An improved optical self-heterodyne method utilizing a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) tunable laser and an optical fiber ring interferometer is presented in this paper. The interference efficiency can be increased by 7 dB compared with the scheme using the conventional Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The unsteady process that the beating frequency experiences in each tuning period is investigated. According to the measurement results, the wavelength and optical power of the tunable laser will be steady when the square-wave frequency is lower than 300 kHz. It has been shown that when a square-wave voltage is applied to the phase section of the tunable laser, the laser linewidths vary in a wide range, and are much larger than that under dc voltage tuning. The errors caused by the variations in the linewidth of the beat signal and optical power can be eliminated using the proposed calibration procedures, and the measurement accuracy can, therefore, be significantly improved. Experiments show that the frequency responses obtained using our method agree well with the data provided by the manufacturer, and the improved optical self-heterodyne method is as accurate as the intensity noise technique. 相似文献

Growth of inorganic polyhedral nanocrystals with excellent morphology control presents significant synthetic challenges, especially when the development of synthetic schemes to make nanocrystals with systematic shape evolution is desired. Nanocrystals with fine size and shape control facilitate formation of their self‐assembled packing structures and offer opportunities for examination of their facet‐dependent physical and chemical properties. In this Feature Article, recent advances in the synthesis of nanocrystals with systematic shape evolution are highlighted. The reaction conditions used to achieve this morphology change offer insights into the growth mechanisms of nanocrystals. A novel class of polyhedral core–shell heterostructures fabricated using structurally well‐defined nanocrystal cores is also presented. Facet‐dependent photocatalytic activity, molecular adsorption, and catalytic and electrical properties of nanocrystals have been examined and are discussed. Nanomaterials with enhanced properties and functionality may be obtained through continuous efforts in the synthesis of nanocrystals with well‐defined structures and investigation of their plane‐selective properties. 相似文献

Medium access control (MAC) protocol is among the most active topics of research in ad hoc networks. With the CDMA-based MAC
protocol the code allocation plays an important role and has significant impact on the protocol performance. In this paper,
we propose a distributed CDMA code assignment protocol for the mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). The protocol is mainly composed
of (1) a modified busy tone signaling mechanism that protects on-going data transmission as well as distributes code usage
information, and (2) a set of specially designed code selection rules that work by taking into consideration whether relevant
nodes are in the transmitting or receiving state. By combining the two proposed schemes with the conventional request-to-send
(RTS)/clear-to-send (CTS) dialogue and power control mechanism, our protocol is able to increase CDMA code reusability. The
simulation results indicate that the proposed protocol indeed performs better than the static and dynamic code assignment
methods (either with or without power control) in terms of successful transmission rate and successful code assignment rate.
And instead of sending continuously, the proposed modified busy tone mechanism only issues busy tone signal in randomly selected
cycles, which may save battery energy as compared to conventional busy tone implementations. Moreover, the proposed code selection
rules and the modified busy tone signaling may also be integrated into existing MAC protocols, either separately or in combination. 相似文献
