The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of the barley cleaning process in relation to physical properties. The knowledge of the range of changes in the physical parameters of processed material and their mutual relationships is required for the design and implementation of various technological processes. In this study were compared the input and output commodities in the primary postharvest cleaning process of undesirable components—occurring as admixtures of fine and coarse barley impurities as well as the barley component itself. An efficient cleaning process ensuring barley grain quality is a basic step in beer production. Therefore, seven bred varieties of brewing barley (Malz, Sebastian, Francin, KWS Irina1, KWS Irina2, Bojos, and Laudis) were tested for the qualitative assessment of the cleaning process. Physical parameters such as granulometry, bulk and tapped density, angle of repose, internal and wall friction angle, and flow functions were determined for all samples. In order to identify whether the barley variety or the sample cleaning significantly influences the determined physical properties, two‐way ANOVA was applied. The results imply that barley cleaning had the main influence on wall friction angle, while the barley variety had a significant effect on effective internal friction. Moreover, the mechanical postharvest cleaning process reduces the overall wall friction. 相似文献

Here, we present results from a systematic study on cleaning of oily deposits from solid surfaces (porcelain and stainless steel) by solutions of fatty acid sulfonated methyl esters (SME), sodium salts. The zwitterionic dodecyldimethylamine oxide (DDAO) has been used as a cosurfactant. As representatives of the vegetable and mineral oils, sunflower seed oil and light mineral oil have been used. The process of oil drop detachment from the solid substrates (roll-up mechanism) has been monitored. In the case of porcelain, excellent cleaning of oil is achieved by mixed solutions of SME and DDAO. In the case of stainless steel, excellent cleaning (superior than that by linear alkylbenzene sulfonate and sodium lauryl ether sulfate) is provided by binary and ternary mixtures of SME, which may contain also DDAO. For the studied systems, the good cleaning correlates neither with the oil/water interfacial tension, nor with the surfactant chainlength and headgroup type. The data imply that governing factors might be the thickness and morphology of admicelle layers formed on the solid/water interface. The results indicate that the SME mixtures represent a promising system for formulations in house-hold detergency, having in mind also other useful properties of SME, such as biodegradability, skin compatibility, and hard water tolerance. 相似文献

Asphaltenes are harmful components of heavy crude oils and require rational utilization after oil refining or deasphalting. Asphaltenes are macromolecules containing various functional groups that self-assemble to nanoscale aggregates and can be used as nanofillers for polymers. In this research, mixtures of asphaltenes with the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A were considered. The solubility of asphaltenes in this epoxy resin, the rheological properties of the mixtures, and the effect of asphaltenes on the curing with 4,4′-diaminodiphenyl sulfone were studied. In addition, the glass transition temperature, strength, and adhesion characteristics of the asphaltene-filled cured composites were evaluated. The dual role of asphaltenes in polymer modification was demonstrated: the asphaltenes simultaneously plasticize and reinforce the polymer matrix, and the transition from predominant plasticization to strengthening occurs with an asphaltene content at 20 wt%. The dual reinforcement/plasticization effect occurs because epoxy composites contain both nanosized and microsized particles of asphaltenes due to the partial dissolution of asphaltenes in the epoxy resin and the decrease in their solubility during high-temperature curing. 相似文献

Coloured shadows have been observed, studied, and described for centuries, raising heated debates on whether they were objective or subjective, real or imaginary, psychological or physiological. We can demonstrate this phenomenon by projecting coloured light from one and white light from the other projector on a screen, where an object casts two shadows: one (illuminated by coloured light) expectedly coloured and the other (illuminated by white light) unexpectedly coloured. One of the seemingly most solid arguments for the objectivity of the unexpected colour was the fact that it could be photographed. The aim of this work was to photograph the shadows both with conventional (colour slide film) and digital cameras and explain why the unexpected colour of the shadows appears in these photographs. With spectroradiometric measurements of the shadows themselves and also those of the photographs, it may be proven that this is simply a spectacular case of adaptation and simultaneous contrast. Digital rendering of the coloured shadow situation also supports this conclusion. Coloured shadows are excellent tools for the demonstration of adaptation and simultaneous contrast. 相似文献

An innovative strategy for electrostatically designing the electronic structure of 3D bulk materials is proposed to control charge carriers at the nanoscale. This is achieved by shifting the electronic levels of chemically identical semiconducting elements through the periodic arrangement of polar functional groups. For the example of covalent organic networks, by first‐principles calculations, the resulting collective electrostatic effects are shown to allow a targeted manipulation of the electronic landscape such that spatially confined pathways for electrons and holes can be realized. Mimicking donor–acceptor bulk heterojunctions, the new materials hold high promise for photovoltaic applications. The distinct advantage over the conventional approach of splitting excitons through chemically distinct donor and acceptor units is that here the magnitude of the band offset can be continuously tuned by varying the dipole density. A particularly promising feature of the suggested strategy is its structural versatility, which also enables the realization of more complex quantum structures such as quantum‐cascades and quantum‐checkerboards. 相似文献

1 Scope
Cinnamon is associated with anti‐obesity effects, regulating food intake, improving plasma glucose levels and lipid profiles in vivo. In the present study, the impact of cinnamyl isobutyrate (CIB), one constituent of cinnamon, on ad libitum food intake from a standardized breakfast and outcome measures of hormonal regulation of appetite were investigated.2 Methods and results
In this randomized, short‐term crossover intervention study, a 75 g per 300 mL glucose solution solely (control) or supplemented with 0.45 mg CIB was administered to 26 healthy volunteers. Prior to and 2 h after receiving control or CIB treatment, subjective hunger perceptions were rated using a visual analog scale. Food intake from a standardized breakfast was assessed 2 h after treatments. Plasma peptide YY3–36, glucagon‐like‐peptide1, ghrelin, and serotonin as well as plasma glucose and insulin were measured in blood samples drawn at fasting and 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 min after treatment. CIB administration decreased total energy intake and delta area under curve plasma glucose by 4.64 ± 3.51% and 49.3 ± 18.5% compared to control treatment, respectively.3 Conclusions

Total lipids, fatty acids and triacylglycerols in seeds of the four Saudi Arabian date cultivars ‘Anbra’, ‘Megadwel’, ‘Sacai’ and ‘Sfwai’ were analysed. Total lipid contents ranged between 7.3 and 8.6%. Oleic, lauric and myristic acid represented the most abundant fatty acids in date seed oil. HPLC-DAD-ESI-MSn analysis enabled the identification of 40 triacylglycerols with equivalent carbon number (ECN) 36–54, of which 17 were detected for the first time. Triacylglycerols mainly comprised LaOL, LaLaL, LaML, MML/LaPL and LaOO. ‘Anbra’ oil was characterised by highest proportions of saturated fatty acids and triacylglycerols with ECN 36 and 48–54. Unsaturated fatty acids prevailed in the three remaining varieties. Elevated proportions of triacylglycerols with medium ECNs were found in ‘Megadwel’ and ‘Sfwai’ oils. Aside from highest total lipid contents, ‘Sacai’ seeds predominantly contained triacylglycerols with low ECNs. Multivariate statistical analyses elucidated varietal influences on the fatty acid and triacylglycerol composition of date seed oil. 相似文献
