Simultaneous Hall and conductivity measurements were performed in situ between 650° and 1050°C on n-type semiconducting BaSnO3 ceramics. The variation of the Hall mobility and the Hall carrier density as a function of oxygen partial pressure between 102 and 105 Pa and of temperature was investigated. At temperatures below 900°C the conductivity exhibits a dependence on temperature and oxygen partial pressure which is mainly determined by variations of the Hall mobility. Above 900°C most of the significant dependence is due to a variation in carrier density. Furthermore, a simple defect model assuming doubly ionized oxygen vacancies and acceptor impurities is discussed for BaSnO3 . 相似文献

The interactions between the abundant methionine residues ofthe calcium regulatory protein calmodulin (CaM) and severalof its binding targets were probed using fluorescence spectroscopy.Tryptophan steady-state fluorescence from peptides encompassingthe CaM-binding domains of the target proteins myosin lightchain kinase (MLCK), cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE)and caldesmon site A and B (CaD A, CaD B), and the model peptidemelittin showed Ca2+-dependent blue-shifts in their maximumemission wavelength when complexed with wild-type CaM. Blue-shiftswere also observed for complexes in which the CaM methionineresidues were replaced by selenomethionine, norleucine and ethionine,and when a quadruple methionine to leucine C-terminal mutantof CaM was studied. Quenching of the tryptophan fluorescenceintensity was observed with selenomethionine, but not with norleucineor ethionine substituted protein. Fluorescence quenching studieswith added potassium iodide (KI) demonstrate that the non-nativeproteins limit the solvent accessibility of the Trp in the MLCKpeptide to levels close to that of the wild-type CaMMLCKinteraction. Our results show that the methionine residues fromCaM are highly sensitive to the target peptide in question,confirming the importance of their role in binding interactions.In addition, we provide evidence that the nature of bindingin the CaMCaD B complex is unique compared with the othercomplexes studied, as the Trp residue of this peptide remainspartially solvent exposed upon binding to CaM. 相似文献

The uncertainty about the fouling behaviour is one of the main reasons why plate and frame heat exchangers are not more widely installed in the chemical process industry and in power generating facilities. In the present investigation, the deposition of calcium sulphate in two different plate heat exchanger geometries was investigated. The deposition process was deliberately focused on crystallisation fouling through the installation of an in-line filter and the mode of preparation of the test solution. The investigated operating parameters were solution concentration, flow velocity, and bulk and surface temperatures. The heat exchangers were opened after each experiment to record the appearance and distribution of the deposits. Abstract. This paper analyzes the presence and consequences of a unit root in periodic autoregressive models for univariate quarterly time series. First, we consider various representations of such models, including a new parametrization which facilitates imposing a unit root restriction. Next, we propose a class of likelihood ratio tests for a unit root, and we derive their asymptotic null distributions. Likelihood ratio tests for periodic parameter variation are also proposed. Three identical biofilters, run under the same conditions but inoculated with different mixed cultures, were fed a mixture of toluene, ethylbenzene, and o-xylene (TEX) gases. Inert porous perlite was used as support material, in contrast to the more conventional biofiltration systems where natural supports are used. Biodegradation started in all three biofilters a few hours after inoculation, without previous adaptation of the inocula to the toxic mixture. Despite acidification of the systems to pH values below 4·5, the elimination capacities reached were fully satisfactory. The best performing biofilter, in which bacteria were dominant, showed an elimination capacity of 70 g TEX m−3 h−1 with a near complete removal of the mixture up to an influent concentration of 1200 mg TEX m−3 at a gas residence time of 57 s. Most of the ingoing carbon was recovered as carbon dioxide in the outgoing gas. In the other biofilters fungi dominated and performance was slightly worse. With single substrates, the elimination capacity was higher for toluene and ethylbenzene than for the TEX mixture, whereas o-xylene removal was slowest in all cases. Flow theories can help in determining the fundamental interrelationships between the leak rate of gaskets for flange connections and the relevant influencing parameters. The basic rule for the transfer of results obtained for special boundary conditions to other conditions can be derived. In this way the effort involved in gasket testing can be reduced. This paper gives the interrelations between the leak rate of gaskets on the one hand and the internal pressure, the temperature, the medium, and the gasket thickness on the other and discusses them with aid of measured results. The effect of the gasket stress and thickness can be determined only of experimental investigations. Furthermore, the requirements placed on gaskets, the leak rate related gasket characteristics defined in various standards and the measuring techniques for their determination are discussed. 相似文献
