Two-dimensional bilinear preserving projections for image feature extraction and classification

Two-dimensional locality preserving projections (2DLPP) was recently proposed to extract features directly from image matrices based on locality preserving criterion. A significant drawback of 2DLPP is that it only works on one direction (left or right) to reduce the dimensionality of the image matrices and thus too many coefficients are needed for image representation in low-dimensional subspace. In this paper, we propose a novel method called two-dimensional bilinear preserving projections (2DBPP) for image feature extraction. We generalized the image-based (2D-based) feature extraction techniques into bilinear cases, in which 2DLPP is a special case of our proposed method. In order to obtain the bilinear projections, we proposed an iteration method by solving the corresponding generalized eigen-equations. Moreover, analyses show that 2DBPP has stronger locality preserving abilities than 2DLPP. By using the label information and defining different local neighborhood graphs, the proposed framework is further extended to supervised case. Experiments on three databases show that 2DBPP and its supervised extension are superior to some other image-based state-of-the-art techniques.

Phase morphology and impact toughness of impact polypropylene copolymer

Factors influencing the impact toughness of two impact polypropylene copolymers (IPC) with almost the same ethylene content, molecular weight and molecular weight distribution were studied by temperature gradient extraction fractionation (TGEF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicate that poor interfacial adhesion between the disperse phase and the continuous matrix, larger dimensions and non-uniform distribution of disperse phases are main reasons for the low impact toughness of IPC B that possesses of a low content of ethylene-propylene segmented copolymer with long crystallizable PE and PP sequences as a compatibilizer between the disperse phase and the matrix.

制备了丙烯酸酯乳液,探讨了丙烯酸、N-羟甲基丙烯酰胺、二乙烯基苯、丙烯腈和三聚氰胺等不同改性剂对乳液性能的影响,在此基础上通过互穿网络聚合、化学共聚及物理共混等方法对乳液的性能进行了改性研究。

Multimodel analysis and controller design for nonlinear processes

Multimodel analysis and controller design for nonlinear processes via gap metric is discussed. It is shown that the loop-shaping H_∞ approach can integrate the procedure of selecting operating points and the local controller design. The local controllers can guarantee not only stability but also performance specified by the pre- and/or post-compensators. Thus, at each operating points, local controllers can have similar performance, and the global performance of the system can be predicted.
