The antimicrobial activity of aqueous, methanol, hexane, and ethyl acetate extracts from edible wild and cultivated mushrooms against nine foodborne pathogenic bacterial strains (Escherichia coli O157:H7, Salmonella Enteritidis, Shigella sonnei, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Yersinia enterocolitica, Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus) was screened with a disk diffusion assay. Twenty-nine of the 48 species tested had antimicrobial activity. Methanol, ethyl acetate, and aqueous extracts accounted for 92.8% of the positive assays, whereas the hexane extracts accounted for only 7.2%. Gram-positive bacteria were more sensitive than gram-negative bacteria to fungal extracts, and C. perfringens was the most sensitive microorganism. Aqueous extracts from Clitocybe geotropa and Lentinula edodes had the highest antimicrobial activity against all the bacterial strains tested.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) application in light-harvesting processes is hindered by its wide band gap. Strategies such as morphology shifts from nanoparticles to nanotubes and doping of fabricated nanostructures are widely used to address this issue. Combining both approaches, this work successfully synthesizes, for the first time, aluminium-doped TiO2 nanotubes via a single-step anodization method at three distinct potentials (20, 40 and 60 V). SEM images revealed the successful formation of remarkably thin layers of TiO2 nanotubes produced at 40 and 60 V. X-ray diffractograms and Raman spectra suggest the successful insertion of aluminium into the anatase lattice. Diffuse reflectance confirmed the doping process through a marked effect on the absorbance of visible light for the higher voltages, as well as through a reduction in the optical band gap. For utilization purposes, the photoelectrochemical performance of 40 V Al–TiO2 was able to deliver a comparable response to that of a compact TiO2 layer of the same thickness. The current density developed by the 60 V sample was increased by 120% in comparison to the undoped material, despite having an absorbance much lower than that of the latter. Overall, synthesizing an Al-doped TiO2 nanotubular structure has proven to be a great strategy in the development of materials for application in advanced light-harvesting electrodes.  相似文献

Adenosine is a signaling molecule, which, by activating its receptors, acts as an important player after cerebral ischemia. Here, we review data in the literature describing A2BR-mediated effects in models of cerebral ischemia obtained in vivo by the occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAo) or in vitro by oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) in hippocampal slices. Adenosine plays an apparently contradictory role in this receptor subtype depending on whether it is activated on neuro-glial cells or peripheral blood vessels and/or inflammatory cells after ischemia. Indeed, A2BRs participate in the early glutamate-mediated excitotoxicity responsible for neuronal and synaptic loss in the CA1 hippocampus. On the contrary, later after ischemia, the same receptors have a protective role in tissue damage and functional impairments, reducing inflammatory cell infiltration and neuroinflammation by central and/or peripheral mechanisms. Of note, demyelination following brain ischemia, or autoimmune neuroinflammatory reactions, are also profoundly affected by A2BRs since they are expressed by oligodendroglia where their activation inhibits cell maturation and expression of myelin-related proteins. In conclusion, data in the literature indicate the A2BRs as putative therapeutic targets for the still unmet treatment of stroke or demyelinating diseases.  相似文献

The nerve tissue mini-hemoglobin from Cerebratulus lacteus (CerHb) displays an essential globin fold hosting a protein matrix tunnel held to allow traffic of small ligands to and from the heme. CerHb heme pocket hosts the distal TyrB10/GlnE7 pair, normally linked to low rates of O(2) dissociation and ultra-high O(2) affinity. However, CerHb affinity for O(2) is similar to that of mammalian myoglobins, due to a dynamic equilibrium between high and low affinity states driven by the ability of ThrE11 to orient the TyrB10 OH group relative to the heme ligand. We present here the high resolution crystal structures of CerHb in the unligated and carbomonoxy states. Although CO binds to the heme with an orientation different from the O(2) ligand, the overall binding schemes for CO and O(2) are essentially the same, both ligands being stabilized through a network of hydrogen bonds based on TyrB10, GlnE7, and ThrE11. No dramatic protein structural changes are needed to support binding of the ligands, which can freely reach the heme distal site through the apolar tunnel. A lack of main conformational changes between the heme-unligated and -ligated states grants stability to the folded mini-Hb and is a prerequisite for fast ligand diffusion to/from the heme.  相似文献

In this work, multiferroic composites were produced from CoFe2O4 and KNbO3 mixtures via control of the heat treatment temperature. For this, CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were produced by sol-gel method, while KNbO3 was synthesized by microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis. The powders were homogenized and subjected to heat treatment at 300, 400 and 500 °C for 5 h. The structural, electrical and magnetic properties were characterized. The results of X-ray diffraction indicated that there was no formation of secondary phases with heat treatment. Raman vibrational modes confirmed the presence of KNbO3 and CoFe2O4 in the prepared composites. SEM analysis showed that the composite microstructure consists of smaller ferrite particles arranged on the surface of largest cubic KNbO3 particles. The improvement of coercivity (HC = 382.1Oe) and dielectric constant (?’~7860) was observed for the composite thermally treated at 300 °C. The obtained results show the potential application of KN:CFO composites for multifunctional devices.  相似文献

The synthesis, crystal structures and band electronic structures of BEDT-TTF based synmetals are discussed, where BEDT-TTF is bis(ethylenedithio)-tetrathiofulvalene here abbreviated to “ET”. The electrical properties of ET:X salts above their phase transitions are either 1D [for (ET)2X, where X = ICl2, AuBr2, Au(CN)2 and Ag(CN)2], 2D metallic [for (ET)2X, where X = I3, AuI2, IBr2 and I2Br] or 3D metallic [for (ET)Ag4(CN)5]. The β-(ET)2X (X = I3, AuI2 and IBr2) salts become ambient pressure organic superconductors at 1,4 K (or ∼ 8 K under pressure), 5.0 K, and 2.8 K, respectively. The variation of critical temperatures of this series of β-(ET)2X salts are correlated to the respective changes in unit cell volume or in the density of electronic states at the Fermi level.  相似文献
