopentadienyl)lanthanum and trimethyl aluminum precursors. Water was used as the oxidizer. The film composition was shown to be controlled by the ratio of La/Al precursor pulses during ALD, with near-stoichiometric LaAlO3 resulting at precursor pulse ratios of 4/1 to 5/1. Films near the stoichiometric LaAlO3 composition were shown to crystallize on subsequent annealing to form epitaxial LaAlO3/SrTiO3 heterostructures. Electrical characterization of these structures was done by two-terminal direct-current (DC) current–voltage scans at room temperature and under high-vacuum conditions. The results show electrical conductivity for the ALD-deposited epitaxial LaAlO3/SrTiO3 heterostructures, which turns on for thickness above four unit cells for the LaAlO3 film.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect exerted by the relative content of κ-casein (κ-CN) B in bulk milk κ-CN on coagulation properties and cheese yield of 3 Italian cheese varieties (Montasio, Asiago, and Caciotta). Twenty-four cheese-making experiments were carried out in 2 industrial and 1 small-scale dairy plant. Detailed protein composition of bulk milk of 380 herds providing milk to these dairies was analyzed by reversed-phase HPLC. To obtain 2 experimental milks differing in the relative content of κ-CN B in κ-CN, herds were selected on the basis of bulk milk protein composition and relative content of κ-CN genetic variants. Milk was collected and processed separately for the 2 groups of selected herds. A difference of 20% in the relative content of κ-CN B in κ-CN was obtained for the 2 experimental milks for Montasio and a difference of 15% for Asiago and Caciotta. The 2 experimental milks were of similar protein and CN content, casein number, pH, CN composition, and β-CN genetic composition. For each cheese-making trial, amounts of milk, ranging from 2,000 to 6,000 kg, were manufactured. Each vat contained milk collected at least from 4 dairy herds. Cheese yield after brining and at the end of the aging was recorded. Milk with a greater proportion of κ-CN B in κ-CN (HIGHB) exhibited similar coagulation properties and greater cheese yield compared with milk with a lower proportion of κ-CN B in κ-CN (LOWB). The increased cheese yield observed for HIGHB when manufacturing Montasio cheese was ascribed to a greater fat content compared with LOWB. The probability of HIGHB giving a cheese yield 5% greater than that of LOWB ranged from 51 to 67% for Montasio cheese, but was less than 21% for Asiago and Caciotta cheeses. Variation in relative content of κ-CN B in κ-CN content did not relevantly affect industrial cheese yield when milks of similar CN composition were processed. An indirect effect due to the increased κ-CN content of κ-CN B milk is thought to explain the favorable effects of κ-CN B on cheese yield reported in the literature.  相似文献

Objective: Although active diabetes self-management is required to achieve glycemic control, adherence is poor among ethnic minorities, especially Latinos. Research shows that individuals who report greater social-environmental support resources for disease management manage their diabetes more effectively than those with fewer support resources. Methods: Path analysis was conducted to investigate the value of a multiple-mediator model in explaining how support resources for disease management influence hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels in a sample of 208 Latinos with Type 2 diabetes recruited from low-income serving community clinics in San Diego County. We hypothesized that the relationship between support resources for disease-management and HbA1c would be mediated by diabetes self-management and/or depression. The production of furfural from the C5 monosaccharides xylose, arabinose and ribose, as well as from real biomass (corn fiber), was studied using H-Beta zeolite as catalyst in a monophasic system with the biomass-derived solvent, gamma-valerolactone. Due to the combination of Brønsted and Lewis acid sites on this catalyst (Brønsted:Lewis ratio = 1.66), H-Beta acts as a bifunctional catalyst, being able to isomerize (Lewis acid) and dehydrate (Brønsted acid) monosaccharides. The combination of Lewis and Brønsted acid functionality of H-Beta was shown to be effective for the isomerization of xylose and arabinose, followed by dehydration. While no advantages were found in the conversion of xylose, higher furfural yields were achieved from arabinose, using H-Beta, 73 %, compared to sulfuric acid (44 %) and Mordenite (49 %). The furfural yields from corn fiber for H-Beta, H-Mordenite and sulfuric acid were 62, 44, and 55 %, respectively, showing that H-Beta is particularly effective for conversion of this biomass feedstock composed of 45 wt% hemicellulose, of which 66 % is xylose and 33 % arabinose.  相似文献

In this work microstructure, porosity and hydration degree of cement-based solidified/stabilized wasteforms were studied before assessing their leaching behaviour. 2-Chloroaniline was chosen as a model liquid organic pollutant and included into cement pastes, which were also modified with different admixtures for concrete: a superplasticizer based on acrylic-modified polymer, a synthetic rubber latex and a waterproofing agent. An organoclay, modified with an ammonium quaternary salt (benzyl-dimethyl-tallowammonium, BDMTA), was added to the pastes as pre-sorbent agent of the organic matter. All the samples were dried up to constant weight in order to stop the hydration process at different times during the first 28 days of curing, typically, after 1 day (1d), 7 days (7d) and 28 days. Then, the microstructure of the hardened cement-clay pastes was investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). The hydration degree and porosity were studied by thermal analysis (TG/DTA) and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), respectively. For samples cured for 28 days a short-term leach test set by Italian regulation for industrial waste recycling (D.M. 5 February 1998) was performed. The best results showed a 5% release of the total initial amount of organic pollutant.  相似文献

Semiconductor quantum‐dot (QD) systems offering perfect site control and tunable emission energy are essential for numerous nanophotonic device applications involving spatial and spectral matching of dots with optical cavities. Herein, the properties of ordered InGaAs/GaAs QDs grown by organometallic chemical vapor deposition on substrates patterned with pyramidal recesses are reported. The seeded growth of a single QD inside each pyramid results in near‐perfect (<10 nm) control of the QD position. Moreover, efficient and uniform photoluminescence (inhomogeneous broadening <10 meV) is observed from ordered arrays of such dots. The QD emission energy can be finely tuned by varying 1) the pyramid size and 2) its position within specific patterns. This tunability is brought about by the patterning of both the chemical properties and the surface curvature features of the substrate, which allows local control of the adatom fluxes that determine the QD thickness and composition.  相似文献

Potentially life threatening rythm disturbances, such as third degree A-V block and sinus arrest without "escape rythm", represent infrequent and unexpected events during dipyridamole thallium scintigraphy. We report three cases of cardiac arrest requiring resuscitation maneuvers after dipyridamole infusion during myocardial thallium scan. On the basis of these clinical observations we suggest that a trained cardiologist and resuscitation kit should be available in nuclear lab. Moreover elderly patients may require careful screening for preexisting conduction defects and sick sinus syndrome. When dipyridamole infusion provokes severe bradyarrhythmias not related to myocardial ischemia, a transesophageal electrophysiological study should always be performed.  相似文献

Cancer of the gall bladder is a rare malignant neoplasm with an unfavourable prognosis. Laparoscopic surgery has brought about the emergence of possible neoplastic diffusion along trocar tracts in cases where unrecognized carcinoma of the gall bladder is present. The authors present a case of neoplastic abdominal diffusion discovered 4 months after laparoscopic cholecystectomy in which histologic examination of the surgical specimen revealed the presence of unrecognized carcinoma of the gall bladder.  相似文献
