In this study, spectral indices were calculated from single date HyMap (3 m; 126 bands), Hyperion (30 m; 242 bands), ASTER (15/30 m; 9 bands), and a time series of MODIS nadir BRDF-adjusted reflectance (NBAR; 1 km, 7 bands) for a study area surrounding the Tumbarumba flux tower site in eastern Australia. The study involved: a) the calculation of a range of physiologically-based vegetation indices from ASTER, HyMap, Hyperion and MOD43B NBAR imagery over the flux tower site; b) comparison across scales between HyMap, Hyperion and MODIS for the normalized difference water index (NDWI) and the Red-Green ratio; c) analysis of relationships between tower-based flux and light use efficiency (LUE) measurements and seasonal and climatic constraints on growth; and d) examination of relationships between fluxes, LUE and time series of NDVI, NDWI and Red-Green ratio. Strong seasonal patterns of variation were observed in NDWI and Red/Green ratio from MODIS NBAR. Correlations between fine (3 and 30 m) and coarse (1 km) scale indices for a small region around the flux tower site were moderately good for Red/Green ratio, but poor for NDWI. Hymap NDWI values for the understorey canopy were much lower than values for the tree canopy. MODIS NDWI was negatively correlated with CO2 fluxes during warm and cool seasons. The correlation indicated that surface reflectance, affected by a spectrally bright grassland understorey canopy, was decoupled from growth of trees with access to deep soil moisture. The application of physiologically-based indices at earth observation scale requires careful attention to applicability of band configurations, contribution of vegetation components to reflectance signals, mechanistic relationships between biochemical processes and spectral indexes, and incorporation of ancillary information into any analysis.  相似文献

A secondary electrospray ionization (SESI) method was developed as a nonradioactive ionization source for ion mobility spectrometry (IMS). This SESI method relied on the gas-phase interaction between charged particles created by electrospray ionization (ESI) and neutral gaseous sample molecules. Mass spectrometry (MS) was used as the detection method after ion mobility separation for ion identification. Preliminary investigations focussed on understanding the ionization process of SESI. The performance of ESI-IMS and SESI-IMS for illicit drug detection was evaluated by determining the analytical figures of merit. In general, SESI had a higher ionization efficiency for small volatile molecules compared with the electrospray method. The potential of developing a universal interface for both GC- and LC-MS with an addition stage of mobility separation was demonstrated.  相似文献

Two-alternative forced-choice procedures were used to measure the detectability of bright and dark bars at various locations across luminance patterns that produced Mach bands. Detection performance was significantly affected by both dark and bright Mach bands: poor detection performance was observed at locations near, but not in, the Mach bands; relatively good detection performance at locations within the Mach bands was caused by reliable changes in the width, depth, or symmetry of the bands produced by the signal bars. The changes were apparent with signals of lower luminance than that needed for detection in the plateau regions far from the bands, but, because the cues were not sufficiently reliable to allow errorless performance, unusually shaped psychometric functions were obtained.  相似文献

Several studies with test-day models for the lactation curve show heterogeneity of residual variance over time. The most common approach is to divide the lactation length into subclasses, assuming homogeneity within these classes and heterogeneity between them. The main drawbacks of this approach are that it can lead to many parameters being estimated and that classes have to be arbitrarily defined, whereas the residual variance changes continuously over time. A methodology that overcomes these drawbacks is proposed here. A structural model on the residual variance is assumed in which the covariates are parametric functions of time. In this model, only a few parameters need to be estimated, and the residual variance is then a continuous function of time. The analysis of a sample data set illustrates this methodology.  相似文献

We assessed the effectiveness of a novel dry cow treatment containing lacticin 3147 using deliberate challenge studies in lactating cows. Infection-free quarters of lactating cows were infused with Teat seal (Cross Vetpharm Group, Ltd., Dublin, Ireland) combined with the food-grade bacteriocin, lacticin 3147. Natural infection of the teat was simulated by deliberately introducing Staphylococcus aureus into the teat duct and teat sinus. Relative to control quarters, teat seal plus lacticin 3147 reduced the number of teats shedding viable cells when an inoculum of either approximately 1.7 x 10(3) or approximately 6.8 x 10(3) cfu per teat was used. In addition, the numbers of challenge organisms in those teats from which S. aureus was subsequently recovered were also reduced. However, when the concentration of bacteriocin in the teat seal formulation was reduced by approximately 50%, the number of teats shedding S. aureus cells was not reduced. These data indicate the potential for lacticin 3147 to prevent staphylococcal mastitis infections when a sufficient concentration of the bacteriocin is present. This study also highlights the application of a lactating-cow model to assess the effectiveness of antimicrobial intramammary products on mastitic cell populations.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine whether the differences in the composition of milk from cows of different beta-lactoglobulin beta-LG) phenotypes are affected by the amount of pasture available and, hence, pasture dry matter intake. Twenty-two Friesian cows of each of the AA and BB variants of the beta-LG phenotype were subjected to ad libitum grazing or restricted grazing in crossover experiments during spring (early lactation, approximately 60 d in milk) and summer (mid to late lactation, approximately 180 d in milk). Milk samples were collected from each cow at the end of each 8-d treatment period and analyzed for composition. Cows of the AA variant of the beta-LG phenotype had higher concentrations of whey protein and beta-LG, but lower concentrations of casein (CN), alpha-CN, kappa-CN (summer only), and BSA, than cows of the BB variant. Compared with cows with a restricted allowance, cows grazing ad libitum had higher milk yields and concentrations of protein, casein, whey protein, and all individual proteins except BSA and immunoglobulin. There were no interactions between effects of pasture allowance and phenotype on milk yield or composition. The data show that having adequate pasture for grazing cows is important not only to maximize milk yield, but also to optimize concentrations of protein and casein, and hence the manufacturing potential of milk. Further, the differences in composition of milk from cows of differing beta-LG phenotypes persisted during short-term restrictions in pasture allowance, and between spring and summer.  相似文献

The use of static voltage stability indices based on a singular value decomposition of the power flow Jacobian matrix and matrices derived from the Jacobian matrix is discussed. It is shown that such indices, together with the singular vectors, contain substantial and important information about the proximity to voltage instability and also about critical buses and disturbances from a voltage instability point of view. This is done by a theoretical analysis of the linear power flow equations and an analysis from model power systems as well as realistic power systems (1033 nodes). Intermittent aeration of cutting oil emulsion was shown to reduce but not eliminate sulphate reducing bacteria (srb). Removing iron swarf from infected cutting fluid markedly reduced the numbers of srb detected in the fluid, and prevented the characteristic grey spoilage which these organisms promote.
