Three-dimensional depth information of a surface can be encoded in a two-dimensional image called autostereograms. The encoded surface can be reconstructed from an autostereogram by using the correspondences between pixels in human brains or computer algorithms. However, in some cases, the reconstructed surface is not unique because of echoes. In the presence of echoes, reconstruction of the original surface from the autostereogram cannot be guaranteed since no cue of the original surface is available in autostereograms. In this paper, the causes of echoes are investigated and conditions for echo-free reconstruction are derived. Based on these conditions, autostereogram generation algorithm is revised to guarantee echo-free autostereograms. Besides, the surface reconstruction algorithm is modified such that original surfaces encoded are always reconstructed from echo-free autostereograms.  相似文献

In the past, the selection of resources to execute various warehouse operation services was done solely by experts. In this paper, a RFID-based Resource Management System (RFID-RMS) is designed to help users to select the most suitable resource usage packages for handling warehouse operation orders by retrieving and analysing useful knowledge from a case-based data warehouse for solutions in both time saving and cost effective manner. In addition, a pure integral-linear programming model using a branch and bound algorithm to define the optimum travel distance of forklifts is also developed and embedded in the proposed system. The proposed system, which is suitable for usage in a warehouse operation environment, enhances the effectiveness in formulating resource usage package and managing resource operation by integrating the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), case-based reasoning (CBR) technologies and the programming model for forklift route optimization. Through applying RFID-RMS in the GENCO Distribution System, a multinational logistics company, the utilization of warehouse resources is expected to be maximized while work efficiency will be greatly enhanced.  相似文献

Chinese calligraphy is among the finest and most important of all Chinese art forms and an inseparable part of Chinese history. Its delicate aesthetic effects are generally considered to be unique among all calligraphic arts. Its subtle power is integral to traditional Chinese painting. A novel intelligent system uses a constraint-based analogous-reasoning process to automatically generate original Chinese calligraphy that meets visually aesthetic requirements. We propose an intelligent system that can automatically create novel, aesthetically appealing Chinese calligraphy from a few training examples of existing calligraphic styles. To demonstrate the proposed methodology's feasibility, we have implemented a prototype system that automatically generates new Chinese calligraphic art from a small training set.  相似文献

The application of the tolerance paradigm to security - intrusion tolerance - has been raising a reasonable amount of attention in the dependability and security communities. In this paper we present a novel approach to intrusion tolerance. The idea is to use privileged components - generically designated by wormholes - to support the execution of intrusion-tolerant protocols, often called Byzantine-resilient in the literature.The paper introduces the design of wormhole-aware intrusion-tolerant protocols using a classical distributed systems problem: consensus. The system where the consensus protocol runs is mostly asynchronous and can fail in an arbitrary way, except for the wormhole, which is secure and synchronous. Using the wormhole to execute a few critical steps, the protocol manages to have a low time complexity: in the best case, it runs in two rounds, even if some processes are malicious. The protocol also shows how often theoretical partial synchrony assumptions can be substantiated in practical distributed systems. The original generalized linear least squares (GLLS) algorithm was developed for non-uniformly sampled biomedical system parameter estimation using finely sampled instantaneous measurements (D. Feng, S.C. Huang, Z. Wang, D. Ho, An unbiased parametric imaging algorithm for non-uniformly sampled biomedical system parameter estimation, IEEE Trans. Med. Imag. 15 (1996) 512-518). This algorithm is particularly useful for image-wide generation of parametric images with positron emission tomography (PET), as it is computationally efficient and statistically reliable (D. Feng, D. Ho, Chen, K., L.C. Wu, J.K. Wang, R.S. Liu, S.H. Yeh, An evaluation of the algorithms for determining local cerebral metabolic rates of glucose using positron emission tomography dynamic data, IEEE Trans. Med. Imag. 14 (1995) 697-710). However, when dynamic PET image data are sampled according to the optimal image sampling schedule (OISS) to reduce memory and storage space (X. Li, D. Feng, K. Chen, Optimal image sampling schedule: A new effective way to reduce dynamic image storage space and functional image processing time, IEEE Trans. Med. Imag. 15 (1996) 710-718), only a few temporal image frames are recorded (e.g. only four images are recorded for the four parameter fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) model). These image frames are recorded in terms of accumulated radio-activity counts and as a result, the direct application of GLLS is not reliable as instantaneous measurement samples can no longer be approximated by averaging of accumulated measurements over the sampling intervals. In this paper, we extend GLLS to OISS-GLLS which deals with the fewer accumulated measurement samples obtained from OISS dynamic systems. The theory and algorithm of this new technique are formulated and studied extensively. To investigate statistical reliability and computational efficiency of OISS-GLLS, a simulation study using dynamic PET data was performed. OISS-GLLS using 4-measurement samples was compared to the non-linear least squares (NLS) method using 22-measurement samples, GLLS using 22-measurement samples and OISS-NLS using 4-measurement samples. Results demonstrated that OISS-GLLS was able to achieve parameter estimates of equivalent accuracy and reliability in comparison to NLS or GLLS using finely sampled measurements (22-measurement samples), or OISS-NLS using optimally sampled measurements (4-measurement samples). Further more, as fewer measurement samples are used in OISS-GLLS, this algorithm is computationally faster than NLS or GLLS. Therefore, OISS-GLLS is well-suited for image-wide parameter estimation when PET image data are recorded according to the optimal image sampling schedule.  相似文献

