The characterization of the physical and chemical properties of coal on a standard provides an understanding of its characteristics towards spontaneous combustion. The trend of linear relationships between coal recording standards (% air-dried (ad), % dry (db) and % dry ash free (daf) basis) of 30 selected coal samples from the Witbank coalfields and spontaneous combustion liability indices were evaluated. The spontaneous combustion liability indices of these samples were evaluated by crossing point temperature (XPT), Stage II Slope, FCC (Feng, Chakravorty, Cochrane) and the Wits-Ehac tests, while the coal properties were determined from the proximate and ultimate analyses. The results obtained from these coal properties were related to different liability indices to develop trends of linear relationships using regression analysis. The ad basis indicated higher correlation coefficients than the db and daf basis for the XPT and FCC index, while the daf showed higher correlation coefficients than the ad and db basis for the Wits-Ehac index. It was found that the trend of linear relationships of these coal properties differs from one liability index to the next. The XPTs showed a better trend followed by the Stage II Slope on the coal properties among the spontaneous combustion liability indices evaluated. 相似文献

In this study, the effect of plasma treatment and nanofinishing on leather properties was investigated. O2 and N2 gases were used for activating the leather surface, and thin layers were deposited by hexamethyldisiloxane and tetraethyloxysilane. Nanofinishing process was performed using TiO2–SiO2 nanocomposite solution. The surface properties of the treated leathers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The results showed that the hydrophobicity of leather was clearly improved after plasma end treatment with hexamethyldisiloxane, while treatment with tetraethyloxysilane increased its hydrophilic property. Moreover, the fastness properties and water vapor permeability of leathers were improved. 相似文献

Can an electronic portfolio that is both a multimedia container for student work and a tool to support key learning processes have a positive impact on the literacy practices and self-regulated learning skills of students? This article presents the findings of a yearlong study conducted in three Canadian provinces during the 2007–2008 school year initially involving 32 teachers and 388 students. Due to varying levels of implementation our final data set included 14 teachers and 296 students. Using a non-equivalent pre-test/post-test design, we found that grade 4–6 students who were in classrooms where the teacher provided regular and appropriate use of the electronic portfolio tool ePEARL (i.e., medium–high implementation condition, n = 7 classrooms and 121 students), compared to control students (n = 7 classrooms and 175 students) who did not use ePEARL, showed significant improvements (p < .05) in their writing skills on a standardized literacy measure (i.e., the constructed response subtest of the Canadian Achievement Test-4th ed.) and certain metacognitive skills measured via student self-report. The results of this study indicate that teaching with ePEARL has positive impacts on students’ literacy and self-regulated learning skills when the tool is used regularly and integrated into classroom instruction. 相似文献

A promising line of research for radar systems attempts to optimize the detector thresholds so as to maximize the overall performance of a radar detector–tracker pair. In the present work, we attempt to move in a direction to fulfill this promise by considering a particular dynamic optimization scheme which relies on a non-simulation performance prediction (NSPP) methodology for the probabilistic data association filter (PDAF), namely, the modified Riccati equation (MRE). By using a suitable functional approximation, we propose a closed-form solution for the special case of a Neyman–Pearson (NP) detector. The proposed solution replaces previously proposed iterative solution formulations and results in dramatic improvement in computational complexity without sacrificed system performance. Moreover, it provides a theoretical lower bound on the detection signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) concerning when the whole tracking system should be switched to the track before detect (TBD) mode. 相似文献

The effect of annealing temperature on selected characteristics of polycrystalline La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 films, which have been produced on quartz substrates, was investigated. X-Ray powder diffraction patterns showed that the phase formation started at 873 K and all the films had perovskite structure. By increasing the annealing temperature, the lattice parameters were decreased. Scanning electron microscope indicated that the film thicknesses were approximately 3 μm and the average grain size of the samples varied between 30–100, 50–110, 70–120, and 100–150 nm for films annealed at 873, 973, 1,073, and 1,173 K, respectively. All the films showed a paramagnetic–ferromagnetic (TC) and metal–insulator (TIM) phase transition. The TC indicated a small variation [from 131 K (S4) to 124 K (S1)] as a function of annealing temperature, whereas the TIM went down from 212 K (S4) to 110 K (S1), a strong decrease of 102 K. A colossal magneto resistance with magneto resistance ratios of 130, 139, 156, and 163% were observed near TC and at 6 T magnetic field. 相似文献

