The ionic liquid analog, formed through the mixture of urea and AlCl3, has previously shown to serve as a low‐cost electrolyte for an aluminum‐graphite battery, while maintaining good performance and achieving high Coulombic efficiency. Undesirable are the relatively high viscosity and low conductivity of this electrolyte, when compared to chloroaluminate ionic liquids with organic cations. In this work, the fundamental changes to the electrolyte resulting from using derivatives of urea (N‐methyl urea and N‐ethyl urea), again mixed with AlCl3, are examined. These electrolytes are shown to have significantly lower viscosities (η = 45, 67, and 133 cP when using N‐ethyl urea, N‐methyl urea, and urea, respectively, at 25 °C). The associated batteries exhibit higher intrinsic discharge voltages (2.04 and 2.08 V for N‐methyl urea and N‐ethyl urea electrolytes, respectively, vs 1.95 V for urea system@100 mA g?1 specific current for ≈5 mg cm?2 loading), due to changes in concentrations of ionic species. Aluminum deposition is directly observed to primarily occur through reduction of Al2Cl7? when AlCl3 is present in excess, in contrast to previously suggested cationic Al‐containing species, via operando Raman spectroscopy performed during cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

Rechargeable lithium metal batteries are next generation energy storage devices with high energy density, but face challenges in achieving high energy density, high safety, and long cycle life. Here, lithium metal batteries in a novel nonflammable ionic-liquid (IL) electrolyte composed of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium (EMIm) cations and high-concentration bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (FSI) anions, with sodium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (NaTFSI) as a key additive are reported. The Na ion participates in the formation of hybrid passivation interphases and contributes to dendrite-free Li deposition and reversible cathode electrochemistry. The electrolyte of low viscosity allows practically useful cathode mass loading up to ≈16 mg cm−2. Li anodes paired with lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) and lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide (LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2, NCM 811) cathodes exhibit 99.6–99.9% Coulombic efficiencies, high discharge voltages up to 4.4 V, high specific capacity and energy density up to ≈199 mAh g−1 and ≈765 Wh kg−1 respectively, with impressive cycling performances over up to 1200 cycles. Highly stable passivation interphases formed on both electrodes in the novel IL electrolyte are the key to highly reversible lithium metal batteries, especially for Li–NMC 811 full batteries.  相似文献

We reviewed the literature on Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), ventilation, and building-related health problems in schools and identified commonly reported building-related health symptoms involving schools until 1999. We collected existing data on ventilation rates, carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations and symptom-relevant indoor air contaminants, and evaluated information on causal relationships between pollutant exposures and health symptoms. Reported ventilation and CO2 data strongly indicate that ventilation is inadequate in many classrooms, possibly leading to health symptoms. Adequate ventilation should be a major focus of design or remediation efforts. Total volatile organic compounds, formaldehyde (HCHO) and microbiological contaminants are reported. Low HCHO concentrations were unlikely to cause acute irritant symptoms (<0.05 ppm), but possibly increased risks for allergen sensitivities, chronic irritation, and cancer. Reported microbiological contaminants included allergens in deposited dust, fungi, and bacteria. Levels of specific allergens were sufficient to cause symptoms in allergic occupants. Measurements of airborne bacteria and airborne and surface fungal spores were reported in schoolrooms. Asthma and 'sick building syndrome' symptoms are commonly reported. The few studies investigating causal relationships between health symptoms and exposures to specific pollutants suggest that such symptoms in schools are related to exposures to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), molds and microbial VOCs, and allergens.  相似文献

An evaluation was done of respiratory failure in 149 children aged 3 to 15 presenting with funnel-shaped chest deformity (FCD). An original classification is suggested of degree of respiratory failure in FCD in children. Based on the index assessment of clinical and functional parameters an outline has been worked out for degree of respiratory failure. The criteria obtained are statistically significant; being able of giving quantitative assessment of degree of respiratory failure they can serve as control figures to be used in evaluations designed to study time course of changes in respiratory failure.  相似文献

An extensive questionnaire was developed and used to collect data from 33 herds that were on the New York State Paratuberculosis Control Program, to study farm factors associated with the presence of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis infection in dairy herds. The results of the last whole herd paratuberculosis fecal culture were used to indicate presence of infection in a herd, with herds having one or more animals positive classified as 'infected'. The average prevalence within herds was 5.2%. Fourteen herds were uninfected and 19 herds had prevalences ranging from 0.7%-28.2%. Data on 31 continuous and 67 categorical risk factors were collected by questionnaire. Ten factors were significantly associated with prevalence risk of infection in the univariable logistic regression. These factors were: the type of farm operation (commercial/registered or both); earlier diagnosis of the disease before entering the control program; number of clinical cases in the previous year; whether clinical cases were raised or purchased animals; typical signs in clinical cases; exposure of calves 0-6 weeks of age to feces of adult cows; contact of young stock with adult animal feces from using the same equipment to clean the housing for both groups of animals; spreading feces on fields from which forage is later harvested and fed to animals of any age group; what is done with animals that are suspected of having paratuberculosis or test positive on culture; and frequency of cleaning the cow barn. Stepwise logistic regression was used to determine the significance of each risk factor while controlling simultaneously for the effect of other factors. The significant factors were the type of farm operation, clinical signs, and exposure of calves to feces of adult cows. Commercial herds, presence of clinical signs typical of paratuberculosis in animals, and exposure of calves 0-6 weeks old to feces of adult cows all indicate a higher likelihood that a herd is infected with M. paratuberculosis.  相似文献

Thirty years of civil war in the Sudan have resulted in the isolation of the southern provinces which border Central and East Africa. Consequently, little is known about the epidemiology of HIV-1 infection in this region. To estimate the prevalence of HIV-1 infection in southern Sudan and the risk factors associated with disease transmission, a seroepidemiologic survey was conducted in the township of Juba. Study subjects invited to participate in this study included medical outpatients, inpatients hospitalized for active tuberculosis, and female prostitutes. A total of 401 subjects participated in the study. HIV-1 infection was confirmed in 25 subjects. The prevalence of HIV-1 infection was 19% (8/42) among tuberculosis patients, 16% (8/50) among prostitutes, and 3% (9/309) among outpatients. A significantly higher prevalence of HIV-1 infection was found among female prostitutes when compared to female outpatients: 16% (8/50) vs. 2% (4/178), P < 0.001. Correspondingly, the prevalence of seropositives was significantly higher among male outpatients reporting a history of sexual relations with prostitutes during the prior 10 years compared to male outpatients denying relations with prostitutes: 14% (5/37) vs. 0% (0/94), P = 0.0011. A history of a sexually transmitted disease (STD) was also associated with HIV-1 infection among male outpatients. The findings of this study indicate that HIV-1 infection is highly prevalent in southern Sudan and that prostitutes and their sexual partners represent a major reservoir of HIV infection in this population. A desmoplastic variant of ameloblastoma with osteoplasia in the stroma is reported. This tumour presented in the canine/premolar region of the left maxilla of a 31-year-old woman. It was treated by partial hemimaxillectomy and immediate reconstruction with a non-vascularised iliac graft. The location of this lesion, its histology and radiological features differ from those of the conventional ameloblastoma. The behaviour and prognosis of the desmoplastic ameloblastoma (DA) cannot at this stage be predicted due to the small number of cases that have been reported and a lack of long-term follow-up. To our knowledge this is the first documentation of the CT and MRI features of desmoplastic ameloblastoma with pathologic correlation.  相似文献
