High gas temperatures can be reached inside a hydrogen tank during the filling process because of the large pressure increase (up to 70–80 MPa) and because of the short time (∼3 min) of the process. High temperatures can potentially jeopardize the structural integrity of the storage system and one of the strategies to reduce the temperature increase is to pre-cool the hydrogen before injecting it into the tank. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools have the capabilities of capturing the flow field and the temperature rise in the tank. The results of CFD simulations of fast filling with pre-cooling are shown and compared with experimental data to assess the accuracy of the CFD model.  相似文献

Effect of electric and flow parameters on PEF treatment efficiency   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The effects of both the electric and flow parameters on the lethality and energy efficiency of a pulsed electric fields (PEF) treatment were studied. An experimental plan was designed in order to study the microbial inactivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Escherichia coli cells inoculated in a buffer solution. The following process parameters were taken into consideration: electric field strength (13-30 kV/cm), total specific energy input (20-110 J/mL), flow rate of the processed stream (1-4 L/h) and number of passes through the chamber (up to 5).The results showed that, at a fixed flow rate (2 L/h), microbial inactivation of both microbial strains increased with increasing field strength and applied energy input. The maximum inactivation level (5.9 Log-cycles for S. cerevisiae and 7.0 Log-cycles for E. coli) corresponded to the more intensive PEF treatment (30 kV/cm and 110 J/mL). However, for any given field strength applied, the inactivation rate decreased by increasing the energy input. This behavior was attributed to the presence of heterogeneous treatment conditions due, for example, to a different morphology (size and shape) or cell membrane (composition, structure), a local variation of the electric field strength in the treatment chamber, the tendency of microbial cells to form clusters, or a non-uniform distribution of the residence time of the product in the PEF chamber.A more effective stirring of the microbial suspensions which was achieved, at a fixed field strength (18 kV/cm), either by increasing the flow rate with a single pass operation through the PEF chamber, or by operating in re-circulating mode at a constant flow rate, provided a significant increase in the effectiveness and energy efficiency of the pulse treatment.A mathematical model based on the Weibull distribution adequately described the inactivation kinetics of both microbial strains under different flow dynamic conditions.  相似文献

The paper describes a very special and suggestive example of optical three-dimensional (3D) acquisition, reverse engineering and rapid prototyping of a historic automobile, a Ferrari 250 Mille Miglia, performed primarily using an optical 3D whole-field digitiser based on the projection of incoherent light (OPL-3D, developed in our laboratory). The entire process consists in the acquisition, the point cloud alignment, the triangle model definition, the NURBS creation, the production of the STL file, and finally the generation of a scaled replica of the car.The process, apart from the importance of the application to a unique, prestigious historic racing car, demonstrates the ease of application of the optical system to the gauging and the reverse engineering of large surfaces, as automobile body press parts and full-size clays, with high accuracy and reduced processing time, for design and restyling applications.  相似文献

The present work was mainly focused to study the response of representative non pathogenic microorganisms to the environment inside the space vehicle at different mission stages (10, 56, and 226 days) within the frame of the Italian ENEIDE mission, from Feb to Oct 2005. Microorganisms were chosen according to their phylogenetic position and cell structures; they were representatives of the three taxonomic domains and belonged to different ecosystems (food, soil, intestinal tract, plants, deep-sea). They were the followings: Thermococcus guaymasensis (Domain Archaea); Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Domain Eucarya); Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Enterococcus faecium, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Rhizobium tropici (Domain Bacteria). As main environmental parameters we were interested in: a) space radiations; b) microgravity; c) temperature. The response of microorganisms was investigated in terms of survival rates, cell structure modifications, and genomic damages. The survival of cells was affected by both radiation doses and intrinsec cell features. As expected, only samples kept on the ISS for 226 days showed significant levels of mortality. Asfar as regard the effect on cell structures, these samples showed also remarkable morphological changes, particularly for Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecium, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The data collected allowed to get new insights into the biological traits of microorganisms exposed to space environment during the flight on a spacecraft. Moreover, the result obtained may be important for the improvement of human conditions aboard space vehicles (nutraceuticals for astronauts and disinfections of ISS modules) and also for the potential development of closed systems devoted to vegetable productions and organic recycling.  相似文献

Summary  The quality of tomato purèe prepared from transgenic fruits ( Lycopersicon esculentum ) which had reduced amounts of polygalacturonase (PG) activity, were evaluated. The application of genetic modification yields products which have lower Bostwick consistency values (from 35 to 55%), reduced serum separation ( c . 40%) and better sensory appearance and acceptability in comparison with their conventional counterparts. A new way of producing high quality tomato products using genetically modified fruits together with mild heat treatments is described.  相似文献

The use of OPL-3D, a robust, flexible and easy-to-use optical digitizer, in conjunction with reverse engineering procedures is presented. The optical digitizer is used as a stand-alone (i.e., not in tandem with popular CMM’s) system, whose output point clouds can be manipulated, by means of both specifically-designed software and high-performance commercial software, to produce mesh surfaces and NURBS of the acquired shape. The digitizer-process combination yields accurate digital replicas of the target object, the accuracy of the whole combination being on the order of 1/1500 of the measurement range. The speed of acquisition, combined with the above high accuracy, the ease of use and the fact that recalibration is seldom required makes the digitizer ideal for reverse engineering in an enormous number of applications ranging from automotive to biomedical.  相似文献