Although hypocholesterolemia is a reported finding in sickle cell disease (SCD), low-density lipoprotein (LDL)/high-density lipoprotein (HDL) subfractions and HDL-associated enzymes have not been determined in SCD patients. Blood was collected from 38 hemoglobin (Hb)A volunteers and 45 homozygous HbSS patients who had not received blood transfusions in the last 3 months. Serum lipids were measured by automated analyzer while LDL and HDL subfraction analysis was done by continuous disc polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Serum levels of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT), apolipoprotein B (apoB) and apolipoprotein A-1 (apoA-I) were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were significantly decreased, while TG levels were significantly increased in SCD patients compared to controls. A significant decrease in intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL)-C, IDL-B, IDL-A and LDL-1 fractions were seen in SCD patients, while no significant difference was observed in small dense LDL particles. A significant decrease was seen in HDL-large, HDL-intermediate and HDL-small fractions in SCD patients versus controls. Levels of LCAT and ApoA-1 protein measured in SCD patients were significantly lower while no significant difference was observed in CETP and ApoB protein levels compared to controls. The reduction observed in LDL- and HDL-C in SCD patients was reflected as significantly decreased IDL, LDL-1 and HDL-subfractions. In this study, polypropylene (PP) nonwoven fabric which can be used as topsheet layer of an absorbent hygienic product was modified by natural based antibacterial agents. Antibacterial herbal agents (cinnamaldehyde, geraniol, phenylethyl alcohol) were sprayed by ethanol or applied by means of polylactic acid (PLA) and polycyclohexene oxide (PCHO) based polymers prepared by three different chemical methods. Characterization of synthesized materials was conducted via thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive X–ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). Besides characterization, antibacterial and pH buffering performances of antibacterial polymers alone and on PP fabric were tested by antibacterial and pH tests. Effects of antibacterial treatments on air permeability and absorption period of nonwoven fabrics were also analyzed. According to the results, biopolymers changed the thermal stability of PP nonwoven fabric. Antibacterial performances can be ranked as cinnamaldehyde, geraniol, and phenylethyl alcohol from the best. Besides a slight decrease about liquid absorption performance, all of the treated topsheet fabrics are sufficient for an absorbent hygienic product. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. With the development of technology, data has become more accessible. The storage of critical and valuable information is getting harder and harder with the increase of cyber attacks and vulnerabilities of network and internet. The centralized storage of data causes security and privacy problems. As a remedy to these problems, blockchain has occurred. The reliability, transparency, integrity and confidentiality of the data have been increased with the blockchain technology. Blockchain maintains the immutability of the data with cryptographic hash algorithms. The data is kept in distributed structures with the consensus algorithms so that it is not lost. Projects and studies using blockchain technology have shown that data stored in centralized structures is not as reliable as data that is distributed and secured by cryptographic algorithms, smart contracts, and consensus. The data of flights, which is a critical data, has a great place in world transportation. The parameters inside the black boxes guide us on why the aircrafts have crashed: whether the responsibility belongs to the manufacturer, to the pilot, or to the aircraft technicians. In this way, the real reasons of the accident may be determined and measures can be taken for the accidents that may occur afterwards. In addition, the safe delivery of all black box data to the interested parties and its storage in a way that is immutable will not only benefit to the manufacturer's self-development by processing the data, but also help flight companies to find optimum flight data. Both the flight companies and the manufacturer will be able to read the black box data, thus the suspicion of data manipulation will be eliminated and the data will become more transparent. We apply absolute beta convergence techniques to cross sectional per capita income data for alternative specifications of
U.S. regions in order to detect whether U.S. regional growth rates are converging over relatively recent time periods. We
also explore whether estimates of convergence differ between economic and political region specifications. We show that convergence
of growth rates across regions of the U.S. has continued in modern times (1969–1997) for almost any regional specification
and for all time frames considered. We do find, however, some difference in convergence rates between economic and political
regions. Convergence coefficients, however, are remarkably similar across alternative economic region specifications.

A solar-blind ultraviolet photodetector based on Ti-doped Ga2O3/Si p–n heterojunction is demonstrated for the first time. It is found that the heterojunction quality forming between Ga2O3 and Si becomes better after Ti incorporation in Ga2O3. The current–voltage and temporal response measurements show that the detector based on Ti-doped Ga2O3/Si p–n heterojunction has a responsivity of 0.382 A/W and a fast rise time of 73 ms as well, which are much better than those undoped Ga2O3/Si p–n heterojunction analogues.
