Failed spinal anaesthesia for left total hip arthroplasty was followed postoperatively by dense motor paralysis and sensory deficit in the right leg. The patient had received a dose of subcutaneous heparin 1 h before the spinal anaesthetic was attempted. She died of pulmonary embolism on the ninth postoperative day. A major problem in the treatment of haemophilia A is the development of inhibitors (antibodies) against factor VIII. We report the case of a newborn male with no family history of haemophilia who developed an intracerebral haemorrhage. On day 10 post-delivery severe haemophilia A was diagnosed and treatment with recombinant FVIII (rFVIII) concentrate was started. Seventy-two hours later the presence of inhibitors was suspected because high doses of rFVIII were required to maintain therapeutic FVIII plasma levels. Days after, the inhibitor was detected. The quick detection of the inhibitor in this newborn haemophiliac allowed us to start the immunotolerance early, without interruption in the administration of rFVIII. 相似文献

A rapid and reliable analytical method for the determination of diacetyl and other vicinal diketones in beer is described. Like Analytica EBC, the new assay is based on the spectrophotometric estimation of 2,3-dialkylquinoxalines. A comparison between these two methods is made, from which it can be concluded that both the recovery figures for added diacetyl and the coefficient of variation found in the modified method show a notable improvement compared with the EBC method. This method is recommended for quality control use on the basis of its speed and accuracy. 相似文献

Several studies have already shown a deficit in learning ability following closed-head injury (CHI). Moreover, different learning curves have been claimed to characterize different head-injured subgroups (A. R. Luria, 1973). The present study separated the learning process into 2 different components: the number of new words added in each learning trial and the number of words omitted from trial to trial. The Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test was administered to 30 normal Ss and 30 CHI Ss. Analysis of the number of words recalled in each of the 5 learning trials showed that, relative to the CHI group, the control group recalled a greater number of words and exhibited a steeper learning curve. Further analysis revealed that the control group's steeper learning curve was a product of both a significantly greater increment of words in each trial and a significantly smaller number of words omitted from trial to trial. The clinical and theoretical implications of the distinction between addition and omission of information in the learning process are discussed. This common objective motivated us to develop and evaluate a system that puts ubiquitous computing technologies into the rehabilitation process of people with acquired brain injury. Thus, in this paper, we present and evaluate a system that shows adaptive manuals for daily-life activities for people with acquired brain injury. Instant messaging has been widely utilised by a variety of types of organisations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of internal communication and knowledge management (KM). To date, though, the continuance use of enterprise instant messaging (EIM) and its impact on KM outcomes have not been well understood in both academia and practice. This paper uses the decomposed theory of planned behaviour to explore factors that influence continual usage of EIM applications within organisations, as well as the impact of the continuance use decisions on knowledge creation, transfer, and retention within organisations. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has evolved into a key technology for ubiquitous living and the domain of interest has remained active in research owing to its extensive range of applications. In spite of this, it is challenging to design energy-efficient WSN. The routing approaches are leveraged to reduce the utilization of energy and prolonging the lifespan of network. In order to solve the restricted energy problem, it is essential to reduce the energy utilization of data, transmitted from the routing protocol and improve network development. In this background, the current study proposes a novel Differential Evolution with Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm Enabled Multi-hop Routing Protocol (DEAOA-MHRP) for WSN. The aim of the proposed DEAOA-MHRP model is select the optimal routes to reach the destination in WSN. To accomplish this, DEAOA-MHRP model initially integrates the concepts of Different Evolution (DE) and Arithmetic Optimization Algorithms (AOA) to improve convergence rate and solution quality. Besides, the inclusion of DE in traditional AOA helps in overcoming local optima problems. In addition, the proposed DEAOA-MRP technique derives a fitness function comprising two input variables such as residual energy and distance. In order to ensure the energy efficient performance of DEAOA-MHRP model, a detailed comparative study was conducted and the results established its superior performance over recent approaches. 相似文献

The adoption of Information and Communication Technologies in early childhood education is crucial for adapting traditional classrooms to the digital era. Over time, young children are increasingly using touch screen technologies such as tablets at home and in early childhood settings. However, the literature shows that there is a significant gap in knowledge of using this technology in early childhood education. Most researchers have focused on the pedagogical theory behind using touch screen devices, but there have not been many empirical studies about how these technologies affect students' learning processes. This paper presents three learning experiences where early childhood students perform educational activities using tablet computers, interactive whiteboards, and paper cards. The results show that students who used the technology were more motivated and achieved better results that those who used paper cards. 相似文献

Two tasks requiring communicative role taking were administered to 96 1st- and 5th-grade Israeli children in 2 kibbutzim or a large city. It was predicted that the greater peer interaction experienced by Ss in the kibbutz would enhance their role-taking abilities. Results confirm this prediction. Ss from the kibbutz were better able to decenter in formulating a novel message to a listener (Task I) and to differentiate better between a child and adult listener in formulating a message (Task 2). 5th graders performed better on both tasks than 1st graders.