Caveolae are small microdomains of the plasma membrane that are thought to play important roles in signal transduction processes. In this work, we have investigated the association of Rho proteins with caveolae-enriched membrane domains isolated from cultured endothelial cells. Fractionation of ECV304 cells by sucrose gradient density centrifugation in the absence of detergent resulted in the co-sedimentation of a significant proportion of RhoA and Cdc42 with known caveolae marker proteins, including caveolin, but not with other non-caveolae membrane proteins such as the angiotensin-converting enzyme. Immunoprecipitation experiments carried on crude endothelial cell lysates as well as with solubilized caveolae-enriched membrane domains showed the coimmunoprecipitation of caveolin with RhoA but not with Cdc42. Incubation of endothelial cell lysates with a glutathione-S-transferase (GST)-RhoA fusion protein resulted in the specific precipitation of caveolin, while addition of GST-caveolin-1 to the lysates promoted the precipitation of RhoA. Moreover, incubation of bacterially expressed RhoA with GST-caveolin-1 resulted in the precipitation of RhoA, indicating that RhoA directly interacts with caveolin-1. This interaction was found to be nucleotide-independent and was not affected by prior modification of RhoA with the C3 exoenzyme from C. botulinium or with the cytotoxic necrotinizing factor from E. coli. Taken together, these results suggest the association of RhoA with endothelial caveolae-enriched membrane domains, likely through physical interaction with caveolin-1. These findings may provide new insights into the functions played by Rho proteins and caveolae in signal transduction events.  相似文献

Modular polyketide synthases (PKSs), such as the 6-deoxyerythronolide B synthase (DEBS), catalyze the biosynthesis of structurally complex and medicinally important natural products. These large multienzymes are organized into a series of functional units known as modules. Each dimeric module contains two catalytically independent clusters of active sites homologous to those of vertebrate fatty acid synthases. Earlier studies have shown that modules consist of head-to-tail homodimers in which ketosynthase (KS) and acyl carrier protein (ACP) domains are contributed by opposite subunits to form a catalytic center. Here, we probe the functional topology of the acyltransferase (AT) domain which transfers the methylmalonyl moiety of methylmalonyl-CoA onto the phosphopantetheine arm of the ACP domain. Using a bimodular derivative of DEBS, the AT domain of module 2 (AT2) was inactivated by site-directed mutagenesis. Heterodimeric protein pairs were generated in vitro between the inactivated AT2 (AT2 degrees) polypeptide and an inactive KS1 (KS1 degrees) or KS2 (KS2 degrees) protein. Both of these hybrid proteins supported polyketide synthesis, suggesting that AT2 can perform its function from either subunit. The apparent catalytic rate constants for each of the two hybrid protein pairs, KS1 degrees/AT2 degrees and KS2 degrees/AT2 degrees, were identical, indicating that no significant kinetic preference exists for a particular AT2-ACP2 combination. These results suggest that the AT domain can be shared between the two clusters of active sites within the same dimeric module. Such a novel structural organization might provide a functional advantage for the efficient biosynthesis of polyketides.  相似文献

Radio Doppler data from four encounters of the Galileo spacecraft with the jovian moon Europa have been used to refine models of Europa's interior. Europa is most likely differentiated into a metallic core surrounded by a rock mantle and a water ice-liquid outer shell, but the data cannot eliminate the possibility of a uniform mixture of dense silicate and metal beneath the water ice-liquid shell. The size of a metallic core is uncertain because of its unknown composition, but it could be as large as about 50 percent of Europa's radius. The thickness of Europa's outer shell of water ice-liquid must lie in the range of about 80 to 170 kilometers.  相似文献
